Title: Alternative to exile
Post by claire on Jul 13th, 2003, 2:22pm
(I know we have the Biggles story as an alternative but what if the girls don't manage to escape Austria - I'm starting it from where they are all in cave and Jem is about to leave after telling them of the escape plan)

He held Jo close for a moment, murmuring something in her ear.  Then her released her, and departed.  They heard his footsteps dying away down the passage, and they were alone again.  Jo, with a startled expression on her face, turned to helping clear up, for they must leave no traces of their presence here.
The faint echoing of footsteps started again.  The girls jumped.
"It must be Doctor Jem, he's forgotten to tell us something." Miss Wilson muttered, as much to convince herself as to reassure the girls.
"It can't be," Evadne interrupted "That's more than one set of footsteps."
They all strained their ears, the american was right, The footsteps, louder now, were getting closer and they could hear several different treads, followed but one stifled deep cough, definately male and definately not Jem Russell.  The passageway had never seemed so long as they anxiously waited for discovery.

Jo whimpered as the footsteps became ever more audiable and slowed as they aproached the door, all were silent as they saw the door nob turn, the door creaked open. There was a load gasp from the women in the room as they saw who stood at the door...

The half-dozen men in uniform halted in the doorway, and the faintest hint of a smile tugged at the corners of the mouth of the man in front, who was clearly the commander. Even if they rushed back down the passageway behind them, they could only get as far as the church, as their captor knew.

(BTW, do we all realise how depressing this will get?)

Joey knew in her heart what was coming, but she still wanted to ask, 'Who are you?'
'Mein Frulein, we are your, angels or mercy,' he chuckled sneeringly, then his mood changed, he ordered his men in and above the womens screams yelled, 'You have all done wrong, we are your captors, you have sinned against the great frurher!'
