A Chalet School Musical
Based on "The Real Chalet School" by Lesley

Narrator: The scene starts in Miss Annersley’s office on a normal school day at the Chalet School

"Will that be all, Miss Annersley?" Miss Dene, School Secretary glanced warmly over at the Headmistress.

"I think so, Rosalie, get those letters for prospective pupils typed up and I'll sign them - they can be posted today. Oh and I'd like a transcript of the recent interviews for new mistress - better do two copies - Nell is sure to want one when she returns from Interlaken." The Head smiled at her secretary, her blue-grey eyes that had never yet needed glasses, soft and warm.

Rosalie nodded and left the study.

Back in her office, Rosalie was working through some of the Head's correspondence, she swiftly typed out a number of letters and was halfway through the transcripts when she noticed that the old woman had moved on to annoy someone else.

"Thank goodness for that!" she said thankfully.
She flicked a switch on the phone and placed it to her head, after a moment a call was put through,

"Yes this is Sinetta, your sultry handmaiden," Rosalie's voice had deepened in tone, "What is your wish, Master!"

There are Worse Things I Could Do

Sung By Rosalie at the departed Old Woman

There are worse things I could do,
than receive a dodgy call or two
Even though the Real World would think
I'm trashy and no good I suppose it could be true,
but there are worse things I could do
I could flirt with all the guys, smile at them and bat my eyes.
Press against them when we dance,
make them think they stand a chance
bring the School into disrepute,
that's the thing I'd never do.

I can stay home every night
Wait around for Mr. Right, take cold showers everyday,
and throw my life away, on a dream that won't come true
You’ll never let me leave the school, have a small plot line or two
no nice doctor’s come my way, out of spite or jealousy?,
I won't scream and I won't lie, but I can feel and I cry
In fact I'll bet you never knew, but to cry in front of you,
that's the worse thing I could do.

No that I’ll never do, I’ll never cry in front of you.

"I am wearing a black, skin-tight cat suit, Master, it has velvet fastenings and a..." Rosalie broke off, seeing Joey.

"How many times has Jack called you this week?" giggled Joey,

"Only twice this week," smiled Rosalie, "I'm currently entertaining Jem Russell - he's getting sick and tired of living out on the spine of the book!"

The Head of St Mildred's settled herself on the big window seat, waiting while the Head finished a letter. As a maid arrived with a tray Miss Annersley turned to her friend, "what can I do for you Nell?"

"It's the St Mildred's pantomime," Miss Wilson replied, "We may need some help from some of your pupils again!"

The door closed behind the maid - actually EBD in one of her less realistic disguises - and both women relaxed visibly.

Not What They Seem
Sung by Narraotor

People don't always say what they mean
And things are not always what they seem
You'd better know before you make a scene
That things are not always what they seem.

Friend or foe
How do you know?
Let their actions speak
Better, worse
Trap some verse
Soon enough you'll see

People don't always say what they mean
And things are not always what they seem
You'd better know before you make a scene
That things are not always what they seem.

Rumors come
And rumors go
Till you get some proof
Don't believe
What you hear
Try to find the truth

People don't always say what they mean
And things are not always what they seem
You'd better know before you make a scene
That things are not always what they seem.

Not what they seem!

"Well I've been speaking to Madge Russell, you know how long she's been kept to the outskirts of the story, not had a decent plot since Tyrol, she's decided to go it alone. And as EBD has shunted her off to Australia she thought she'd set up there,"

"That's rather a big undertaking," Hilda's soft voice put in,

"She's got in contact with one of those fans - you know - the CBBers, weird name - KB - but knows all there is to know about the CS! She's helping set up the school.

Yesterday Once More
Sung by Madge

When I was young
I started a small Chalet School
Waitin' for my doctor to come
When it grew I worked so hard
It made me smile

Those were such happy times
And not so long ago
How I wondered where they'd gone
But they're back again
Just like a long lost friend
All those people I knew so well

(*) Every “Miss Bettany”
Every fine for slang
Still shines
Every shing-a-ling-a-ling
That they're starting to sing's
So fine

When I get to the part
Where EBD pulls me apart
It can really make me cry
Just like before
It's yesterday once more

Lookin' back on how it was
In years gone by
And the bad times that I had
Makes me want to shout with joy
So much has changed

Just a doctors wife that
I could be back then
And I hated every day
Those old memories
They kept me sane you see
Now I melt the years away

All my best memories
Come back clearly to me
Some can even make me cry
Just like before
It's yesterday once more

Brilliant, Kathye!

Question: if we start chanting, will it interfere with the proper songs?

*carefully sings "More please!" to fit in with orchestral interlude*

As I said yesterday, this is wonderful so clever and yet so faithful to the original! I love the way you manage to find such appropriate songs and change the lyrics to tell the story.

Am still singing! Fantastic!

Sends huggles, ice-cold water and lavender essential oil for Kathye.

BTW, did you know that if burns are treated with Lavender Essential oil, they don't scar? And the burn heals and stops hurting a lot faster.

Have sacrificed a Aloe Vera leaf/prong ! (what are they called on a Aloe plant Confused !)

To the cause as they always work very well on burns, scars of any sort, did great things for my stretch marks ! Rolling Eyes

Great, I believe that works just as well. I'm just a big fan of aromatherapy. Mind you, I nearly died of shock when I went to buy some Neroli and was told, very kindly, that it costs nearly 200 GBP for 20 ml.

Wonder of wonders, the technical term for those things is ... leaves! One can add adjectives, e.g. "succulent leaves," or "xerophytic leaves," but plain "leaves" is just fine.

Hope you heal quickly-

Kathy, wishing she knew the tunes to Kathye's songs

I always use lavender oil on burns! Discovered it by accident when I scalded my hand badly at work with hot soup, and the pain was driving me frantic! It was the only thing that helped!

The first one is from "Grease" film or Musical, the 2nd one is slightly obscure and you probably won't know it, the third is one of the "Carpenters" biggest hits. I have left the titles as they are. Wink

Feels very small about the leaves, but Kathye, you really must not put that hand into dishwater for at least another month. Any excuse to get out of doing the dishes.

Kathye, PLEASE tell me that you taped Liss's commentary?????? Wink

#34:  Author: Lisa_TLocation: Belfast PostPosted: Mon May 17, 2004 6:30 pm

Commentary?! *mind boggles* Is Liss planning ojn taking over from Terry Wogan then? And did she perform in her usual dramatic style? Wink

#35:  Author: KathyeLocation: Laleham PostPosted: Mon May 17, 2004 11:08 pm

I think Liss had a direct link to Terry, every time she made a comment, Terry would make the same one 30 seconds later Shocked

It was really quite spooky !! Wink

And no sorry didnt tape it, you don't tend to know in advance when she is going to make video worthy preformances, could make a fortune if I did Twisted Evil Her attempt to become a stork, and failing to stand on one leg for more than 10 seconds at a time, would have definitely been worth £250........................ sorry Liss Embarassed

The musical, or Liss attempting to become a stalk?

And Kathye, do you mean stalk or stork? Because I read it and thought you'd misspelt stork, but they both kinda work...

If you DON'T mean stork, can we try and get Liss to try and become one next time? Maybe at the Cheer Vikki Up party?!? Wink

#38:  Author: KathyeLocation: Laleham PostPosted: Fri Jun 04, 2004 9:10 pm

I did mean a stork Embarassed SORRY, have ammended very bad spelling Embarassed

Will hopefully get more sorted soon, Real Life has been a little manic recentlt to say the least.....

*grin*
Somehow, I think that if she did that, she wouldn't be standing for long............

She couldnt manage the standing on one leg, without the dramatic gestures, I think it might become a health and safety issue if we gave her something to read Wink
