The part I remember started with a version of Pat's acrophobic visions, followed by a reasonably straightforward rendition of Lisa_T's deductions. But then, right after Rachael finished reassuring Lesley, EBD popped up and informed Lesley that merely watching her friends be tortured was no longer enough. So Rachael ended up being held down by the "two little Christian hand-holders" (quoting EBD here) and Lisa_T (to make up for her not hearing the sound effects), while Lesley had at it. The actual torture sequence really wasn't a quarter as graphic as the flogging scene in "Master and Commander" that probably inspired it, but when I woke up Lesley was a total basket case, and Rachael was still trying to convince her that (A) it wasn't her fault, and (B) the pain would have been much worse if inflicted by EBD herself. (Sorry, Lesley.) *Stupid cliff-hanger dreams*. Notes to self: A. Avoid too-small jets, especially in bumpy weather. B. At the next family film excursion, volunteer to help chaperone the children's movie. C. Possibly eat less turkey & pie. *taps foot* *waiting for Elinor* Edited to note: My third star just came back! |

Hilda and Nell exchanged glances, Nell spoke first, “this is a joint effort then?” she asked, Lesley shook her head, “no, this is all Rachael’s work, she emailed me the first part – you know the bit with me in my car – to ask if I minded my starring role and to apologise for hijacking my story! Since then I’ve had sneak previews and occasionally emailed back ideas, but the whole concept is Rachael’s!” “We did feel though that you should both see it before I published it on the CBB,” Rachael continued, “after all, you’ve both got pretty significant roles in it too, and some of it may bring back rather, unpleasant, memories,” she looked particularly at Hilda while saying this, Hilda Annersley smiled, “I think,” she said quietly, “seeing how the story ends, any unpleasant memories this may have evoked have been firmly banished, I don’t think either of us have any objection to you posting this on the CBB,” she looked across at her friend and Nell shook her head, smiling, “Will you publish it as a complete story, Rachael?” Nell asked. Rachael and Lesley both laughed, “Oh no,” Rachael said, “it’ll be far more fun to publish as short posts, that way we’ll get all the comments from everyone,” “And we’ll be able to make comments ourselves,” put in Lesley, “it’ll drive everyone else on the board crazy trying to work out the writer!” Hilda and Nell looked puzzled and Rachael explained, “I don’t intend to publish under my own name, that way no-one else will know who is writing this, and then both Lesley and I can take part in the sessions that are sure to occur of trying to discover the writer’s identity!” Both Hilda and Nell dissolved into laughter, “that is really cruel!” Hilda smiled, “may I suggest an appropriate pseudonym? I think you should use Elinor!” |
