"No, I wouldn't like a latte or a cappuccino!" cried Joey for the fiftieth time. "I just want a cup of coffee!"

So do I - except that I like mine black without the CS featherbeds of cream.

Brilliant line, Someone. :D

Jo's golden notes soared lark-like at the Chalet School's first karaoke night. Miss Annersley vowed to have a word with her former pupil later. "Lady Marmalade!" she thought. "What on earth was Joey thinking?"

The new girl didn't think much of the ski-runs on the Platz.
'It's so boring. I prefer Slopestyle.'

Joey's triplets took after their father in every way.

Unfortunately, it was obvious that their father was not Jack Maynard.

"There's a lot of post today," said Hilda. "Is it someone's birthday?"

"No," sighed Rosalie. "It's Valentine's Day."

"And" said Rosalie thoughtfully, "most of the envelopes are addressed to Gaudenz and have a local postmark".

"Slang, Clare? Pay a fine please," said the prefect.

"You can't fine me for saying 'Feck'," exclaimed Clare Kennedy. "Sure isn't it part of my cultural heritage? Fining me would be discrimination!"

"Yes, Mary-Lou, of course we'll all be flying to school," said Hilda. "French railway staff are going to be on strike for most of the next three months, so we'd never get there otherwise."

Joke's on them, because not only the French, but also the Germans, have been having strikes in their airports - the controllers, so you can't just fly with a different airline.

Perhaps I should mention that Ruth Gemmell's "The CS and the Willoughbys" does have a French rail strike but the girls return by coach not 'plane

Is that the book that's only available on CD? I like reading print books, wish she'd do a print version!

Never heard of this title. Who published it? Where can I find it? Please!

To bring this back on topic:

"No, Blossom, you are not going to be reserve for our Tennis Six. Your service is far too weak," said the Games Prefect.

Final bit of "off-topic". It is only available on CD. I don't know how you get a copy (I was lent the one I read). I would not recommend it, I found it very dull.

"A new girl! How thrilling! Have you come for tea?" Joey greeted the little blonde girl enthusiastically.

The girl sighed. "I'm not new, I live here, remember?"

"You do? What's your name?"

The girl made a gesture that was unmistakably French. "Marie-Claire."

'I've heard that Matron regularly has to get up in the night after going to English tea at Mrs Maynard's. Apparently, you need a digestion like an elephant's to cope with all the stuff she makes them eat, and they all wake up with stomach pains, or vomiting.'

A certain edge when she spoke of Mrs Maynard, certainly, but, after all, not everyone could love Joey.
'Life,' said Marvin, 'don't talk to me about life!'
