Thank you Vikki. Here's the next bit.

As these plans were being made and put into practice, three new CBBers joined who knew nothing about the original attack. The were over the moon at finding such a wonderful treasure store of CS stories, and spent as much time as they could in C & D. Paula, Lindsey and Sally were so engrossed in the stories they were reading that they failed to read anything about their danger. And in the threads, the TEM was stirring, gathering its strength for another try. It’s recovery had been slow, for it had been severely debilitated by its bilious attack, but now it could feel that it was ready. Sending out tentative feelers, it could sense that the majority of CBBers were being careful not to sit directly in front of the screen, but that there were three people who were taking no precautions at all. Licking its virtual lips in anticipation, it struck. As before, the victims were sucked into the threads before they knew what was happening. Paula, Lindsey and Sally were lucky in that they were all reading the same drabble, so ended up together, bouncing on the trampolines as others had done before. They were stunned and disorientated for some minutes after the event, but gradually became aware of the presence of the TEM.

Well, it's probably quite a realistic impression, Lesley!! - there's something to be said for jumping in at the deep end!

Cone on, Pat - what happens next?

Huddling together, they tried, without success, to see what they were sensing. Then, behind the original presence, they felt something else. This seemed more massive, but with many more tentacles, though again, they could see nothing but each other. The TEM ‘spoke’ into their minds, as it had done to its first prisoners.
“The first escaped. You have no such option. You will stay here until I am fed properly by those outside. My other part will attack machines as I attack you unless this is done.”
The three prisoners gasped in dismay, wondering how the others escaped, and how they themselves would get away.

Ah this might explain why our PC at home has gone from throwing you out ever 5 minutes to telling you windows is corrupt and missing important bits to load it.

I wonder if i should warn the engineer (if he ever gets round to coming out) about the TEM???

Suddenly there was a great roar behind them, and to their horror, an enormous lion leapt over them to stand in front of the position that they sensed was occupied by the monster. This was followed by running footsteps, and a teenage boy ran past them to stand beside the lion. He was joined by two other teenagers, a girl with a mass of bushy hair, and another lad with bright red hair. All three were wearing strange black robes, and brandishing what looked like – but surely could not possibly be – magic wands!
To their astonishment, the Lion spoke! “Do not fear, daughters of Eve. We have been asked to protect any who are so unfortunate as to find their way here. The monsters before you shall not harm you, that we promise.”
“What’s that thing at the back?” muttered the red haired boy. “It’s not a spider is it? It feels like one!”
“No, son of Adam, it is not a spider. It is a monster that harms machines in the world of men. They both are, and we are here to deal with them, once and for all.”
The four being in front of the CBBers advanced on the monsters. The three humans waved their wands, and chanted some Latin, at which point sparks flew at the monsters. A glow outlined them both, so that for the first time their shape could be seen, and a strange high pitched screech echoed around the board.

Hooray! the protection we invoked earlier is working! Well done, Pat your imagination is running a glorious riot. Love it!

#20:  Author: PatLocation: Doncaster PostPosted: Wed Jan 21, 2004 7:48 pm

“I’m sure that Lion is Aslan,” muttered Sally, “I don’t see who else it could be. He certainly talks like Aslan, but what on earth is he doing in the CBB!”
“I was involved in one of the stories here, Daughter of Eve, and therefore have some sort of existence here. Enough, certainly, to send you back to where you should be.”
Aslan came closer, and Sally, who had read all the Narnia books, wrapped her arms around him and gave him a hug. “Can you really, Aslan? That would be great. Thank you.”
Lindsey and Paula looked on in surprise and awe at Sally’s daring, but then came hesitantly closer, and Lindsey reached out and stroked the wonderfully thick mane.

So Aunty Pat, will there be some more? Please? A few little deaths maybe? Just insignificant ones, nothing major? Go on, you know you want to really!

Aslan allowed the caress and then stepped back slightly. He looked deep into each of their eyes, and then tossed his head. Immediately, with no fuss or pain, they were back in their own homes, none the worse for their adventure. Aslan turned to the battling humans.
They were using the Avada Kedavra spell, with limited success. Normally a killing spell with no known form of defence, the TEM was obviously relatively immune. The spells were hurting it, true, but little more, and the three young wizards were starting to get desperate. They knew of no stronger spell to use, and the TEM was becoming used to the pain. Soon it would strike, and they had nothing more to use against it.

Oooh!! Thank you Aunty Pat!! More soon please!!!!

Aslan looked at their opponents carefully and nodded slightly. “Step aside, children. It is my turn now.” He placed himself squarely n front of the two great monsters, and let out a roar so loud and long that it left the humans ears ringing for long minutes afterwards. It seemed to have done the trick as far as the monster were concerned, for there was a peculiar electronic howl, and a gust of acrid smoke, and the two creatures disappeared. Aslan turned to his friends. “You may return to your own places, now. All is as it should be.”

In the Real World there was great excitement. Not only had three trapped members been released so easily, but Liss had announced that a new site was under investigation. The mods were busy assessing the new site, and everyone was very excited. Finally the announcement appeared on the board that the new CBB was open for business, and there was a rush to register. Within 3 days more than 100 CBBers had come across to the new site. When the old site was closed for good, all knew that the danger was over, and settled in to enjoy the bright new CBB, with all the pretty smileys, new drabbles and no TEM.

THE END

Caught up with this a bit late ... fabulous ending Pat, thanks for the thrills and spills!

Just as well Angel (was it her?) did a Narnia cross-over drabble and we had Aslan to leap in and save the day!
Otherwise, where would we be now?!

Thank you for rescueing us Pat, yes I know I'm late, but I guess the TEM had one final trick in store when he destroyed the monitor, and with the new board as well, it's just taken so long to catch up.
This was well worth waiting for though, and I am so glad the TEM has been comprehensively destroyed.
