#1: The CS and Frankie Author: Lisa_TLocation: Belfast PostPosted: Tue Jul 20, 2004 9:11 pm

It was the 31st October, and Miss Annersley was enjoying some rest and appreciating the rare peace and quiet that had descended on the School this October half term. Naturally, nearly all of the girls and mistresses were out on various expeditions, but the Head had cried off this time, and, surprisingly, everyone had agreed easily enough.

Just as she slipped her last letter into an envelope, the big knocker on the front door sounded, and Hilda Annersley's eyebrows went into her hair.
"Whoever can that be?" she wondered aloud. She rather liked talking to herself when she was alone in the house. It was less eerie. Rising to her feet, she made her way out of the Study and into the big hall, now dimly lit and echoey, and went to open the door. At first, she could see no-one in the blackness, and, thinking she was imagining things, she went to close the door.
As the door swung shut, a metal rod prevented it from closing, and, cautiously, the Head opened it again.
Before her stood a dark haired girl of average height who was presently leaning on a crutch. She was wearing a strangely long version of the Chalet School uniform, and the Head felt that the hat that crowned the straight locks had come straight from Hogwarts (Miss Annersley was currently fathoms deep in 'Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban' in her spare hours).
The Head smiled rather faintly.
"Yes?" she asked.
"Are you Miss Annersley?" the girl enquired.
"I am. And you are?"
"Frankie," the girl told her cheerfully- only there was something malevolent in the cheerfulness.
"And what can I do for you?" the Head wanted to know, false heartiness in her tones.
"I'm a new girl!" Frankie said.
"But-" Miss Annersley began, puzzled. She stopped and spoke again. "This is an unusual time to start," she said lightly. "Suppose you come in and we can talk properly. It's too cold and dark out."
"I know. Great, isn't it?" As Frankie entered, Miss Annersley saw with puzzlement that the metal crutch had a collection of twigs at the top end, making it strangely resemble a broomstick. She ushered the girl into the Study and sat down, feeling for the little cupboard that held her illegal vodka.
"First of all," she said, when the clear liquid had been poured into a tea cup, "what is your full name, my dear?"
"Frankie," repeated Frankie. "Frankie N. Stein. But my friends call me RTW."

This is spreeing, but it's an explanation for newbies: the name RTW comes from one of my drabbles, The Chalet School and Tara, which is now in the archives. Work the rest out for yourselves...

Laughing Laughing

(also, it's called a pre-emptive strike.... Wink )

What is a pre-emptive strike for??

Loved it though, is there more?

I have a feeling you'll find out...but I really don't know any more than that! Vikki seems to know something though.
*wondering whether Vikkikins should appear as RLH*

Is this another like Tara then?

*Lesley sits down to wait - refuses to be dressed in a monkey suit this time though!*

Shouldn't think so. Especially since I do have a started sequel to Tara somewhere on my hard drive!!! Treat this as FCS communal if you want- it was suggested by an exchange of pms with Vikki

You will regret this later Lisa - not today cos that would be too easy, but later, when you think I have forgotten . . . .

MWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

LOLOL! Well, since I fully expect to experience something truly horrible, that threat doesn't worry me too much. Unless you plan on ambushing me at SG. 'Sides, it was all Vikki's fault!!! Laughing Laughing

*g* Well, don't worry, Ellie. As far as I'm concerned, unless inspiration (or RTW) hit, that's it!

Oh no you don't Lisa!!! You started it, you have to carry on with it......

#13:  Author: Lisa_TLocation: Belfast PostPosted: Tue Jul 20, 2004 10:37 pm

OK.

Five minutes later, a knock sounded again, and Frankie AKA RTW watched the Head carefully as that lady went to open the door again.

Once more, she looked out at nothing.
"I'm here!" piped up a voice from somewhere at Miss Annersley's feet.
Hilda looked down to see a small girl with brown hair to her waist and an angelic smile that Hilda would learn belied her true nature.
"And you are?" poor Hilda asked, wondering whether all of this was merely a hallucination induced by excessive vodka and mint sauce.
"You don't need to know that," the girl told her briskly. "All you need to know is that I'm Frankie's- I mean, RTW's- Little Helper. The real one," she added evilly. Twisted Evil
"'Cos practically no-one else is littler than me!"
Hilda conked out at this shocking English, and RTW and RLH (aka Vikki, one time Second Pree) sharpened their knives with glee.

Um...now where was I? oh yes. Rachel's Lickle Helper.

Hilda was starting to feel rather worried. Suddenly all these strange personages were arriving at the Chalet School. It wasn't even, she mused as she showed RLH AKA Don't Call Me Victoria AKA Miss Purple Llama into the study, that they hadn't had weird and wonderful personages at the School before. They had. Often. But those other personages did not usually bear potentially violent weapons.

Once Hilda had settled her 'visitors' comfortably, she decided to summon her secretary. Rosalie Dene had disappeared a few years previously in mysterious circumstances. Hilda found herself eyeing Frankie suspiciously. She had a horrible feeling that Frankie RTW had had something to do with that...

As indeed she had. It was called 'A Change for Con'.

The secretary entered, looking very businesslike.
"Ah, Jennie, there you are," the Head said pleasantly, relieved to see someone familiar.
Jennie seated herself and smiled at Hilda, and the Head shivered. She'd always thought Jennie harmless before- a certain edge when she spoke of Mrs Maynard, certainly, but, after all, not everyone could love Joey. Now, however, Hilda felt that the quality of Jennie's smile resembled those on the respective faces of RTW and Vikki to an uncomfortable degree.
Miss Annersley attempted to pull herself together and introduce the two 'new' girls.

Hilda shook herself from her reverie and told herself to pull herself together and never mind the weather...for a split second, she wondered if a waxwork could actually do her job rather well. At least she wouldn't have to deal with demented new girls and sinister secretaries.
Jennie, watching her chief go off in one of her periodic dazes, sighed. RTW hadn't warned her that Hilda Annersley these days tended to go off into dreams that made Con Maynard look the height of alertness. Then again, Jennie mused, it had been quite useful. She'd managed to insinuate a rift between Joey and Hilda by cuttinfg the telephone line linking Freudesheim and the School, and since neither was technologically minded, each had blamed the other for not being in touch and in consequence, an icy politeness had developed. This suited Jennie very well. To Jennie, Mrs Maynard, nee Josephine M. Bettany the well known authoress, was a liability and a menace to public health and safety. Well, to Jennie's health anyway...
But this dazing wasn't helping RTW and RLH. Unseen by the still mentally absent Miss Annersley, Jennie gave the two 'new' girls a furtive grin and mouthed at them.
"Wazzat?" RLH demanded. She was a little incoherent as she tended to get over excited and then failed to carry out RTW Top Secret Instructions. RTW had discovered that her own particular brand of home made Baileys (which RLH/Vikki adored and had once drowned in) fit the bill very nicely, and, as a result, Vikki was very decidedly away with the fairies most of the time. A fact that would have concerned the Head even more had that lady been in any state to notice it.
In fact, glancing from Hilda to Vikki and back again, Jennie was tempted to wonder whether RTW had dosed Miss Annersley with some of her lethal potion. Although how, Jennie could not say. Then again, she had entered herself as Frankenstein or as near as made no matter...
