Just as everyone - including Hilda and Nell- had got nice and close to the big-eyed Sanity Cow, a loud noise emitted from the cow's rear end and a noxious smell filled the room. Everyone gasped and stepped back- fortunately. The Cow was standing with her back end towards the small fire. The sudden explosion of gas was the last straw and an almighty explosion ripped through the farmhouse, flinging all the inhabitants well and truly out of it.
As the smoke and thunder from the explosion died, Mary-Lou slowly raised her head to see the Sanity Cow walk placidly from the ruins, and then disappear in a puff of sparkly pink smoke.

A silence fell in the aftermath of the explosion, and KB eventually staggered to her feet, dragging a groaning Vikki with her.
"What happened?" KB asked, rather shakily.
"The cow!" mumbled Mary-Lou, who seemed to have gone into a trance.
"Where are Hilda and Nell?" Vikki demanded.
"Oh-er!" KB's eyes grew wide. "I hope they've not been knobbled," she said anxiously. "Especially since Lesley's nowhere around."
"Lesley may not be around, but I am!" and 'Carolyn' stood up with a cackle to reveal herself as Rachel the Witch!
"What've you done with the real Carolyn?" burst from Vikki.
Another cackle. "Wouldn't you like to know!"
"Yes we would," KB informed her trenchantly. "So tell us, or else we'll- we'll-"
"What?" asked Rachel sweetly, rolling her eyes at the HEad Girl in a manner calculated to make anyone nervous.
"We need Hilda!" KB whispered urgently in Vikki's ear. "Be a lam- er. Be a dear and run and find her, will you?"
Vikki nodded and vanished, too anxious to allow the situation to become a yibbling contest.
Oh. Sorry. that was just a repost...Next installment coming when i manage to dream it up! ;D

Lisa, that was dreadful. I thought there was a new part to the story.

I hope you post soon as D has just informed me that I'll hardly have the computer over the next few days as he has some sites to launch by Weds. I'll keep up to date on the horrid desktop, but won't be spending the 3+ hours I've been on here tonight.

"Hilda!" bellowed Vikki, quite forgetting the formal title.
"Here! I mean, I'm here!" came faintly from the green plastic bush Vikki had only narrowly avoided falling over. She gaped at it.
"But-but-"
"Maybe Rachel turned her into a plant!" KB mused, looking at the very green, very waxy looking organism.
The bush shook violently, and Mary-Lou, who had followed the other two, gave a squeak and jumped back.
"Don't be such a scaredy-cat!" the Head Girl snapped. "You were annoying enough before, but at least you had some gumption! Now you're just annoying and-and wet!"
"I'm quite dry!" Mary-Lou retorted nervously. KB made an indescribable sound, and turned back to the plant.
"Er- Miss Annersley," she began uncertainly, unsure just what manner should be used to address a Head Mistress who had metamorphisised into a plant. "Would you mind helping us, please?"

Mr Poky belongs to my brother and I. Whenver the two of us get together at our parents house, Mr Poky comes too. He bides his time discretely until at the worst possible moment, he begins the poky game. The rules are simple. Poke Thy Neighbour until you get a response from one of the parental units. (Normally along the lines of "What are you two up to THIS time?) The action at this point is to deny everything, but place the blame squarely on Mr Poky, who always wriggles out of any punishments. He normally sits quiet again until dinner time, when he starts up his little game under cover of the table. The winner is the one who doesn't get blamed by the parents.

As I have provided my parents with two grandchildren, and my brother has (to our knowledge) provided none, I usually win. Mainly because I have told my parents repeatedly that they cannot find fault with me in front of the children   ;D
The game then continues long into the night.

How we laugh.

Anyway, Mr Poky is here now and ready to begin his happy little sport.

"Xanthe!" came very decidedly from the bush.
"Huh?"
"Your English, Katherine! Where's Xanthe?"
"Xanthe? You mean- Oh. That Xanthe!"
"Yes, dear. My owl. Where is she?"
KB waved at Vikki to look for the owl, and a moment later saw Vikki appear with a very dazed looking white owl that chirped faintly.
"She's fainted again," Vikki said unnecessarily.
"So would you if you were blown up!" KB snapped, rather unwisely given the circumstances.
Vikki began to bristle, but a sharp reminder from the bush calmed her again. "Sorry, Miss Annersley. What was that?"
"Did you find her?"
"Oh. Sorry. Yes, we did. She's fine. She conk-er, fainted, but she's OK now!"
"Your slang!" complained the bush.
Carolyn-cum-Rachel sneaked up and let out a wild cackle that made Vikki and KB jump. "Mwhahahahaha! How do you like being a bush, Auntie dear?"
The bush maintained a dignified silence.

Mr Poky does not require a licence since he STARTED the entire world pokying.

He says you haven't paid for your franchise yet either, so you have to stop issuing licenses until after an audit

*LOL* The divine stuff came from Rachel and Xan's Mr Poky dialogue. I'd never even thought of including the bush from the moses story and I'm not gonna!

As for why I didn't post last night, i stupidly did not drink enough during the day and ended up with a very severe dehydration headache (in spite of drinking rather a lot when I twigged) so I couldn't bear to be at the pc, though I did try.Ended up going to bed early which was annoying as I'd wanted to write another chapter and add to this and could do neither!

There was a stunned silence as everyone digested this.
Then Miss Wilson's voice spoke for the first time- also from the bush. "Don't be ridiculous, girls. How could we become a green plastic bush?"
"But-but-but-" Mary-Lou jabbered wildly in her efforts to explain.
"Maybe Rachel sent them to Hell," Vikki muttered to KB, causing that young lady to frown heavily at her.
"Or maybe Catherine and her mob of plot bunnies got them," Vikki continued, seemingly bent on going through every member of the CBB."
"Or maybe EBD got them at last?" KB supplemented sarcastically. "Vikki, shut up and let someone else get a word in edgewise, will you?"
"You don't seem to have anything useful to say!" Vikki snapped back at her.
Xanthe started flapping wildly at this, causing the other two to look at her.
"What's up with the owl?" Vikki enquired in surprise.
KB looked thoughtful. "Well, her name is Xanthe," she pointed out meaningly.

"It's Xanthe from the CBB and she wants to join in the yibbling!" the other declared.
Having settled this to their satisfaction, everyone turned their attention back to more weighty matters- the bush.
"If you're not a bush, why don't you get up?" KB demanded with more point than politeness. The bush snorted and waved wildly in response to this, causing everyone to step back.
"Maybe they've got trapped?" Mary-Lou suggested timidly.
"Finally! Some sense at last!" growled the bush in Miss Wilson's voice.
Vikki and KB were struck dumb with surprise, this eminently simple solution having not occurred to them. Once they had twigged, they went with Mary-Lou to push, prod and pull until the unfortunate Heads of the Chalet School were once more on their feet again, although looking very much the worse for wear.
"Now what will we do?" Hilda demanded, trying to pin her hair up again.
"The bed!" Mary-Lou told her fimly.
Meekly, they all followed her over to the bed, and everyone climbed on it, including Carolyn-cum-Rachel, to the discomfort of the others.
With a most Rachel-like cackle, she produced the requisite knob, and the great bedstead began to float and rise into the sky.

Well I know Rachel and I are plotting together at the moment, but I think it is time we were separated again here. It's beginning to feel rather crowded with two people, two sanity cows, a chastity cat, a morality pig, a bizzare badger, a purity pigeon, and all the sequel spiders that haven't been killed yet.

The Dog of Death is an adorable Labrador puppy, with deep black eyes and floppy ears. He snuggles up to me when I write, but every time he does I end up writing a death scene.

The purity pigeon flutters around my head, dropping strange white stuff whenever I write something he doesn't think is suitable for our sensibilities. It hides what I write, but smells dreadful so I'm learning not to upset him, or to lob a bookend when I see him coming.

According to todays Daily Mail or Daily Express (Can't remember which - firm supplies both along with Sun & Mirror) staying awake for 19 hours has the same effect as drinking a glass of wine.  Can't say that I've noticed it.  Mind you the same article said that adult humans need 8 hours sleep a night - I shouldn't think I've slept for that long since I was a baby, and it seems an awful waste to sleep a whole third of the day away anyway.

This did not worry anyone unduly. It was a flying bed. They expected it to fly, and in any case they were too worried about the huge grin on the face of Rachel-cum-Carolyn.
"I've just remembered something," KB said as they settled themselves as comfortably as they could. As several of them were of at least average height, and Mary-Lou and the two Heads were frankly tall women, it was something of a struggle. Finally Vikki, who had watched the others squirming with an indulgent smile, turned to the HG.
"What?"
"Lesley! We've left her in Rachel's clutches!"
"That's what you think!" purred Carolyn-cum-Rachel.
Vikki looked at her doubtfully. "But you're Carolyn!" she objected.
Carolyn-cum-Rachel smirked, and Vikki felt a feeling of dread creep over her.
"You're not Carolyn?" The other shook her head. "You're Rachel the Witch?"
"Yup!"
"So where's Carolyn?" objected the Head.
"I ate her," Rachel said solemnly. "She told me she was having students for lunch. I took her literally. Well, she's a student, isn't she? Very tasty she was too," Rachel finished, with a reminiscent lick of her lips.

As for Carolyn, she's done nothing. But all those cracks about having students for lunch were too good to miss. Besides, I was starting to feel stressed with all the characters. I hadn't intended on knobbling Carolyn but it just happened- and it makes it easier for me to deal with!! ;D ;D

I'm not sure about that, I don't fancy being hit by somthing sharp and pointy as it comes down the chute. It's very dark here as well so she would have to swallow a light so I could see what I was doing.

Don't know if I can locate her appendix in the dark. Still it is a good idea and I'll stomp on everything and punch and generally through a tantrum until she has sever gut ache and they operate to find out why.

I only like my food raw on special occasions, usually when I have no time to prepare, but Carolyn was roasted with thyme and just deeeelishus!

All I can say is that I am most definatly in one piece, and with all my senses intact. And Rachel, I have every intention of getting out, one way or another. I don't want to take the downwards route, but I will if I have to in the sure and certain knowledge that it will cause you far more pain that it will me.

Rachel leered at her and reached into her pocket and pulled out a two inch tall Lesley in a toy moped.
They all squinted at her.
“She’s even smaller than me!” exclaimed Vikki, absurdly pleased by this fact.
“Than *I*, you mean,” the Head corrected. Everyone rolled their eyes.
“What’s that she’s waving?” KB demanded, going a little too close to the miniature Lesley. “Ow!” as the bed jolted unexpectedly, and KB got a blow on the nose.
“What did she do?” Vikki asked curiously, as KB rubbed that abused feature.
“She stabbed me,” the Head Girl admitted ruefully.
They gaped at her. “*Stabbed* you? What with?”
KB rubbed her nose again. “I think it was a needle from a syringe,” she said at last.
“Ooooooooh-er!” Rachel dropped Lesley, moped, and syringe.
“May we have her back now then?” Nell asked eagerly. She was feeling well disposed towards Lesley,  now that she knew that she and Hilda had escaped into the Real World.
Rachel gave a spectacular leer. “That depends.”
“On what?”
“You don’t get sommmat for nuffink in any world, you know. In return for Lesley, I demand……………”

The Heads beamed at her. “Welcome, my dear!” Hilda said warmly.
“Er. Um. Nice to see you too,” Lesley muttered, blushing with confusion.
Mary-Lou waved an impatient hand. “Take it as read,” she ordered the Heads. “In the meantime, shouldn’t we be starting to lower towards earth by now?” She peered over the edge of the bed, and they saw the distant sphere of earth recede ever further…………

Lesley frowned. There was something oddly familiar about all this, and she was sure it wasn’t ‘Bedknobs and Broomsticks.’ There were too many stars, for one thing. Stars. She sat bolt upright, nearly dislodging Hilda in the process. That lady lost her renowned calm for an instant and gave vent to a wild shriek which terminated abruptly as Nell grabbed her.
“What now?” Nell asked crossly. “As if you haven’t done enough to Hilda and I as it is- even if it *did* work out in the end. Are you now trying to finish Hilda off altogether by shoving her over the edge? We’re not playing ‘Ten Little Monkeys’, you know!”
“Never mind that!” Lesley squeaked in her excitement. “I know where we are!”
“You do?” Hilda raised an eyebrow. “Congratulations, my dear. We’re in space!” The words were gently spoken, but with an edge. Lesley did not even appear to notice.
“Well, yes. But that’s now what I mean!”
“Explain!” Nell commanded.
“I think we’re in a galaxy far, far, away,” Lesley told them in a hushed voice.
Her auditors looked blank. “Star Wars!”
Hilda looked mildly worried. “You mean we may be caught in some kind of intergalactic war?”
Lesley bounced slightly in her frustration. “At the very least. It-“ She never finished the sentence. Hurtling towards them was a long white triangular shape, and the last thing they each heard were the screams of the others as they collided.

I love singing, but I don't think I sound very good... I belong to two choruses at Uni, and I used to sing with my school choir and chamber choir.  I did one solo at a Christmas concert, in my Lower VI year, and it was a TERRIFYING experience (I mean for me, but suspect the same could be said for the audience!)

“Ouf!” she muttered.
She opened one eye. And then opened both. Mary-Lou rose to her feet so quickly she almost flew, and, with one eye on the track, she rapidly shook, hissed and slapped the others until they returned to consciousness. Then they all got off the railway line in short order. Mary-Lou had a funny feeling that ‘bodies on the line’ would not be well received as an excuse for late trains, even from BR.
“Where are we?” Hilda asked shakily. She was very white.
Lesley handed her a hanky. “Mop up,” she said sympathetically. “You’re covered in that white dusty stuff.”
“I wonder what it is?” Nell wondered aloud, doing the same herself.
“Stardust. Or moondust. Or just normal dust!” Lesley told her. “Although I must say, you look like a ghost, Miss Wilson. Between your hair and..” Lesley’s voice trailed off as she choked back a giggle. Miss Wilson’s eyes and black brows looked even more startling against such a pale background.
“Why are we at a train station?” Mary-Lou conmplained.
Nell froze and a beatific smile spread across her face.
“A train station. English voices. And *rain!* Hilda, we’re in England! We’ve escaped from that nasty America place!”
“Good!” said Mary-Lou firmly. “I’m not going there again. I’m not hanging around here either. Nell, don’t forget that money. I’m going back to Egypt!”
Hilda looked at her friend. “What money?”
Nell gave an evil smile. “Just some money I promised Mary-Lou. I didn’t tell her it’s in my will. Or that I don’t intend to die for a long time yet!”
“I’m glad to hear it!” Hilda responded. “Shouldn’t we be trying to get back to Switzerland?”
“You won’t be able to,” Lesley said simply.

“Why not?” came from Rachel on the ground. The others had simply dragged her anyhow, more out of concern for the miniature KB and Vikki than anything else.
Vikki and KB squeaked and shrieked, and Hilda moved to let them out. They slid away from Rachel with amazing rapidity. As soon as they were further than ten cms away from her, they returned to their normal sizes- more or less. Only now KB was smaller than Vikki, but they were so happy to be humans rather than Borrowers that they didn’t complain.
“Why won’t we be able to go to Switzerland?” Hilda asked.
“Because this is Platform Nine and Three Quarters, and you need to go through there to get anywhere!” Rachel mumbled from the ground.
The Heads looked from her to Lesley, who nodded.
“She’s right!”
“So what do we do then?” Vikki demanded.
“Run into that pillar there!”
They looked at Lesley, then the pillar, and then back again.
KB groaned. “Harry Potter! I might have known it!”
“*You* should be OK, Miss Annersley,” Vikki said mischievously.
The Head smiled at her. “Not quite, my dear. We never did this. We just wrinkled our noses and visualised where we wanted to be! By the way, I think it’s time you pair started calling me ‘Auntie Hilda’.”
KB and Vikki turned to each other, their faces wide with smiles. “Yes!” they exclaimed in unison, slapping their right hands together. The Heads watched them with a faintly puzzled expression.
Lesley took a deep breath. “Are we ready?” she said to the other CBBers.
“What about her?” KB asked, looking at the prone Rachel.
“I suppose we need to take her along,” Vikki groused. “She *is* a CBBer after all.”
“I’ll send her straight to the Head for a Report,” KB promised. “That’ll larn her!”
“If you say so,” Vikki replied pessimistically.
“Stop yibbling, you two,” Lesley ordered. “Let’s link up, and then we’ll go through.”
They did as she said and waved their free hands at the Heads before led by Lesley, they all ran through the pillar and vanished.
“I didn’t expect that to happen!” remarked Nell, openmouthed.
Hilda smiled at her. “Shall we do the same?”
“Are you sure?”
“We can only try!”
As the others had done before them, they ran head first into the pillar…

Hilda groaned and put out a hand in the darkness. A yelp beside her told her she had hit her friend.
“Nell?”
“H’mm?”
“What are we doing here?”
“I can’t remember,” Nell said groggily. “But I think I bumped my head!”
“I really don’t know what we’re doing,” Hilda said dreamily. “But I do know that this position and the mothballs are doing terrible things to my nose and my arthritis!”
“Where’s my feet?” Nell asked suddenly.
Hilda thought about this carefully. “Are they on the floor?”
Nell sat up so quickly the fur coats moved wildly.
“Yes! Of course that’s where they are! Hilda, you’re a genius!” and the younger woman slid out of the wardrobe onto her bedroom floor.
There was a pause.
“Aren’t you coming?”
“In a moment. I can feel something!”
“Don’t take all day about it!” Nell told her as she pounced on her beloved cigarette case.
“Yes. Ah! I’m coming now.” And with another groan, the once stately Head of the Chalet School slithered out on to the floor in a most ungraceful fashion. She struggled to her feet.
Nell blew a perfect smoke ring as she watched. “What’s that?” she asked, waving her cigarette at something the Hilda had in her hand.
“It appears to be a stuffed owl!” Hilda raised it and looked at it closely. She frowned. “There’s really something very familiar about it.”
“It’s just a stuffed-“ Nell stopped and stared at the owl.
“Xanthe,” the Head whispered. Their eyes met.
“That’s what I thought,” Nell responded.
“Then-“
“We’ve had the same dream!” Nell flicked her cigarette end and the ash went everywhere.
