Hello

I grew up reading the CS books. My favorite one is Exploits of the Chalet School girls. Which book was your all time favorite and why?

Welcome to the CBB! Exile because it's such a powerful story, and Jo of because I like the Christmas bits.

That's a hard one - I don't think I have an absolute favourite, or even two. I do always enjoy School at, because it's the beginning of everything, and so fresh and full of enthusiasm (and no tiresome stuff about school routine at this stage, of course). I must admit that I like Exploits, too!

Same.

I kind of enjoyed Princess at the Chalet School and the Chalet School and the Lintons. I read The Chalet School and Jo as well.

Rivals of the Chalet School was good too. I did not like book number four. I think there were too many evil and misguided people in that book. What are your thoughts on book eight when they camp out?

Guides was such a popular theme in girls' fiction at that date that I think the CS girls had to have it as a major interest, especially as it seems to have been an enthusiasm of EMBD's at that point. And at least they do camp out properly, whereas I rather think there were still some people at that date (1932) that preferred Guides to stay in farmers' barns rather than use tents.
