Title: Santa in July? (Real CS) Mk3a
Post by Lesley on Dec 17th, 2003, 7:15pm
*OK everyone, hope this will work - as Carolyn's Advent drabble seems stable I'll repost everything that hasn't been archived - having suffered with thread eating monster before I don't think the threads are retrievable!*

Later the men unlocked the door and walked in, both women stood and waited while the man called Alan swiftly handcuffed both of them. They were taken out into the main room and across to where the third man, in the blue ski suit, was sat in front of the computer equipment. He turned and smiled at the women,

“Your friend is here again, regular as clockwork,” he sneered, and both women could see that Nell Wilson was on the screen, “she thinks by doing this she’ll save your lives!”

“Enough, Mark!” The man in red cut across, and the younger man flushed slightly and turned away, “Alan, how long?”

“A few minutes, dad,” Alan was now seated in front of another laptop, busy punching in commands that would connect it to an overhead satellite, a short time later he sat back, satisfied, “we’re in!” he announced.

The older man held an arm of each woman and propelled them to seats near to where Alan sat, “When we need information from you,” he said softly, and his tones seemed to make him suddenly far more dangerous than either of the other two men, “you will provide it, immediately. Should either of you refuse, I will hurt the other. Do you understand?”

Both Miss Annersley and Louise nodded quickly. The next few minutes everyone sat in silence as the man called Alan moved through different screens, eventually he stopped and turned to the women and began asking for passwords. Both Miss Annersley and Louise answered correctly and the transaction continued. At one point the security screen requested thumb prints from both of them. One at a time the hand cuffs were taken off just long enough for Miss Annersley and Louise to place their thumbs on the screen and allow the security scanner to check their prints.

After about 40 minutes, with the last passwords being given, the order to transfer all funds to a different account was given, after a short wait the message came up on screen that the entire contents of the account had been transferred. The three men exchanged smiles, their bank account was richer by many millions of dollars!

As they were still congratulating themselves, Miss Annersley quickly looked around, the front door was too far away so she indicated to Louise that they should move back toward the small room. They had managed to get almost to the door when the big man’s voice stopped them,

“Where are you going?” His face was alight with greed and triumph.

Miss Annersley didn’t answer, motioning Louise inside while herself trying to retrieve the key from the lock. She managed it just as the big man turned casually to the one in blue,

“They’re not needed now, kill them!”

As Miss Annersley swiftly entered the room and kicked the door closed she saw the man nod and walk casually across the room.

“Lean against the door Louise,” she said urgently, “If I can lock the door it may give us some time!”

Louise did so, holding the door shut against the man’s first push. Before he could summon more strength Miss Annersley has managed, working behind her back, to turn the lock.

The Head stepped further back in the room, “Stay behind me, Louise,” she ordered, “It’s not going to take him long to get through that door!”

Indeed as she spoke they both heard the man curse and then there were the sounds of gunfire as he methodically shot the lock. After three or four shots a kick from him caused the door to fly open. He stared inside at the two women and smiled. Looking at the gun in his hands he shook his head,

“I think I’ll enjoy this more if it’s a little more personal,” he said, he placed the gun back in its holster and retrieved a long knife. Holding it, ‘commando-style’ between his thumb and fingers, he advanced upon the two women…

The night before had been extremely busy, Nell Wilson returned from the kitchen after a conversation lasting more than 30 minutes,

“He’ll do it!” she announced, the Prefects looked around in some puzzlement and she continued, “Marshall Mathers, Eminem, will first thing in the morning, announce that he’s to pay a flying visit to Mt Hotham ski resort, he’ll be here before lunch.”

Miss Annersley smiled, “that should keep most of the resort off the slopes tomorrow then,” she said,

“But how are we going to get up there? They will still be watching the cable car and there’s too many of us to easily disguise.” The query came from Carol.

“There’s no other way to get to the upper slopes, and its there that Louise is being held,” Alison put in.

The two Heads looked at one another, “We may have to involve some others, Hilda,” Miss Wilson’s voice was solemn, “some of the instructors perhaps?”

Miss Annersley thought for a moment, “What about Tom? He’s Chief Instructor after all.”

“And his partner?”

“Well, we may need some input from the police, and at least he’s not likely to be too inquisitive about our origins.”

Tom, when contacted, had travelled over to the chalet, the Heads had told him the problem,

“So you need a way to get to the upper slopes without anyone, watching the cable cars, knowing?” He said at the end, “I think I have an idea how that can be achieved,”

“The other thing is to try and work out exactly where they are,” Miss Wilson continued, “It can’t have been that far from where you found me, Hilda, as it was only a short time after seeing him that I got hit on the head!”

Tom spread some old maps of the mountain on the table, “These show the buildings around before the resort was opened up,” he said, “We should be able to find it here.”

The other man at the table coughed slightly, “Am I to understand, ladies, that you intend to tackle these men yourselves?” Tom’s partner, James, the policeman put in.

He was suddenly assailed by 16 pairs of eyes and gulped slightly, turning his back on the Prefects cut the number of eyes down to two pairs but as they were the blue-grey eyes of Miss Annersley and the grey eyes of Miss Wilson he didn’t actually feel any better.

“Don’t you think that this is a job for the police?” He asked softly.

“No we don’t,” Miss Wilson’s flat response allowed no argument. “Tom, I thought you said he’d understand?”

“I did, and he will!” Tom looked at his partner in annoyance. “Look Jim, they know what they’re doing, the kidnappers have specified no police anyway, and, in the time available there’s not time to get any specialist forces up here.”

“If we manage to rescue our pupil,” Miss Annersley put in softly, “the fate of the kidnappers may be left in your hands. They are the ones responsible for the bank robbery after all.”

“So they are,” James latched onto that news as a way of retrieving himself from the twin blasts from those eyes, “very well, I can provide equipment but I insist on joining the attempt,”

Nell Wilson shrugged, “the more the merrier,” she quoted, “although it looks like I’ll be the only one not taking part!”

There was the sound of a jeep outside and, a few minutes later, a knock on the door, the American Gene Duchek, had arrived. The Heads quickly filled him in on events while some of the girls helped him unload myriad different pieces of computer equipment from his jeep. He smiled at both women,

“I think I can provide a number of practical pieces of help,” he said, “let me explain,”

By the time morning arrived the rescue party was ready. All the Prefects had insisted that they be a part of it, even Lyn, and the heads had allowed all of them to suit up and get ready. James, the policeman had disappeared with his partner back to the police station and returned with a number of pieces of equipment including body armour and helmets for everyone, thunder flashes and batons. He had flatly refused requests that he issue weapons!

Both Nell Wilson and Tom had maps and a reasonable idea of the location. On the old map they had discovered two or three old buildings that were within a reasonable distance of where Nell had seen her Santa! Before leaving Miss Wilson had also contacted the Masons and asked that they spread the word about Eminem’s lunchtime appearance. One of the resort minibuses had been co-opted and the party drove out with most of the equipment and members hidden in the back. Any hidden watcher would only have seen a resort minibus with two or three employees. Soon after it had left, the crowds that had started to gather, to await Eminem’s appearance, were sufficient that the watcher would not even consider that the minibus had not returned.

Left back in the chalet, Miss Annersley mentally prepared herself for her part in the operation, while quietly talking with the American computer wizard.

The rescue party headed toward the bobsleigh run; as Tom had explained, there was a cable car to further up the mountain there. It was not often used but the car was fully functional, the plan was to travel across country near the top of the mountain. Although not an easy journey, none of the skiers were novices and it was thought that they would manage the distance easily. The plan was to arrive in time to find the hut and rescue both Louise and Miss Annersley. Miss Wilson kept in contact with Gene Duchek via mobile phone and he was able to tell her what stage the transaction had reached - he had constant contact with the bank in which Louise’s money was deposited.

The party had searched two huts and were just travelling to the third when Gene contacted Miss Wilson with the news that the final stages of the transfer of money were just starting. They arrived outside the hut and silently discarded skis and sticks. Placing the body armour and helmets on, they waited a signal. Carol, creeping close to a window, reported that all three men and their two prisoners were grouped around some computer equipment in a corner furthest away from the door. As she watched, information came from Gene that the transfer was complete. Carol saw Miss Annersley and Louise start to move away from the men. She quickly ran back to Miss Wilson and the two men,

“Now’s our chance,” Miss Wilson’s voice was low to prevent it carrying, “Jim are you ready?” She looked across at the policeman, he had a number of thunder flashes in his hands, he gave some to Carol who immediately went back round to the window. Jim stood next to the door, with his partner beside him, ready to open the door on his signal, Helen stood next to Carol ready to smash the window. Miss Wilson and the rest of the Prefects waited outside the door, ready to rush in.

On the signal the door was wrenched open and window smashed, a number of thunder flashes were thrown in and the rescue party crouched down, waiting. The explosion of both noise and light simultaneously both deafened and blinded the two men inside. Almost before the explosions had finished the party rushed in, the big man in red managed to fire once, the bullet impacting harmlessly against body armour, before he was hit by both Jim and Tom simultaneously. They both attempted to subdue him but found his strength exceptional, three of the Prefects joined them with little effect although they did manage to disarm him. It wasn’t until the policeman drew his revolver and ordered the man to surrender that he was finally subdued.

The thin man in yellow was hit while still seated in front of the computer screens, he didn’t even get the chance to use his gun before he was attacked by a number of the girls and it was wrenched from him. Carol Leigh stood holding the weapon expertly and ordered the man to surrender, her tone quite clearly saying that she actually wanted the opportunity to use the weapon!

*And new today!!! ;D*

In the small room to the right, the man in blue slowly advanced on the two women; the knife held loosely in his hand, glistening as it reflected light. He had taken only a few steps when the noise and light of the thunder flashes erupted. Although protected from their main effect, and still able to see and hear, the noise startled him and he spun around.

“That’s help coming,” Miss Annersley’s voice was low and steady, “You have nowhere to run, I suggest you surrender.”

The man shook his head to rid himself of the lingering effects of the flashes,

“I’m doing nothing until I’ve silenced you, love.” His voice all the more menacing as there was no recognisable emotion behind it. He continued to advance on the two helpless women. Reaching the Head he easily dodged her attempt at kicking him and stepped closer, holding the knife against her throat.

“You first, then the girl,” he hissed, a movement to the side caused him to twist around slightly and side-step Louise’s try at head butting him. He grabbed hold of her and threw her against the wall. She collapsed to the floor, stunned. He returned to Miss Annersley, forcing her back until she was pressed against the rear wall of the room.

“Now which would you prefer?” He asked, almost conversationally, “A quick death or a slow one?”

“Neither!”

For a moment the female voice didn’t register, then, suddenly, the man realised that the woman in front of him, her blue-grey eyes boring into his defiantly, had not spoken. He glanced quickly at the girl but knew it wasn’t her voice either. This voice was more mature, and held a promise of suppressed anger and violence. Eyes widening in comprehension, he suddenly spun around, attempting to drag the Head with him as a shield. He was too late.

Nell Wilson stood behind him, holding a police baton in both hands, as the man turned she swung with all her not inconsiderable strength. The end of the baton caught the man beneath his jaw and almost lifted him from his feet. He was flung to one side where he crashed into the wall before collapsing, unconscious, to the floor.

Miss Wilson looked over at her friend, “On the whole, I’m really rather glad that you won our last argument, Hilda, that was far more satisfying than being the hostage!”

Miss Annersley took a deep breath then smiled, “You’re late, Nell,” she began, and her voice was still calm and composed, “What kept you?”

Miss Wilson looked across indignantly at her friend and opened her mouth to say something; a movement from Louise instead attracted both Heads’ attention.

“Louise, are you hurt?” Miss Annersley’s voice showed her concern,

Louise smiled and sat up, “A little stunned that’s all, Miss Annersley,” she waited while Miss Wilson released her handcuffs, and then stood up, hugging first one then the other woman, “thank you both,” she said simply.

There was a commotion at the door, as a number of the Prefects appeared to welcome Louise back to their number. In addition, Jim came to claim his third prisoner. He snapped cuffs on the still unconscious figure in blue,

“What did you do to him?” he asked Miss Wilson, “It looks like you’ve broken his jaw!”

“He’s lucky it’s not his neck!” Miss Wilson replied grimly, she and Miss Annersley walked out into the main room of the hut.

They passed the thin man in yellow, still being covered by Carol, even though he was now securely cuffed himself. The man looked at Miss Wilson and then over at one of the computer screens. On the screen was the figure of Miss Wilson keeping her ten-minute appointment. Miss Wilson caught his puzzled look and stopped,

“Back in our chalet,” she remarked conversationally, “there is a man who claims he can make a computer sit up and beg! I believe him. What you are seeing there is something called a computer generated image. I spent at least two hours last night being scanned and photographed, and my voice recorded, so that Gene could project that image and make you think I was still at the chalet!” She smiled at the comprehension flooding his face.

The two Heads moved a little further to where the big man in red sat. As well as having his hands cuffed behind him, the man was wearing leg irons. He spat when he saw Miss Annersley,

“You think you’ve won?” He said harshly, “But you gave all the correct passwords, that girl’s money is mine! There’s no way it can be traced or retrieved. I’ll use it to beat any charges and I’ll be free within days. You’d better start running woman!”

Miss Annersley smiled, “You have nothing,” she said softly, “Louise’s money is safe in her bank account, and you did not even come close!”

A number of the Prefects, including Louise herself, wandered over to listen to the Head,

“That same computer expert spliced into the bank’s computer and retrieved all their security information – not difficult as he wrote most of the programmes. When your son hacked into the satellite and the bank computer it was automatically routed to him. You have been exchanging information with him for the last hour, not the bank!”

The Prefects all laughed, as they wandered outside there were snippets of conversation coming back, the main part being that the Prefects expected Louise to pay for all their drinks from now on! In vain did the girl try to insist that she had the same allowance as the rest of them!

Miss Wilson smiled across at her friend, “Are you alright, Hilda?” she asked softly,

Miss Annersley nodded, “I’m fine, Nell.” She replied, “I do however have one question,”

“Oh, what’s that?” Miss Wilson’s smile grew wider.

Miss Annersley turned an impassive face toward her friend and deputy, “Nell Wilson, exactly how long do you intend to keep me wearing these cuffs?”

Title: A little later, aRe: Santa in July? (Real CS) Mk3a
Post by Lesley on Dec 17th, 2003, 10:52pm
*Yeeeeesssss! Feel I may have created Frankinstein's monster! However as I really enjoy writing these it's not outside the realms of possibilty that there will be more adventures in the New Year! For now - we're very close to the end - perhaps only a few posts to go!*

A little later, after finally being released by her friend, Miss Annersley shepherded her charges back down to the resort. Luckily there were no injuries other than a few cuts and bruises, even Louise had not been seriously hurt, although she was showing signs of exhaustion. When the other Prefects would have dragged her out for a celebratory drink, the Heads insisted that everyone remain indoors that night.

The impromptu concert given by Eminem had been a great success, and had served to detract attention from police action on the upper slopes. Neither Miss Annersley nor Miss Wilson had wanted any publicity attached to themselves or the School and had denied all responsibility for the three-man gang’s capture. Jim had managed to convince his superiors that he had just stumbled on the hut by accident and, with his friend, had managed to capture the gang. While it was always possible that the gang itself would try to tell the real story, it was not thought likely. To do so would mean confessing that they had been outwitted by two school teachers and a bunch of girls! Pure pride would ensure they remain silent!

After managing to thank Gene and also calling Bill Gates, the Heads settled down for a reasonably quiet evening, early in the evening there was a short visit from Marshall Mathers himself. On being told of Louise’s identity he promptly invited her to his next concert with back stage pass. He didn’t remain for long, however, as his speech seemed very stilted whenever he caught sight of the Head!

After the very broken night’s sleep the night before, everyone retired early…

It was about 2am when Nell Wilson suddenly awoke, having heard a noise. She glanced over at her friend’s bed and saw, with consternation, that it was empty. Swiftly rising and pulling on her dressing gown, she stumbled out, seeking Hilda Annersley and secretly dreading what she might find. Down in the lounge, one of the side lamps was switched on and the fire had been turned up. Miss Annersley was sat on one of the sofas, her back to the stairs.

“Hilda? Are you alright?” Nell Wilson called across as she made her way down the stairs,

The Head turned, raising a finger to her lips to indicate quiet, she pointed to the figure beside her. Curled up on the sofa next to Miss Annersley, with her head resting on Hilda’s shoulder, was Louise Chad. The girl was almost asleep and had obviously been crying. Miss Annersley had her arm around the girl and was slowly rocking her to sleep.

“Hello Nell,” she said, “I should have guessed that you would awaken,”

Miss Wilson sat on one of the stools opposite, “I thought you were the one in trouble, Hilda,” she said softly,

Hilda Annersley smiled, “Not for nearly four months now, Nell.” She began, “But I had a feeling that Louise would be affected, I only dozed during the night, waiting for her to wake up.”

“Have you been here long?”

Hilda shook her head, “Only 40 minutes or so,” she said, “Louise just needs a little support, needs to know she’s not alone. She’ll be fine.”

They both glanced down at the sleeping girl.

At first light Louise stirred, she was lying full length on one of the sofas, using the cushions as pillows. A couple of throw rugs covered her and kept her warm. On the sofa opposite sat the two Heads, halfway through a game of cards, they both had a cup of hot coffee next to them. As she moved they both looked across at her and smiled,

“Are you feeling any better, Louise?” It was Miss Annersley who asked the question,

Louise sat up, remembering the night before, “I’m feeling a lot better now, Miss Annersley,” she smiled slightly, “did you both sit up with me all night? I am sorry, I didn’t mean to be a nuisance.”

Miss Wilson rose and came across to the girl, lifting her onto her feet she hugged her quickly, “Our pleasure, Louise,” she smiled. “You will never be considered a nuisance.”

“If you need our company again, Louise, you only have to ask.” Miss Annersley’s beautiful voice conveyed sympathy, “now you’d best get back to your room before your room-mates wonder where you are!”

Louise smiled shyly before heading for the stairs.

*Next bit*

Later that morning, after breakfast, the group divided up. Some of the girls wanted to go skiing and left for the black runs fairly early, others decided to go back to snow boarding. A small group joined the two Heads and went to the skating rink to try and get some practice – the tournament was the next day and everyone still wanted to participate. They managed to obtain some equipment and protective gear before venturing onto the ice and spent an hour or two going through some of the basic moves.

Partway through the morning Tom appeared wanting to speak to Miss Annersley and Miss Wilson, they joined him in a nearby bar.

“Jim has passed on some information I thought you should know,” he said, “He was talking to the thin one, the computer geek, and he has let slip about how they picked up on your girl’s identity.”

“Good,” Miss Annersley replied, “I must admit to wondering about that myself!”

“Well it seems to have been boredom on his part,” the Chief Instructor returned, “they had been up in that hut, hiding out, for a week with nothing to do, then when that blizzard hit, both of you were in the local news. He started investigating and, when he came across the School records with such powerful safeguards on them, he felt he had to break them!”

“So the plan was only made within those few days?” Miss Wilson sounded surprised, “considering how close they came to succeeding it was a brilliant plan!”

“Yes, that was the older fellow – a really nasty piece of work – Jim thinks they are all likely to get life sentences, but that both the older man and the one who was attacking you,” he nodded toward the Head, “will have a number of them running consecutively; they are probably going to die in prison. The police have enough information to charge both of them with three counts of murder, possibly more.”

The two women looked at each other, “Louise must not be told they were already killers, Hilda,” Nell Wilson stated.

“Agreed, Nell,” Miss Annersley replied calmly, “Oh, she’ll discover eventually, but not just yet. She needs to recover first.”

Tom stood up to leave, “None of the men have mentioned any of you in the official questioning,” he said, “Jim was able to see the thin one, Alan, for a short time on his own, but otherwise they have been questioned only on the bank job and previous crimes,”

The Heads returned to the ice and rejoined their team; Alison, as Captain, had discussed the best positions for both of the older women. With surprise, Miss Annersley found that she was ideally suited to play on the wing, being light and fast on her skates! Miss Wilson, with far more strength and, as she herself admitted, violence, was placed into defence!

Next bit - one more to go I think!*

The tournament was to be held on their last full day at the resort, the party would be returning to the Real Chalet School the following day. There were 16 teams in total and the tournament was a straight ‘knock-out’, as there was only the one ice rink the matches were played separately. The Real Chalet School team had done well, as most of the girls had played hockey together they had far more of a sense of team work than some of the other teams that had literally never played. It was quickly obvious that their team and one other, was slated for the final match.

The other team consisted of a mixed group of holiday makers from a big company based in Melbourne. In discussion it was found that they were on a ‘team building exercise’, the managing director, speaking with Hilda and Nell made this seem like the only way to encourage team work within an organisation. He seemed rather put out when Miss Annersley enquired why his management did not inspire his team anyway without the need for expensive bribes!

Although not playing as often as some of the girls, both Heads had played in all of the matches - there were a certain number of substitutes allowed for each team and Alison used this rule to ensure that all her players had sufficient game play. After reaching the Final themselves, the team watched the other semi final. One player on the winning side - the company on ‘team building’ - immediately sprang to their attention.

“The captain of the other finalists is extremely clever,” this from Miss Annersley to all the Real Chalet School, “he will provoke opposing team members into a reaction, without being seen by the officials, when the opposing team react they are then sent to the ‘sin bin’ and the team are without their most aggressive people for certain periods. In the last match he deliberately caused the other team’s best forward to lose his temper,”

Alison took over, “everyone be aware of these tactics,” she warned, “especially those of you with hot tempers!” her gaze fell on two or three of the Prefects meaningfully before stopping at Miss Wilson.

The Deputy Head smiled in acknowledgement.

The match got underway with a useful start for the Real CS, scoring three goals in quick succession. The opposing team scored once and mounted a furious onslaught on the RCS goal mouth. Miss Annersley, scorer of one goal, was feeling justifiably proud of her input, especially as the opposing Captain’s attempts to make her get angry had been totally unsuccessful. The defence team were working wonders, with Claire in goal and Carol, Sue and Nell Wilson all performing exceptionally well to keep out the attackers.

Miss Annersley watched though as the opposing Captain’s attempts seemed to be rather more successful on the more hot-headed members of the team. At one point there were three members of the RCS in the ‘sin bin’ all of them for reacting to actions performed by the other captain and not seen by officials. Finally, after resisting extreme provocation aimed at herself personally, Nell Wilson reacted when seeing the opposing captain, in tackling Louise, deliberately slam the girl into the side. The man was suddenly slammed into himself and a knee placed, strategically, into his groin! Miss Wilson was sent to the ‘sin bin’ for 10 minutes, while the man himself had to be helped off the ice to recover. Luckily for him, due to the padding they were all wearing, the injury was not severe, and he was back on the ice within a few minutes, admittedly with a somewhat higher voice!

*Final bit!*

Nell Wilson had been to the nearby bathroom during her 10 minute punishment, in an attempt to cool down and to get a drink. She returned to the ‘sin bin’ with a few minutes still left of her sentence and stopped in astonishment on seeing the other occupant - it was Hilda Annersley!

“Hilda? What are you doing here?” Miss Wilson sat beside her friend,

Miss Annersley, her face as composed as ever, smiled across at her friend, “Hello Nell, have you recovered your temper yet?” She asked softly.

Miss Wilson grinned, “Just about,” she admitted, “And before you start lecturing, he deserved it!”

“Oh I agree!” the reply was unexpected, “But doing something when you lose your temper rarely achieves all that you want. He was back on the ice within a few minutes, and immediately started attacking Louise again - he obviously picked up that we would all react to that!”

Miss Wilson looked out on the ice again, even with two players down the Prefects seemed to be holding the score at 3 - 1, everyone was defending. She looked again, the opposing team captain was nowhere to be seen.

“I thought you said that louse was back on the ice, I can’t see him, where is he?”

“On his way to casualty I expect!” The Head’s reply was delivered in her normal measured tones.

Nell Wilson turned to regard her partner more closely, “Hilda,” she began, “why is he on his way to casualty, and why are you sat in this ’sin bin’? I have a sneaking suspicion that the two are linked somehow.”

Miss Annersley sighed slightly, “He’s on his way to casualty because of a broken nose,” she replied, “and I’m sat in here because I broke it!”

Nell, taking a drink from a cup of water, spluttered all over the floor, “You did what?” she shouted, there were annoyed murmurings from the surrounding crowd and she moderated her tones, “Hilda! But you’ve always said that  losing your temper is not the way to solve problems!”

“I didn’t lose my temper, Nell!” Miss Annersley replied placidly, “I just decided that the only way to stop him was to ensure he had an injury that required hospitalisation. The next time I could get close to him I elbowed him in the face, I must admit I wasn’t sure whether I would break his cheek bone or his nose, but it didn’t matter, either would be sufficient!”

Miss Wilson sat staring at her friend for some minutes, “I-I-I’m speechless Hilda!” she said finally, the hooter for the end of the first half went with the score still at 3 - 1.

The two friends sat in silence for a while, then Nell Wilson spoke once more,

“Hilda, you know that, on our return, you will be Headmistress and I will be Deputy?”

Miss Annersley nodded, “Yes Nell,”

“Well, the fact that both of us are sat here, in the ‘sin bin’ for bad behaviour. And that all 15 Prefects are out there, well aware of what we have done to be sent here. Do you think that might be a problem?”

“You mean do I feel that the rest of the School may get to hear? Yes I had considered that. I‘d also considered that the Prefects are well aware that we would not want them to broadcast the facts.” Miss Annersley replied softly,

“And?”

Miss Annersley smiled slightly, “At the very least I think we may have to raise their allowance, Nell!”
