Title: Matey's Secret #3     SCS
Post by Carolyn P on Nov 7th, 2003, 2:35pm
I was about to join in the yibbling on this thread when I realised it was 9 pages long.

Here is the first link
http://members.lycos.co.uk/thecbb/mateysecret.htm

and the second
http://members.lycos.co.uk/thecbb/mateysecret2.htm

Hope that when you have had a good nights sleep you will be ready to posts lots and lots of story KB.

Glad to see we managed to help KB achieve two pages in the archives for this drabble.

And what did you say Pat? I saw you had posted, but it appears to have been missed off the archived thread. I am sure it was something of vital importance to this drabble, and we would all hate to miss it!

Only wondering if we could get it archived before KB came back!   ;D  Which we did!  I was going back to modify it when it disappeared!  How many pages of yibbling can we get in before she's back?

Sorry. I thought I'd waited for it all to open before saving.

How dedicated to the mission are you Pat?

Personally, I am prepared to yibble for the next nine hours (barring school pick ups and feeding brat times) - think we could get it all archived again before she makes it back?   ;D

Well, I'm supposed to be working, so I do a bit on each alternately!!  I finish at 4.00, and go home.  We're not on subscription at home, so I dip in and out fairly quickly.  The more yibbling the better, though!

So who do I yibble with when you go home and leave me?

<sobs a little early, but needs the practice>

Don't know, but there's still a few minutes left!!  Shall we yell for help?

I'm happy to yibble! Not usually on here when people are yibbling - ie 2 in the morning!! I can yibble for the next hour or two...  ;D

Sadly I AM frequently on here at 2am - but that's the time of night that my PBs creep out and start whispering urgently in my ears . . . .

Plus I have money to spend on books!  ;D

Friday afternoons are for eating chocolate, and watching DVDs! At least, that's the theory in my house. Ahh, the joys of being a disabled single parent! I get to watch Shrek on a daily basis.

<seriously contemplating sobbing as she considers how many brainy people use these boards, and to whom she has just confessed to being a "non-person"(according to the government anyway!)>

Edited: See how thick I am? I just spelled the word "Brainy" with a "t"!
Edited again: I also put "this" for "these". Aaaarrggghhhh!

Title: Re: Matey's Secret #3     SCS
Post by PatW on Nov 7th, 2003, 3:45pm
Who's a non-person?  Don't be so daft!  We know you're not.  You prove it every day!

Title: Re: Matey's Secret #3     SCS

Hopes no one is too worried by Kate's (is it Kate for short?) leaping up and own. I have a little office and can hear anyone coming so no one knows what I'm doing in here!!  ;D

Edited to add - you're posting too fast! Rachel - Shrek is one of my favourite films, I love it!!

Title: Re: Matey's Secret #3     SCS

lol - according to the government, I don't count! (My dad works for the ONS so he is one who KNOWS!)

Because I am disabled, I don't get counted as a single-parent.

Because I am a single-parent, I don't get counted as disabled.

Because I am a disabled, single-parent, I don't get counted as being out of work.

See? According to the governement, the only way they even know I exist is because they have to send me money each month!

And even more than that, I'm a drabbler  ;D  ;D  ;D

(And apparently a serial yibbler now too!)

Edited: Lololololol! Two pages of yibbles!

Rachel - I am sure that your offspring (not sure if it is son or daughter sorry) thinks that you count, not to mention your parents, friends and the whole mad world of the CBB!

NickiL - i have to share this office and at times my colleague does look at me slightly gone out - particularly when i have been reading certain drabbles!!!

:D

Title: Re: Matey's Secret #3     SCS

Kat, I have offspring of both varieties. Daughter, nine looks upon me with the despair and dismay only possible in a pre-teen. Son nearly eight, looks at me in admiration and adoration and murmers requests for food continually.  ;D

Mind you, my kids are STILL asking me what I'm going to be when I grow up!

(Ooooooh, and isn't the line above my avatar appropriate for one of my brain? heh heh heh)

Title: Re: Matey's Secret #3     SCS

Yay, we've made it to page 2!!

Rachel, I can't write fiction to save my life (good job the cats seem to keep the PBs away), so you're one up on me!

Title: Re: Matey's Secret #3     SCS
Post by Rachel on Nov 7th, 2003, 3:58pm
Nah, fiction writing is easy. You look around your family for characters, recycle old family feuds, introduce a few family foibles (like the Chastity Cat! Yes, it is REAL and exists at my parents house, protecting me from any further siblings!) and there you have it!

Mind you, it helps if you change a few of the names occasionally!

Title: Re: Matey's Secret #3     SCS
Post by NickiL on Nov 7th, 2003, 4:00pm
Chastity Cat? Chastity Cat??

Aaah, I think I get it - we have one of those on occasion too but we usually get rid of her!!  ;D

Title: Re: Matey's Secret #3     SCS
Post by Rachel on Nov 7th, 2003, 4:03pm
*****ATTENTION*****

For full details of the Chastity Cat's role in life, go and read a sweet little drabble called "Hilda's Letters - Revealed!" It was written as a spin off from a main drabble, and features several well thought out and well crafted ideas, not to mention the death of the author of THIS drabble, wassername, ummmm, oh yes! KB!

(Hurry back and write some more KB!  ::) )

I did wonder if I'd missed something there!  :-[ Don't get time to catch up with all the drabbles. As soon as I turn my back someone's posted more!! If Hilda's Letters follow on from where I think they do I will definitely investigate!  ;D

I know what you mean about the catching up thing! Some people have no sense of decency and yibble on for hours! makes it so hard to get back up to speed   ;D  ;D

(Are you enjoying this yet KB?)

Hey! "Hilda's Letters - Revealed!" was a serious drabble! Do you see the letters "FCS" anywhere in it's title?

(I know, straw clutching just makes one look sad and desperate!)

Well at least she washes them, I presume, which is more than Hilda seemed to in Rachel's drabble.

Yibble away and the only clue that KB will have that this thread has been archived will be the title and my original message. Hmm, wonder if this could get up archive stage before she returns.

Liss will brain me for that suggestion no doubt!

It's partly Liss's fault we're yibbling - just trying to catch up star-wise. I object to being downgraded to a junior again!!  ;D

Ca- er- May I join in? It seems like a worthy aim after all, to have an entire thread dedicated to yibbling! And the star thing confused me a lot until I saw someone commenting on it.

Title: Re: Matey's Secret #3     SCS
Post by Catherine_B on Nov 7th, 2003, 7:53pm
To be frank, if KB objects to us yibbling on her thread, she will be the sootiest pot that ever called the kettle black.  Let's yibble away, m'hearties!

*sternly*  Carolyn, no excuses.  You can yibble and write.

Title: Re: Matey's Secret #3     SCS
Post by Carolyn P on Nov 7th, 2003, 7:53pm
Of course you may join in. The more the merrier.
Can't help but wonder what KB will make of this when she returns.

Title: Re: Matey's Secret #3     SCS
Post by Sarah_G-G on Nov 7th, 2003, 8:23pm
It was her own fault, if you think about it. After all, if the story had continued more quickly then calls for more wouldn't have descended into yibbling. Also she is one of the main yibblers on the board so it's only fair that her drabble contains some yibbling.
*ponders the definition of 'some'*
*decides it's none too specific so quite possibly the criteria have not yet been filled.*

NO KB!

You can't do that.

Well actually you can, but we are begging you not to.

Carolyn, who didn't do much yibbling because contary to comments above I can't yibble and write at the same time.

Logging on really quickly before I go to work - the Library being open for 3 hours on Saturday mornings - I must say that I'd been wondering when there would be an entire thread of yibble (is that the noun form?), and - TA-DAH! - here it is!
Glad to see that we are following the very fine example set for us by our esteemed HG (good morning, KB, what's the weather like in Melbourne today?)

Oh, don't let me stop you! I only jumped on to check this and then I'll be getting off again. As I said last night, I haven't yet written anymore on this (although I'm going to try and get some done today) so yibble to your little hearts' content.

And Ellen, it's grey and overcast here, but thankfully dry, as that meant I got the washing dried.

KB, by 'this' do you mean the whole board, or this thread in particular.

If you are not intending to post soon I think we might just as well all give up and go to bed!

(I always seem to be talking about bed on this board)
