Staying Logged In/ Searching

I am experiencing a problem by which I log in, look at the "Active Topics" but am not permitted to move to the second page. I am told that I "don't have permission to search". Trying again has usually solved this.

Today, this has worsened. Trying again did not solve it and I had to log in again - somewhere along the line, I had become logged out. Given I had logged in, updated my 2013 reading list and not logged out, I was somewhat concerned about this apparent worsening of the problem.

I tried to post a report of the problem - and was told that I had to be logged in to post! In other words, I had again been logged out without doing anything.

I wondered if this is related to the problems that other people have been suffering with their passwords

That does sound odd, Victoria - I think I have had that once recently, but I couldn't swear to how long it was between trying to access things (and of course the log in only lasts for a certain length of time), whereas presumably you're talking about being logged out after only a very short time.

Are you selecting the "keep me logged in" tick-box when you log in? I find unless I do that I'm logged out reasonably quickly.

NB: don't use this option on a public computer!

Thanks for the comments.

I never use a "keep logged in" option (and my laptop is set up to log out of everything automatically when I switch off anyway) but this was happening within minutes (if not seconds) of my logging-in so the question of my being "out of time" should not have arisen.

I have to say that the problem has returned to the "no permission to search" - annoying but not a real impediment to using the site
