Hello!

Name: I'm Vicky but you can use my board name Angela as well - it;s the name I use when I'm feeling shy.

Age: I'm 33

Location: Preston

SLOCs/children/pets/imaginary friends:One husband, no children, WANT cats but none yet.

Favourite and least favourite books and characters: I really enjoy the English books of the series, partly because they were based in war-time whcih for a history buff like me made them fascinating! I also love Rivals, New Mistress, Feud, Oberland, Changes, Challenge - ones about the staff or other schools. I also like Problem. However the first time I read the whole lot in order I cried buckets when I got to the end, so I suppose you could say I like most of them!

My favourite characters... ooh, depends on the day! Love Joey as a child, she get's a little wearing as an adult. Dislike Mary-Lou and wonder whether it was because I was odd. Having spied on this board for a while it seems I'm not alone in this opinion! Depending on when I read the books I either like or dislike the Robin and I could understand other 'difficult' (and, of course, new) characters finding her spoilt.

How you got into the Chalet School: I was given an Armada 3-in-1 as a present, aged about 10(?) with Jo Returns (adored), The New CS (okay) and Three Go (loved!). On the front was a picture of Mary-Lou and one of Joey Maynard. It took me years to work out that Joey Bettany and Joey Maynard were one and the same, not helped by reading other books out of order! During teenage years I lurked around the WH Smith children's section and carefully hid the books I was purchasing from preying eyes (Trebizon and CS with the occasional Nancy Drew). At age 18 I gave up and just bought any books I found. Now I proudly display them on the book case :D

How you found the CBB: Just idly surfing the web one day I found a website all about the CS! Hurrah! Two years of lurking later I have finally decided to join in.

Welcome to the board!

I know what you mean about bookstores. It was a few years before I stopped pretending I was buying the children's books as gifts....

Welcome to the Board Angela. I'm now aged nearly 70 and have never pretended that the children's books are for anyone other than me! Display your collection with pride......:D
