Name: Chang (I have a real name. I choose not to share it. If I e-mail you, it shows up on my e-mail. So I'm not actually hiding it, I'm just...hiding it? I don't know.) "Changnoi" is Thai for "little elephant". In addition the elephant being my absolute favorite animal, even on my largest days, I am still smaller than an elephant. "Little elephant" is also the only thing that I can consistently say in Thai.

Age (ish!): 24

Location (approximate - no actual address, please!): New Mexico, USA. Soon to be Wisconsin, USA or New York, USA. Obviously I am hoping for New York (upper east side, Manhattan, specifically), but it's not my choice.

SLOCs/children/pets/imaginary friends: no SLOC, sadly/no kids/one punkish cat/several voices

Favourite and least favourite books and characters: Favorite books include Bride Leads, all wartime books, and Oberland. Least favorite include Princess and most of the Late Swiss Era of Senility. Favorite characters are Bride, Tom Gay, Julie Lucy, Margot-in-my-imagination-but-not-in-the-real-CS-world, Janie Lucy (if she can be considered to be a CS character), Ros Lilley, and The Ozanne Twins. Least favorite characters include Len and Blossom Willoughby.

How you got into the Chalet School: While visiting my first-cousin-once-removed in London, my father purchased an extremely abridged copy of Three Go for my younger sister. She hated it. After getting used to the repeated use of "moke", which I had only ever seen before as racist slang, I became addicted and spent a small fortune on eBay purchasing battered paperbacks of most of the rest of the series.

Age (ish!): Hanging on to the last of 30 with my fingernails!

Location (approximate - no actual address, please!): Sydney, Australia

SLOCs/children/pets/imaginary friends: SLOC -- Peter, also owned by two CBBers-in-training: Monique and Melody and a grey and white cat: Gandalf the Grey.

Least favourite characters: Joey (in all forms) and OOAOML (also in all forms).

Least favourite book: I don't like Prefects very much, especially the scene where Len and Reg become engaged. Say it with me: Ewwwww.

Favourite characters: Grizel, without question.

Favourite book: New Mistress: even though I don't like the way Kathie has to succumb to the charm of the all-powerful OOAOML.

How you got into the Chalet School: found them in the school library when I was in my early teens, read through most of them. Much later, when I was married and had a little bundle of joy, found a whole shelf-full of Chalet paperbacks in a second hand bookshop in Canberra and bought the lot. Have never managed to repeat that feat, much to my regret.

How I discovered the CBB:

Um, not sure I remember. I think I discovered the Chaletian and someone posting to girlsown mentioned something about the CBB. My curiosity was aroused. That was a few years ago now.

Other random facts:
Also a great lover of Anne McCaffrey's dragon series + the Crystal Singer series. Although I do think all the dragon books started to get a bit silly once All the Weyrs had come and gone. Sometimes it's better to stop, methinks.

I love: chocolate (especially Lindt hazelnut balls), Tim Tams, double Whoppers with cheese and bacon (from Hungry Jacks), Cadbury Caramello ice cream, Diet Coke with Lime, Mahjong, the mountains (but I never managed to fall into a glacier and snag a doctor), collecting girlsown type books (now there's a surprise), cats, babies (other people's), my family, singing, talking, making music generally, curling up on our bed with a few books when it's raining, Gilmore Girls, Alias, Star Trek Voyager, Kath and Kim and the BBC production of Pride and Prejudice with Colin Firth in it.

I loathe: brussel sprouts, spinach, turnips, Barbie Dolls, both of the Hilton sisters (oxygen wasters, much), the current federal government and their loathly Work Choices (so-called industrial relations reforms), all of the teeny-bopper dumbed down pop stars and television series and getting out of bed on a cold morning to go to work.

I work full time as a publishing systems trainer (which means I get paid to talk, how good is that). My other "job" is running the music at one of the morning services at our church, which I love. I also lead one of the bands -- I sing and my SLOC is the drummer.

Name: Carola will do for here ;)

Age (ish!): 39....scary, will be 40 next year!!

Location (approximate - no actual address, please!): Bedford (used to be Nepal, might possibly be South America soon, all up in the air right now).

SLOCs/children/pets/imaginary friends: none of the above (or the "to the left")

Favourite and least favourite books and characters: Love Jo to the Rescue and Phoebe Wychcote, also love Carola Storms, naturally. Never liked Grizel at all or books without Jo in them (although she can be rather irritating can't she?)

How you got into the Chalet School: Combination of my Grandma buying me Carola Storms the CS when I was much more into Malory Towers and St Clares, and stealing a CS book from Stoke Mandeville Hospital after I'd had my wisdom teeth out. And that's the only confession you're going to get from me!
