Do we see her with the instrument at a Christmas concert/play?

It is not Kitty Burnett, a violin, or seen in the orchestra.

Is it Verity Carey with a zither? I forget which book, a half term expedition in Trials?

No, it's not Verity or a zither. Why didn't I think of that?

Is it an instrument one would expect a schoolgirl to be able to play?

Hmm. When I was in grade school, I was impressed by the performance of one of my classmates on this instrument at a school assembly. However, I get the impression that the CS girl in question wasn't quite so proficient, possibly because her instrument wasn't as elaborate.

It's not a flute, though.

Is it Cornelia and her - was it a saxophone? - instrument that made her blow her cheeks out when she had her 'orchestra' in the Tyrol?
