Happy New Year, all! I'm feeling sort of OK at the moment, so thought I'd post a little.

Hilda gave Anna her instructions and returned to her seat, wondering how Elisaveta would react to this summons. A few minutes later, there was a knock on the door, and the Princess, looking very nervous, entered and made the deep court curtsey that she occasionally reverted to under strain. Then she stood very straight and eyed the company warily.
“You sent for me, Miss Annersley?”
Hilda rose and went to place a hand on the girl’s shoulder. She turned her to face Amelia.
“Professor and Mrs Emerson, Mr and Mrs Emerson, allow me to introduce you to Elisaveta of Belsornia.”
Elisaveta’s eyes widened as she heard her title, instead of the more usual ‘Elisaveta Arsonira.’ The Staff at the Chalet did not as a rule make a fuss about her rank. Realising that this was deliberate on the mistress’ part, though, she inclined her head in a grave nod, and Emerson and Ramses rose and gave a short bow. Amelia utilised one of the privileges of age and stayed where she was, but Nefret stood in almost the same position as the young girl, and Amelia, glancing at her quickly, was reminded once again that her daughter in law had once been High Priestess of Isis in an oasis in the Nubian desert- a heritage that had never entirely left her.
Emerson moved forward to take Elisaveta’s hand. As he had frequently said, he couldn’t give a curse for royalty or aristocracy, but he had a very soft spot for women in general and young girls in particular, and his chivalrous impulses, like those of his son, had gotten them in trouble more than once.  “Miss er- Annersley has told us of your situation,” he told her. “We will help in any way we can.”
Nefret smiled behind her hand at this, while Elisaveta’s jaw quite frankly dropped in shock.

Hopes the rumor that Rachel was seen buying Murderous Mince in Knockturn Alley isn’t true.

Hopes Lisa continues to recover and will write more soon.  (Suggests she avoid the pies, just in case.)

Rachel, I'm afraid I shall have to decline your kind offer of deadly poison a yummy mince pie, but thank you for your murderous intentions kind thought! :-/

Cyanide has a flavour/smell of bitter almonds - Vikki you were lucky the others were there to protect you!

My mince pies were the special kind with the added ingredient of almonds - which helps cover the taste of mincemeat!

Some of you people are just waaaaaaaaaaaay too suspicious for your own good!

I have a new word for you. In fact, two. Word number one: insatiable. Word number two: patience.

Look up both and write them out three times in your best typing, please. The first is a quality you all possess; the second one you sadly lack.  ;D

I haven't forgotten this one, honestly! I'll get back to it, if I can remember where I left off. I wish I'd never introduced Elisaveta.

Kathy, go and see the guy in the Khan el whatsit and get that umbrella point properly weighted and sharpened. Amelia would be ashamed of you! That brolly of yours wouldn't scare a pigeon!
