Apologies if this is answered elsewhere, but how do I change my username?

I just want to take the 23 off, as I dont really like that my posts are so easily searchable just by typing my username into google. I'm
not planning to write anything to be ashamed of, but I would rather be just a little more anonymous than I am with the number there.

Thank you !

You can do it yourself in the User Control Panel - just go to Profile > Change account settings.

Thank you, would much appreciate it.

I have been searching around the user control panel for a while with no luck so I dont think it is possible by myself, but thank you for answering so quickly.

Please accept my virtual creme eggs with one mars egg in thanks ( that will only make sense if you have been procrastinting recently ! If you haven't then well still please enjoy the virtual eggs !)

The easiest way to do a link is to click the URL button above the box in which you type a post. Then, cut and past your URL between the pair of square-bracketed url commands, and enter the post as usual.

If you want to have clickable text other than the link itself, type (url=http:\\whateverlinkyouwant)Text you want to show(/url), except use square brackets instead of parentheses. It is important that there be no extra spaces around the square brackets. (The instructions in this paragraph are independent of the URL button.)

When you write a PM it goes into your 'outbox', and when the recipient receives it it moves to your 'sent' folder. Are you by any chance clearing the outbox yourself before the intended recipient has a chance to pick the PM up?

Also beware of the little X that has replaced the Delete button. It can be very confusing if you're conditioned to X meaning "close."

This was happening to Julieanne before we had the new board format.

I had a message that I had 2 new messages but when I went to my inbox, there were 2 lines saying "message was deleted by Julieanne".

In the little guideline comments at the top of the forum it says

"Please limit the use of the oops smiley as far as possible"

See what I did there to make sure that I didn't use it? Baha. Ahem, anyway why is that please? I'm pretty sure that this must have been mentioned in 100 other places that I didn't notice. Either that or I'm missing a very obvious piece of netiquette knowledge.

Because it's annoying especially in more formal discussions where people seem to use it to apologise for having an opinion.

Oh dear ... probably yes on both counts. So sad. But the Good Thing is that now I know I can send pms, and people will actually get them!

If I sent one to anyone and then deleted it before you read it, I am so sorry, but be relieved it was very unlikely to have been anything to change the course of your lives ...

I've just re-read my post and it sounded quite brusque which wasn't what I meant at all! I blame too much wine at last night's gather

Oh no worries I'm not distressed. Although perhaps you should include the blushing smilie to make it clear.
