Hallo chaps, hoping you can help me out with a lapse of memory.

I'm trying to think of unattached, handsome young men of the early Tyrol era - for the term after Princess and the two terms of Head Girl, specifically. Nationality doesn't matter, as long as they're reasonably attractive and definitely single (they can get married later but after Head Girl, you know).

Currently I have:
Tristan Denny, whom I don't want to use for obvious reasons!
Jack Maynard - also not keen because Joey
Gottfried Mensch, but I think he's engaged to Gisela by then
Kurt Von Eschenau - but he gets engaged to Bernhilda
Wolfram Von Eschenau but I suspect he's still a lad at this point
Mr Eastley but I think his wife is still alive at this point, also he's not happy enough
Ted Humphries, not handsome enough and has small child.

Can anyone remind me of local peasants, relatives of the Pfeiffens (Herr August, for instance? How old is he?), relatives of the Brauns, or just anyone else who might turn up in Handsome Stranger capacity, please? There's Herr Melnarti and his random assortment of children - I suppose one of them could turn up, as Klara Melnarti is at the school by that point, I think.

But yes, basically any ideas for someone who could look amazing in a bathing suit on the Tiern shore, and possibly talk about art with a handsome young woman...

Thanks!

I always think Prince Carol's side-kick (sorry, equerry) Captain Trevillion sounds quite dashing/ potentially good-looking, and he's a qualified pilot, so could always drop by briefly on his way somewhere else; Prince Carol also has a secretary called Signor Calmori, and another staff member called Signor Francesco, though I can't remember if we're told anything about them.

Klara Melnarti's eldest bro is called Hans, but he may be a bit too young. You could always invent a younger brother for Friedl von Gluck...

A-Z lists these Pfeiffens - Eigen (probably too young) Hansi, elder brother of Marie, Fritzel another brother, Gustav, Marie's uncle (don't know if he has a wife). No mention of any Brauns. No idea if Elisaveta's Dr Tracy is married or young-ish, but he probably wouldn't do as your handsome young woman might know him! She'd probably know the villainous Cosimo too, who wouldn't actually be around by then in canon , though no reason why he shouldn't be in your universe!

Wolfram von Eschenau is younger than Marie so he wouldn't do

I suppose James Kettlewell might turn up again but I don't think he's handsome enough!

Giovanni de Bersetti, Bette's husband, doesn't get a first mention till Lintons but maybe you could introduce him earlier, before he marries Bette.

Snort!

Captain Trevellion sounds splendid but probably too close to 'suitable' and also a bit too highbrow to lounge around on a sunny lakeside in a bathing costume. I am tempted by one of those Pfeiffens, though. Or maybe I could borrow some of my young men from T&M and use them…

Handsome young woman is only about 19 so not really all that old :)

What about Marie Von Eschanau's husband to be? The Baron von und zu Wertheimer. Very presentable, young, handsome, titled and rich - not yet fixed on Marie for his wife - that doesn't happen until The Chalet School and Jo.

Ooh, idea. Not quite noble enough to be almost a possibility but not so smug that he can't lounge around being handsomely half naked.

Now I'm torn between baron and what Abi termed a "Romantic Peasant"!

Luigia & Bianca di Ferrara's father appears in the first book - isn't he widowed and relatively young?

Aren't there always lonely goatherds in Austria?

Lonely goatherds are a bit too lowbrow for the lady in question!

But work has ceased on that drabble so I can probably work something out before inspiration strikes again :)
