I was looking at the list of members and just happened notice several registrations with similar names have taken place today.

I suspect that, tomorrow, we will have a number of kitchens offered to us. How do I report this activity?

Noted! Thank you. We seem to be being plagued by these people or robots or whatever they are!

I suspect it's because we have a forum called Kaffee und Kuchen that we always get kitchens

Perhaps it should be abbreviated to K&K?

Mind you goodness knows what adverts we'd get if google decided we were Kaiserlich und Koniglich. Or, worse still, the KKK

Maybe the kitchen spam isn't too bad after all?

I am pleased that I helped (although I noticed that my "first-up" topic today was...a kitchen offer!)

Oddly, my actual question wasn't really answered. I posted as a separate topic because I thought it was the best way to attract attention to the problem. But I had wondered whether should have posted on the "problems" threads. And I rather assumed that, if I were more "au fait" with the board, that there was a person or place that I should have notified

I think the usual mechanism is to report (PM) the occurance to the mods of that forum.

The Mods are pretty good at picking up and deleting spam posts - we then report the IP address and an Admin removes the spamming 'member' and bans the IP address.

But it never hurts to PM a Mod if there is an occasion for concern. The 'Problem' threads are more for when you encounter a difficulty with your own use of the board, and another member may be able to suggest a solution...and if not, a Mod will look at it.

But I *distinctly* remember reading in CS that they are characters we should dress up as, and emulate their 'adventures'?

Sorry. I wasn't criticising the Mods (who I think do a good job)

Perhaps I should have made it clear that I couldn't work out who to tell that I thought something might be about to go wrong. Once something has gone wrong, it's much easier.

As it happened. the Mods managed to accommodate my ignorance.

There's a load of ?I think new? new dodgy looking names and profiles on SDL, is it helpful to click on them and report the dodgy looking ones or will that just create a load of hassle and emails for liss / mods when you already know which ones have all just arrived? Am happy to go through reporting if it will help but obviously not if it won't!

I think a PM to Liss might be useful, Kathryn, as she is the [I think only] one who can sort SDL - & I don't know how often she visits it herself.

You can report a suspicious message by clicking on the red exclamation mark which is on every message. If someone else has already reported it, you get a message saying so. I assume a report triggers a message to a mod. The two in Sales and wants have been reported.

There were a couple of spam reviews on SDL a couple of weeks about Hermes handbags. I did report them (there's a "report this" link on SDL) but they are still there.
See what you mean about lots of new ones, until they actually post something (like the Hermes handbags review) don't suppose there's an easy way of spotting them. They seem to go all through the alphabet. Handbag reviewer didn't have a silly name as most of them do - name is Claire.

Will do then. I've a good idea who are normally in the members list on SDL so can probably find and report a lot of them reasonably fast just thought would check first in case.

I did report the one re Hermes bags among the reviews on New Dreams, but nothing has happened. It's still sitting there, quietly minding its own business and doing no harm. Wish I could afford one!

I think Liss may be on holiday at the moment.

I've got a fancy handbag review as well  .

Perhaps a fancy handbag review is something of which to be proud. Obviously the writing must be really classy.
