This is a bit rude, so apologies in advance!!!

Santa was having a bad day. A very bad day! In fact it was the worst he could remember having in many, many years. Mrs Santa had burnt a batch of mince pies, but she insisted that they had to be eaten, which meant that HE had to eat them, for she would never serve them up to guests. The elves were running badly behind in the toy factory and he had very real fears that he would not have enough ready by the next night. They were working flat out of course, but the worry was there.
This morning the reindeer groom had come to see him, very apologetic. It seemed that Rudolf had a cold. Now most people’s noses go red when they get a cold, so you would think that there would be no problem. Rudolph’s would just get redder. But no! Rudolph had to be different in everything, and his nose faded to the normal reindeer colour, so he would be no use for lighting the way.
Santa had stomped off to check on his uniform. He didn’t wear it all the time of course. Only when he made his deliveries. So his fury was understandable when he found that not only had he spilt something unmentionable down the front the previous year (not everyone leaves a normal offering, and sometimes he had been hard put to identify the beverage that had been left), but to add insult to injury, the moths had got at it! Pure wool, and covered in the tiny tell-tale holes. It would have to do as it was, for there was no time to clean it now, or to replace it. Santa isn’t really magic, you understand. He just seems like it to humans.
He was still muttering and grumbling about all the things that had gone wrong when there was a knock on the front door. He walked down the hall with a frown on his face and opened the door. Standing on the step was a fairy. A pretty little thing, it was impossible to tell it’s gender - it always is with fairies. It was lugging an enormous Christmas tree, already beautifully decorated.
“Please Santa,” it said. “What to you want to do with this?”
And that’s how fairies came to decorate the tops of Christmas trees.

ROFL ROFL

I've always wondered why the fairy...and now I know.

I've sent the link to some of my "Scrooge" friends, who I know will enjoy it. And it's a proof that we don't just talk about kids-books all the time ROFL ROFL

My mother gave me the Christmas tree fairy that I got when I was about 3 and sat on top of their tree all my childhood. Jessica (who had constituted herself in charge of tree decorations) took one look and went yeuch Sad . Admittedly the fairy is a little past her best (I've just realised she's into middle age Shocked , so it's not surprising)
