Aw, and we don't get to read more of the Adventures of Mabel at the same time?

Oh, btw, could you please send Hilde back? Theodore and Peter are missing her.

Clambering out of Chloe's rucksack Anya spoke,
"i get around myself and it helps with my ideas, i'm not a tame rabbit you know"
roling her eyes Chloe replied,
"I don't care what you get up to as long as you don't get yourself nito trouble but i got a lecture from xan for loosing you on thursday, now you need a bath before you go in my room again, you look a state"
Before she could dodge out of the way, Chloe swooped down and picked Anya up using the special glove KB had sent,
"Nnnnnnnooooooooooooooo!" hopping up and down doing her best to drench Chloe Anya did her best to aviod the soapy bubbles, afetr being towel dried Anya began to realise the toll her time at waterloo had had on her, she didn't have the energy to get back ontop of the wardober so sllected to snuggle down on Xanthe's bed by the radiator up against Floppsy, the enormus cuddley toy rabbit.

"What!?!" Ianthe squawked indignantly "Anya's sleeping on your bed" she looked accusingly at Xanthe "I thought PB's weren't allowed on your bed" Xanthe sighed
"Well they're not... not really... but I don't think Chloe had much choice"  Ianthe's nose twitched rapidly
"It's not fair!  You ignore us for those essay bunnies and then Anya gets to sleep in you bed and you haven't even OFFERED us a biscuit for about a week..." the indignant bunny trailed off as she became aware of Xanthe's miserable expression "I WANT to have the time to listen to you, really, it's just there's so much to do at the moment..."

Moros looked at Desmond in disbelief, 'What do you mean?'
'Just what I said,' replied Desmond, 'Mummy has been out for her birthday lunch, cos she's at work tomorrow and she's far too stuffed to think about writing drabbles,'
'But her shoulder is much better,' grumbled Moros 'She's been on the computer for half an hour this evening,'
'Perhaps she'll write some tomorrow,' said Desmond soothingly, 'She has to be at work earlier than usual, as her lift is leaving early. She could go into the library and type a bit there,'
'It's called a Learning Resource Centre, and she may be too busy with last minute planning,' Moros was at his haughtiest. Desmond sighed. Plot Bunnies could be so childish sometimes. He turned and called over his shoulder, 'Morph, what's the plan for tomorrow?'
'Trip to Teesside Park in the morning and advertisments in the afternoon,' replied Morpheus, from his bed in the suitcase, 'That's the plan for the next two weeks. She's swapping classses with Andrea so they can fit both trips in before Christmas. Why?'
'No reason,' Desmond turned back to Moros, 'There you go. Lots of time.'
'You're only smug cos you got a big piece of chocolate ginger,' growled Moros, 'I didn't'
'Last time you were given chocolate you went all hyper and made Mummy kill off her favourite characters in her fantasy novel. You shouldn't have even been near it, you know it's Heph'Astuses plot. Anyway, you get plenty of carrot cake and ginger biscuits, quit moaning. You aren't going to get anything more this evening, that Charles II thing is on now. You've lost her!
Moros folded his paws and turned his back on Desmond. Well, if Lulie was going to be so common as to watch TV, let her. He'd read the CBB and snooks to them all. He'd put extra smilies on her posts, to get Lulie into trouble.
:P :P :P :P :P :P :P :P :P :o

Marshall, the collie / German Shepherd cross rolled over onto his back with a contented grunt and graciously allowed his human to tickle his belly. She was also murmuring sweet love messages in his ear to which he responded with the occasional languid thump of his bushy tail. It had been a tough couple of weeks but finally everything had returned to normal.

The problem had begun when his mistress had taken him out for his evening walk. They had marched up the steep hill on the outskirts of the village on a dark and blustery night. Suddenly a small but very vicious-looking rodent had accosted them. His human had done her best to ignore it but it was very persistent, bobbing up and down after them, trying to trip her up and generally refusing to take ‘no’ for an answer. Marshall had growled at the rabbity looking thing but had decided not to push his luck. He had never seen anything like it before as the bunnies in the fields he usually spotted were more like the Beatrix Potter characters he remembered from his youth. This creature was quite small and black, with something of the night about its sharp little features. Occasionally it seemed almost shadowy and at other times more substantial. Marshall had been surprised when his human had allowed it to follow them home.

His mistress referred to it as a plot bunny but it seemed to have no name until about halfway through its visit when suddenly, and rather inexplicably from Marshall’s point of view, she referred to it as Ellie. Ellie seemed to have a remarkable influence over his human. Marshall had rarely seen her laptop brought home from work but suddenly she seemed much more industrious than usual and would plug in almost as soon as she returned from work and also first thing in the morning. Every night she would tap away at the keys, pausing only to frown or grimace at the screen. Ellie had seated herself on the arm of the sofa, occasionally jumping on to his human’s shoulder to criticise or shout in the human’s ear. On a number of occasions his mistress seemed to be in some sort of conflict, the bunny urging her to type something and she disputing the story. Interestingly, the bunny always seemed to win. Marshall had tried to intervene on a number of occasions as he was rather jealous of both the shiny computer and the rabbit. He had put his cutest expression on his face, flopped one ear endearingly, fixed his mistress with an adoring look from his big brown eyes, and just to complete the effect, tilted his head to the exact angle which he knew she found irresistible. All to no avail. She had absent-mindedly tickled him under his chin and muttered ‘good boy’ before returning to the screen! Marshall’s ears had drooped and he placed his snout miserably between his paws. His position in the pecking order had been usurped!

Ellie seemed to take advantage of this and took a malicious pleasure in pulling Marshall’s tail and flicking his ears when his mistress wasn’t looking. She had even taunted Marshall that his human was thinking of sending him back to the dog’s home and whilst he was loyal enough to believe that he would never be betrayed in this way, he became ever more miserable. The quality time that he spent with his mistress on their walks had been invaded by Ellie. Gone were the pats and the chats they always had. His human seemed to be deep in thought, staring out into the distance and puzzling over whatever she had written on the laptop. Frequently, she would start nervously at shadows and almost leapt out of her skin when a stray branch bent in the wind causing some leaves to brush against her face like ghostly fingers. She was clearly not sleeping properly and Marshall could tell that her appetite had reduced dramatically. What on earth was going on?

And then, joy of joys and totally out of the blue, it was over as soon as it had begun. His human had tapped her last full stop with satisfaction, picked the bunny up by its stupid ears and booted it out of the house with severe instructions not to return. They were alone again at last.

I was sitting on the beach, seeking inspiration for my story, when I heard a little scampering behind me, and the noise of several pebbles rolling down the slope. I turned round and saw a gorgeous little rabbit, and that's how it all started. My plot bunny and I have only just met, but we can already tell that our relationship will be long and meaningful! His name is Dudley, and he's very cute, fluffy and small. He's also very shy, and tells me that he'll never have the courage to chat to all the other bunnies on here, cos they sound so sophisticated. He rather likes the sound of Hilde, though!  ;)

We have taken to snuggling up together on the settee, and he whispers lots of little ideas in my ear. Sometimes when I get tired of typing, he takes over. On the dancer drabble I said that I hadn't remembered typing a certain part of it - well, Dudley tells me it was him! (he?) Bless!

Dudley is mostly grey, but with white markings around his face, and a woffly nose. He enjoys carrots, jaffa cakes and Sherbert fountains (which he is allowed for a very special treat!) and he likes watching Friends and programmes about Ancient Egyptians. Musically, he's into Country & Western (especially the much lamented late Johnny Cash) and tries to play the guitar. He and I share a love of all the same books!

Brian the Bizarre Badger lay sprawled on the sofa, nursing his pint of gin in one hand and the television remote control in the other. He had dictated another Advent Drabble to Rachel earlier in the evening, and was now enjoying some "down time" in front of the telly, and was eagerly awaiting his lady friend arriving.

Cheryl the Chastity Cat put on another slick of scarlet lipstick and looked at herself critically in the mirror. Yes, the purple highlights she had been for certainly made the best of her looks, but she was not totally convinced yet by the support girdle. Ok, so she was getting a bit fat, and walking was diffcult for a cat when your belly is so round your paws don't reach the ground, but honestly, a girdle?Personally Cheryl had wanted the liposuction, but Rachel had told her firmly that she could only have the liposuction if she managed to get Brian to stop drinking his seventeen pints of gin a day.

Galadriel the Plot Bunny was majorly pissed off. Rachel refused to sit at the computer for hours on end and kept whining on about not being well. Well, Galadriel wasn't having it anymore. Fishing out a length of nylon rope, a set of manacles and a roll of gaffa tape, Galadriel sniggered wildly once before hiding away in the space beneath the desk. Rachel would come and sit down soon, but she would be unable to leave the desk until Galadriel decided to relent and release her [Mwahahahahahahahahahaha says Galadriel at this point]

Tallulah and Orlando, Rachel's youngest real cats, wandered the house with a perpetual look of terror etched on their kitten faces. They had thought they were being offered a good home when Rachel had spoken to their first mummy about taking them, but as time progressed, the kittens were beginning to think they had made a bad mistake in coming so willingly to this house. One of the first things to happen to them  was a journey, at the end of which, they were both stabbed twice with a needle. Several weeks later, they had been taken on another journey, which had even more serious consequences. Orlando in particular didn't like to discuss that event, but whenever he cleaned himself, he would pause at his rear end to contemplate the parts of his anatomy that once he had been so proud of, but now no longer existed.

Galadriel tied Rachel to the chair, just as planned. She cackled, she snorted, she chortled. After a while, she stopped, and allowed Galadriel a chance to speak . . .

Cyril the Slug lives in the downstairs loo. Not literally in the loo, but in the room containing the loo. He hears the sound of footsteps approaching his domain, and begins to get excited, perks up a little and prepares to assist, should Rachel ask.

Rachel wanders into the room, glances round and wanders back out again. Cyril sighs. It is yet another example of why Rachel does not deserve to have a "remembrance slug" of her own. She never uses his multitude of talents, never asks for help when sahe can't remember things, and never lets him out of the loo. Cyril is beginning to worry that Rachel has forgotten his very existence. But he has a plan.

Cyril has laid a trap - when Rachel next wanders into the loo room in search of something she has forgotten, he is going to slither onto her foot really really quickly (for a slug) and accompany her on her travels round the "Pit" (aka, Home) Once he is riding in state on her foot, he will be able to make suggestions. The only thing that worries Cyril is that he is the illegitimate offspring of Brian and Cheryl, and so far he hasn't had an opportunity to work out which of his parent's traits are strongest in him. This could have serious repercussions on the type of suggestion he makes to Rachel.

He is very very afraid it might be Brian   ;)

Susan's story starts about five years ago.

Lying in bed recovering from a bout of flu on an early December morning, Sue is getting bored. She has read CS books, Miss Read and several orther comfort books. She still doesn't feel well enough to be downstairs for a whole day so needs something else to do.  Her Mum came upstairs with a soothing cup of tea and her post.  Dropping the brown envelopes under the bed (too poorly to deal with nasties) she eagerly opened the plastic covering that held her cross stitch magazine.  Idly flicking over the pages marking some projects for when she felt better she came across a page of Christmas Cards. Her eyes lit up what a good idea something different - make cross stitch cards for the family.  So she did a whole seven.   Christmas came and went, so did New Year and during the following year Sue found that her output of cross stitching was very high. Birthday cards, pictures, wedding presents, baby presents were regularly churned out by her hot little needle.  Soon it was September and remembering last years cards wondered if she should do some more. Would there be any more patterns?  Sue started to haunt a certain well known high street book store to check out cross stitch magazines. Yay, she found exactly what she was looking for, a selection of traditional nativity pictures. Later that night Sue went to bed and sat gloating at her magazine. Out of the corner of her eye she suddely noticed a movement in the corner of the room, near the basket of soft toys.  Greatly daring Sue slid out of bed and went to see what it was. To her horror she realised that among the soft toys was a REAL bunny.

 'Whh....  Whhaaa... ' she spluttered.

The frightened bunny burrowed his way back among his unreal friends.  Realising she had scared him Sue gently removed the teddies, elephant, lamb and other assorted animals and found the bunny cowering in the bottom of the basket.  She lifted her out and sat on the bed cudling her. Thinking aloud Sue said 'I wonder where you came from?'

'I'm your creative bunny,' the bunny replied.

Instinct made Sue clutch the bunny rather than drop her on the floor.
'What ...' exclaimed Sue rather rudely.
The bunny went on to explain that she was called Carola the Creative bunny and had arrived the previous December with the cross stitch magazine, and she had been responsible for helping with all the creations in early part of the year.  Sue made a little nest for Carola at the end of her bed and she gave Sue many ideas including adding close friends to the cross stitch card list then the following year all the cards she sent were cross stitch.  Sue and Carola got on very well until July 2002 when Sue bought a computer which meant she didn't have so much time for cros stitching.  This problem got even worse when Sue discovered that you could find out about CS on the internet and she joined a club that sends magazines through the post and then to Carola's horror Sue found a site called CBB, which meant she spent even more time on the computer.  On this site Sue heard about things called 'Plot Bunnies' but decided she lived too far north for the bunnies.  Then one night Sue had a conversation with two ladies on the CBB who encoraged Sue to write a story.  Sue thought about it but was having other problems just then so didn't do anything about it. Then one night on the way home from work, on a dark November night, Sue was sat at traffic lights when she felt something warm and furry on her foot.  Turning on the light she tried to have a look but couldn't see anything. Arriving home she garaged the car and went indoors deciding it had been her inagination, but as she closed the front door thought she felt something run past her.  Later that night despite Carola's nagging that she was getting behind with her Christmas cards Sue sat reading CBB. Again she felt a warm furriness this time at the side of her neck and she managed to turn round in time to see a tiny little black and white thing sitting on her shoulder. It had a little red bow round it neck, after a while it allowed Sue to hold it and remove the label attached to the bow.  'With love from KB and Vikki' Sue read. What was it?  Then she remembered her conversation of a couple of weeks before. Oh no it was a Plot Bunny!!  Carola diappeared as fast as she could hop.  The bunny was very quiet at first and finally Sue found out his name. It was Monty and yeas he was a plot bunny, a very shy, very small plot bunny. KB and Vikki had sent him to encourage Sue to write but because she was so involved in RL issues she hadn't noticed him for a few days and he had taken to following her to work to try and get her attention.  He told Sue the start of a story but Sue had to go away for a couple of days and sadly had to leave Carola and Monty home alone. She left pleanty of food and drink but when she came back Carola had traumatised poor Monty and he was so upset he had lost his voice.  However, Sue being a patient sort of person is helping Monty over his trauma and as Carola has realised Sue is up to date with her Christmas work she has stopped beating Monty up and he is beginning to talk again. Today when Sue started to read the 'Introducing Our Plot Bunnies' thread for the first time he popped up out of the filing cabinet drawer and started telling her a story.  Which turned into this marathon.
Hopefully now he is feeling better he will tell Sue the rest of his other story.

Susan, I'm so glad you have Monty, let me asure you PB's thrive just well in the north as they do in the south. Monty sounds a very little chap, do be sure to feed him up well and let im get plenty of drabble writing exercise.

I suppose I'd better go and bring the story of my bunnies up to date, the last I told you was when Peter, Joan and Harold had trapped Oswald in the hutch that peter had made.

"We're going home, we're going home, we're going home" Ianthe and the rest of the plot bunnies danced around the room, singing triumphantly, while the essay bunnies lay exhausted on the bed.

Telesto wriggled "Suppose one of us had better go to themes and sources this morning" she murmured sleepily, at which the other essay bunnies began to snore not terribly realistically... "Fine, I'll go" Telesto muttered and slithered off the bed with a gentle thud even as the plot bunnies stopped mid-dance, Admete losing her balance on the edge of the desk and falling into the (thankfully empty) bin.

"Themes and sources... but that means.... MORE vacation work!" Admete squeaked, her voice taking on a strange resonance as it echoed out of the bin.  Xanthe scooped the fuzzy brown bundle out and put her gently on the floor.  "I did TELL you I'd have lots to do in the holidays" she remonstrated as the PBs glared at her.  "Look, I have to go or I'll be late," she continued "can we talk about this later please!" and with that she whirled out of the door, Telesto having hopped into her rucksack for the ride.

As Carola has had things her own way for so long, she is very jealous and is still terrorising Monty. who is feeling very bruised and delicate.  He is managing a whisper now and again but is a little bit too poorly to say too much. I am trying to keep them seperate, Carola is sitting on a cushion in the bedroom with a plate of lettuce and a dish of chocolate. Monty is wrapped up warm in a shoe box (he is that small) in the corner of the living room between the computer and the fire.  Unfortunatley, Carola seems to have learnt to open the bedroom door and is escaping when I'm at work and terrorising him a little more.  I don't dare bring him to work this week as we have a lot of contractors and and he is so little he might get squashed.  Tonight is Carola's night at her Creative Workshop (I take Mum to see her cousin who is also very creative and we sew or make things while we talk) so maybe if all goes well she will pipe down and let Monty have his turn.   At least I will be off over Christmas and New Year so should be able to spend enough time with them both to get them used to each other.

Does anyone have any building up food for very little, scared bunnys?  At the moment I am trying lots of chocolate and custard creams with a dash of Bailey's.

Poor Monty. Bailey's should work very well. Chocolate will help, and lots of warmth, love and attention.

(This is dreadful, I've written 2944 words about my bunny's so far.)

Over the course of the next few days Peter in particular had a wonderful time. He whispered lots and lots of ideas to Carolyn, and as well as the advent stories he had been writing had been telling Carolyn about some of his relatives that he wanted to invite for Christmas. Carolyn had cautiously agreed to this, telling Peter that she thought they sounded interesting, but that they mustn’t arrive until Harold and Joan had finished their work as otherwise there would be fights over the computer which wouldn’t be very nice, although she did shy that she had a wonderful recipe for rabbit pie if they did arrive early. Peter took the hint and wrote to his relatives, telling them to be ready to come as soon as he gave the go-ahead.
Harold and Joan meanwhile enjoyed the freedom of having Oswald locked up in the hutch. He couldn’t write nasty letters to the other assessment bunnies anymore, and this meant they could have a break. They lay in front of the cage, wriggling their toes and reading, something they took great pleasure in. They were happy with life, and saw no reason now to hurry Carolyn over her assessments. It was with some shock that Joan heard Carolyn telling a friend that she would have her draft of the child development assessment done within the week. Harold laughed at this. He could have a longer break, whilst Carolyn made Joan sit next to the keyboard and dictate notes about the role of the childcare and education worker in promoting and supporting child development. Harold yawned lazily, and wiggled his nose. He wiggled it again, and swatted a paw at whatever was tickling him. Opening one eye as the tickling continued he saw Peter waving a piece of tinsel over the tip of his nose.
“Too soon for that” he said turning over and lying on his front, cottontail up in the air. This was probably not a good idea, Peter in his boredom, Carolyn having left him at home whilst she and Joan went to college; was not to be deterred and whilst Harold dozed Peter died his tail blue, using a felt tip that one of Carolyn’s children had left lying around.

The following day, much to Harold, Joan and Peter’s dismay Carolyn finally freed Oswald and took him to school with her. Oswald had a huge grin on his face when he returned and acted very superior towards the other bunnies.
“No time, no time for your frivolity,” he said, “Carolyn has given me a huge observation to do, and it will take me the rest of the term to do the observing, never mind the writing up. Peter, I hope there are no more bunnies where you came from as Carolyn will be very busy writing up everything I’m going to be observing over the next few weeks.”
Peter hopped sadly away at this, and hid in the airing cupboard. Harold and Joan couldn’t do anything about it, he ignored all their pleadings and eventually Carolyn had to tempt him out with a plea to come and tell her the Christmas part of the advent drabble. Peter climbed slowly onto her shoulder and Carolyn took pity on him. She whispered something into his ear that cheered him up, and soon he was his own insouciant self again, ordering Carolyn back to the keyboard and having dictated a plan to her and an email to Rachel, he then had Carolyn checking the mail every 5 minutes whilst he waited to hear what Rachel’s PB’s thought of his latest idea.

Post by Katarzyna on Dec 8th, 2003, 2:17pm
Katarzyna had read the comments the kind CBBers had put after reading the whole of CS in Court and sat back in her chair feeling extreme happy and content, if not just a touch emotional.

“they liked it” she said smiling at Rupert
“of course they liked it” Rupert’s tone was insufferably smug “now, for your next story”
“hang on a minute, what do you mean ‘next story’” Katarzyna looked suspiciously at the small black spotted rabbit who was nestled in her cardigan pocket because the office heating system was on the blink yet again
“the next one your going to write” he said with exaggerated patience
“I’m not going to write anything just yet, I have some work to catch up with not to mention the fact I would like to get completely up to date before Christmas”
“but” Rupert’s nose wobbled unhappily
“but nothing, and its no good pulling that face at me”

Rupert subsided and said nothing for the rest of the morning, quietly sleeping whilst Katarzyna worked on the mornings post.  At lunch time the others left the office and Katarzyna, who had been organized for once the morning took out her packed lunch.
As the lunch box hit the table Rupert’s head popped out from her pocket
“so what are we doing this lunch time” he asked
“well I intend to each lunch” was the blunt reply as she reached for the fork
“but we always write during lunch time” Rupert’s tone was plaintive
“look I’m not starting anything new before Christmas I told you”
“you’ll be bored by Wednesday lunchtime” Rupert warned “and what if by then I don’t want to tell you what to write”
Katarzyna looked slightly concerned at this and asked tentatively
“what do you want me to write about?”

“You’d better take notes” he instructed in that infuriatingly superior tone that all pb’s adopt when they think they have won a argument with their humans.  Obediently Katarzyna pulled out her notebook and pen
“I gave you loads of different hints about where we might go while we were doing CS in Court”
“such as” Katarzyna knew her pb well despite the fact he had only been with her since the end of October.
“well, I didn’t give you all that detail on what the Maynard’s had been up to over the last 40 odd years for nothing”
“so”
“oh, come on there are at least two stories begging to be written”
“you might as well just tell me what you want to do first” Katarzyna sighed know that she would get little piece before she gave in
“In that case” Rupert’s tone brightened immediately “we can start with Felicity’s story of leaving school and presenting the first Maynard grandchild 10 months later and after that we can do the girl from the 1960’s that was expelled”
“Right” Katarzyna pulled Rupert out of her cardigan pocket and put him squarely in front of her on the desk “I will do the stories but on one condition”
“what” he said warily
“that I don’t start them till after Christmas”
“but”
“but nothing, I have work to do and the office is shut over Christmas so from the 23rd December to the 5th January I won’t be able to get onto the site”
“oh, I suppose that will have to do” Rupert said diving back in to the warmth of the cardigan pocket
“anything to keep you quiet” Katarzyna whispered after him
“I heard that” was the muffled reply

Sectioned?  As in for microscope slides?  What on earth did she do to deserve that?

*Hopes Vikki is just using arcane slang*

Oh, well, in that case ... the meeting could go on as planned, assuming Rachael’s friends choose an asylum with a nice meeting room.  Also cells for all the other plot bunnies and their persons.

You lot really are incorrigible!

*confident of not being sectioned prior to the Gathering but slightly worried that the men in white coats will be called in immediately after ...  ;)*

No need to worry... getting yourself sectioned's actually quite difficult...  ;)

*speaking from indirect personal experience, i.e. that of one of my (then) closest friends*
