I think this is the right place for this, please move if not !

This isn't quite right for drabble challenges, but it is the same sort of idea.

I often chat and yibble with evil, plot bunny sending and feeding muses CBB friends, who manage to send out quite a lot of good plot bunnies.

I also find that people suggest some very good potential drabble subjects in discussions and reviews.

For example in one of the discussions people were suggesting that the stress of exams and university entrance, or the idea of someone NOT getting into the place they wanted, could be interesting to explore.

As another example, Alison was commenting on my Grease crossover about whether other films might work well in a similar crossover format.

So my basic suggestion is that people could release plot bunnies here that they have had, or stories that they would like to read. Obviously only if they themselves do not want / haven't the time / confidence to follow them up!

I'd suggest a format like the one below, so the thread is readable quickly.

If someone wants to write something from an idea, they could either just do so, and risk others doing the same thing, or they could PM the person who originally had the idea.

That original person could then amend their post to show that the plot bunny had been "ADOPTED" or something similar. If people don't want to PM they could just comment on the thread and say that they are keen on following an idea. Or just write it if they prefer.

The other advantage of PM ing the original poster would be that it perhaps opens up the route between the person with the idea and the person writing the story for discussion about where they saw the idea going and maybe collaboration in some cases. If people want to just leave an idea but not then be PMed about it, they can always just say that in their post.

If someone is keen on following a plot bunny that has been Adopted, they could still PM the original poster, or write it anyway since many people take the same topic and just write it in their own style.

Equally, if there is already a drabble in progress or in the archives, someone could let the person with the idea know, or just comment on the thread, which would let people know where to look in the archives for stories that they want to read.

-------------------

A possible format that I thought might work is below, feel free to change or ignore !

PLOT BUNNY:
ORIGIN:
OTHER DETAILS:
DATE:
Has this been adopted?
Is there already a drabble covering this in the archives?

--------------------

PLOT BUNNY: Failing an exam
ORIGIN: Drabble discussion on CBB
OTHER DETAILS: This might suit Len or Con
DATE: September 2011
Has this been adopted?
Is there already a drabble covering this in the archives? Don't know

--------------------

PLOT BUNNY: The School stays in Guernsey and is caught in the occupation
ORIGIN:. Nothing specific
OTHER DETAILS: Could be interesting to have various members of the school as part of the resistance.
DATE: September 2011
Has this been adopted? No
Is there already a drabble covering this in the archives? Don't know

I'm sure people can add to this, or write less :D

This could be the savior of all of the drabbles in my 'Unfinished' folder! :D :D Well, at least the ideas...

*opens folder*

Plot Bunny: Rewrite of the bookend incident in Triplets, with someone (not Margot) throwing the bookend at Len.
Origin: 'Unfinished' folder.
Other Details: Perhaps include Margot's reaction to the events, Len blaming herself when it wasn't her fault, the guilt of whoever threw it (possibly one of M's friends)
Adopted? Not as of yet
Another drabble covering this? Probably not, but there is a different alternative of Len throwing the bookend, by Fiona Mc.

Plot Bunny: A drabble about Emilia Casabon
Origin: Old discussion about characters who are main in one book then are only in the background.
Other Details: Emilia gets only one paragraph, which is in Summer Term:
Quote:
They all had except a new girl, Emilia Casabon who had arrived the previous week. The prefects knew that she was here because her mother was at the big Gornetz Sanatorium at the other end of the Platz. What none of them, not even Emilia herself, knew, was that Mme Casabon was not expected to live through the summer. Emilia was thirteen, small for her age, and very dark. She was also, as Upper IVa, in which form she had been placed had speedily discovered, brilliantly clever. Her maths was excellent; she wrote English with style and her other languages were fluent. In short she had an amazing number of gifts. Only one seemed to have been left out - the gift of making friends. The girls, obeying the school's unwritten law, had done their best, but she remained aloof and chilly.

Adopted? Not as of yet
Another drabble available? Don't know.

Plot Bunny: An alternative universe where Joey dies before even getting to name her triplets
Origin: A thread somewhere
Other Details: *shrugs*
Adopted? Not as of yet
Archived drabble? I wrote a bit of this on here - archived here - but it can be ignored.

Plot Bunny: Two of the triplets being identical and the other not.
Origin: My head
Other Details: Nothing I can think of as of yet.
Adopted? Not yet
Archived drabble? I don't know.

Interesting idea. As for several different takes on a theme, why not? There can be several different stories of the same thing - maybe ones which work together, or ones which just have the same starting idea, but are completely different universes... Did we have drabble challenges at one point? I know we had a Not the Spring/Summer Drabble one once - where we had three different themes and had to write something of exactly 100 words on one of them. It was very interesting to see all the different ideas on the various themes...

Not saying it's not a good idea to have a drabble marked as 'adopted' just also remembering that it can be good to have similar-but-different out there too... :)

Yes, I think it would be good to have different versions too.

Was really meaning that of it says Adopted then people know there might be another version, and might be polite to then just check in with whoever else is writing it.

Drabble challenges sound good too :-)

Am already deviating from my own suggestion but can't copy the format on my phone --

I'd love to see a "The Borrowers" at the Chalet School crossover, think it would work really well.

We've had several drabble challenges in the past. IIRC, the last one was the "UnValentine's Day" challenge. We've also had a drabble ideas exchange, similar to the plot bunny adoption idea, and for one of the "Not The Gather" games we once had people being given the names of 5 CS characters and asked to write a drabble including them all.

*With Mod hat on* - this is absolutely fine here, keep the suggestions coming! The next 3-4 months are traditionally the busiest time of year for new drabbles, especially once we start getting close to (apologies for mentioning it in September  ) the festive season.

Sorry for hijacking the thread but I'd be really interested to see some of the 100 word challenges again. I like the discipline of having to convey a scene in a very small number of words.

True, and it is brilliant but short -- any chance of more would be good !

And yay for a plot bunny that left me and didn't come back !!

PLOT BUNNY: Miss Annersley installs 1984 style security systems when she takes over from Madmesoiselle
ORIGIN: Considering rereading 1984 and I have a weird mind
OTHER DETAILS: Le Petit Chalet already brainwashed but Corney and Co lead the resistance?
DATE: Fairly recently
Has this been adopted?
Is there already a drabble covering this in the archives? I have absolutely no idea!

Or:

PLOT BUNNY: Instead of an orchestral the CS girls form a punk rock band
ORIGIN: Pop up on lovefilm advertising The Runaways
OTHER DETAILS: Jack and Jem have a record label and are keen to sign the girls, but Vater Bar is determined to keep them away from the evils of fame
Has this been adopted? Only if drabblers can type faster than I can think. So, maybe!
DATE: About...two minutes ago.
Is there already a drabble covering this in the archives? Oh I hope so.

Edit: Holy coding errors Batman!

PLOT BUNNY: Nancy Drew at the Chalet School
ORIGIN: Thinking about Allo Allo - don't ask me where the link is, who knows !!
OTHER DETAILS: Could have either Nancy investigating at the CS or CS people over in America mixed up in a Nancy Drew Mystery.
DATE:Sept 11
Has this been adopted? ETA 26/11/11 Yes, though may take a while as the author is very busy ! I'm sure any ideas would be welcomed.
Is there already a drabble covering this in the archives? Don't think so?

Could work equally well with Hardy Boys. (if not better as the Hardy Boys books are way way better than Nancy "Oh come and rescue me Ned" Drew... )

PLOT BUNNY: Crossover with Allo Allo.
ORIGIN: Playpen, peoppe talking about Allo Allo
OTHER DETAILS: Could have some characters being involved in the resistance, Allo Allo style. Or the Allo Allo team make a trip to Guernsey before the school leaves?

DATE:Sept 2011
Has this been adopted? ETA 26/11/11 YES !! Looking forward to it

Hey very cool !

But you know what would be a great way to break writers block if you get it ? Expand upon that Jack / Jem drabble ... Just a thought ... ;-)

* leaves plot bunny food just in case*

He he !! Thats not an absolute no.... good good....

If you don't want to write more of them, more Jackie Bettany would be great too...

Just another thought... ;-)

I forgot - yes, there is a possible interest in the Nancy Drew, but could take a while, so I'm sure others would be welcome too if anyone is up for writing it !

PLOT BUNNY: Hilda / Nell as a couple
ORIGIN: Originally from the book subtext, but also from a few different CBBers asking me over the past few months to try to write it.
OTHER DETAILS: I don't mind helping anyone with ideas / research, but I don't think I could write it, in part because of Hilda NOT being gay in my own drabbles (about the only person who isn't...) but also because my own grammar is just not consistent enough, and I think that I would write her dialogue incorrectly.

DATE:Sept 11
Has this been adopted? - Possibly !! That was quick ! Yay !
Is there already a drabble covering this in the archives? I have been told there is an excellent one by Cath VP in the archives, but haven't yet had a chance to read it.

PLOT BUNNY: A retelling of The School at the Chalet with a contemporary setting.
ORIGIN: The large carvenous space between my ears :D
OTHER DETAILS: Thoughts/suggestions I've had include
- Dick travelling to Asia to teach English
- the San already being established, and being specialists in the rare disease Jo has
- Mademoiselle already running a girls' school in Austria and inviting Madge to teach there
Some of the plots could be followed quite closely (Grizel up a mountain, Juliet with dodgy parents) but others might be changed - maybe contemporary girls would be (gasp!) interested in boys (or girls...), the pranks are unlikely to happen, maybe Juliet's bullying goes too far)
AKA things I have thought about too much but never manage to build up the momentum to write!

PLOT BUNNY: Joey tries to adopt Nell Wilson as the latest addition to the Maynard family
ORIGIN: Beecharmer inadvertently suggested this one, and I thought it could turn out rather amusing, if slightly surreal!
OTHER DETAILS:
Has this been adopted? Not to my knowledge - it's a bit too alternative for me to feel comfortable writing it myself, but I'd love to read it if someone else wants to try it!
