Name: Rosemary or Rosie (just not Rosy - for some weird reason I find that spelling aesthetically displeasing!)

Age (ish!): 23

Location: Living in Cheshire but travelling into North Wales frequently for my MA in Arthurian Literature.

SLOCs/children/pets/imaginary friends: Living with my parents so I'll count the family pets - a Labrador and a Jack Russell (who both make Bruno look like the epitome of well-trained doghood...)

Favourite and least favourite books and characters: In general I prefer the Tyrol and Armishire set books. Not too keen on the trend towards the end of the series for introducing a new character then abandoning them in the following books. I've always had a special fondness for Miss Slater

How you got into the Chalet School: I borrowed The School at the Chalet from the library when I was about eight or so, and my mother pounced on it in gleeful recognition and remembered all the Chalet hardbacks stashed at my grandmother's house.*

Unfortunately, they were stored in a damp garage for a few decades, so they're not in the best of condition. And my mother threw away a lot of the tatty dust-jackets. And at the age of thirteen, I merrily repaired the remaining covers with sellotape... I suppose you could say we have sinned against the Chalet School Hardback unto three generations...

How you found the CBB: Googling 'Chalet School Dust-jackets'!

I don't know how frequently I'll mange to post what with imminent essay deadlines and thesis preparation, but I've really enjoyed reading the Formal Discussions so hopefuly I'll manage to participate.

* We were missing the very last ones and a few randoms but I have almost remedied the situation (albeit with paperbacks) much to my bank balance's horror!

Nice to meet you Rosemary/Rosie.

Welcome to the CBB. I warn you however that it really ought to be classified at least as a class C drug, the more you read, the more you will need to read !! And it quite possibly addles your brain, I have been here less than a month and am already starting to wonder how I will cope when I don't have constant access to the internet...

Hope you enjoy and look forward to seeing some posts !

Thank you everyone for your warm welcome :D

Alas, I'm already feeling the addictiveness - I suspect that joining just before I have a lot of uni work to prepare was possibly not such a good idea...Oh well!

I'm pleased you like the sound of Arthurian Literature Alison H - generally I just get bemused and/or contemptuous looks when I mention my MA. I'm studying literature from such a long span of time and eras - it's fascinating!

Hi and welcome to the board, Rosemary. Sending a nod from one area of Cheshire to another. :D

Your MA topic sounds wonderful. I envy you.

Hi Rosie and welcome from another (temporary) Cheshire resident. I normally live in exile in the South East! :D

If we ever get the threatened NW gather organised, you would be very welcome to join us.

Thank you fellow Cheshire-ites! (And everyone else of course).

If there is ever a North-West gather I would be intersted to hear about it, altough I suspect that once I start my nursing degree I will have much less free time than King Arthur allows...
