I know, I know, it's been ages since I updated it. Don't kill me. For those who haven't read the first part, here it is (the updated version).

Part 1:
New Arrangements

Felicity Maynard stepped up onto the dais, and surveyed her school with eyes that sparkled. She couldn't wait to see what the school thought of the new arrangements.
Felecity Maynard had been made joint-headmistress of the Chalet School two years before, when the former head Hilda Annersley had given up teaching full time. She had at the time been the head English teacher.
"Good afternoon school. Can you all hear me?"
A low murmer of assent assured her that they all could.
"You will all probably be wondering why I have summoned you here just now, so I will waste no time in telling you. There are some cirriculum changes taking place outside of this school which will affect all of you.
"Among other things, you will be learning some new subjects, things that not a lot of people have had an opportunity to do in the past, but hopefully have a chance to do now."
At this, Felicity stopped. She surveyed the girls standing below her. Hopefully this new cirriculum would open wider job opportunities than Madame, Mademoiselle and Miss Annersley would have thought possible.
" When you go upstairs to your form rooms, your form mistresses will hand out timetables and tell you more about this."
After that, she switched to other topics, and finally dismissed the girls.
Liz Entwistle, the daughter of Felicity's eldest sister Len and a shining light of Upper IVB, looked at her own clan, which consisted of her twin sister Lucy, Eilidh Williams, Annie O'Leary, Fiona Douglas and her cousin Stella Bryant.
"I forsee that we're going to have quite an interesting term!"
And the others couldn't help agreeing with her.

Part 2
The New Timetable
Most people looking at Maria Greenfield would describe her as a short, skinny woman. However, she and the people close to her knew that she was suffering from an illness. It stunted her growth and no matter how much she ate, she was unable to put any weight on.
The doctors had told her that it was a rare illness, impossible to tell whether the patient would live or die. Although it was not tuberculosis, the mountain air was thought to be a help, so Maria had moved out to Switzerland. Never one to sit about she had applied for a job teaching History at the Chalet School and had got it.
She had been Upper IVB’s form mistress since the term after she joined and was very popular with the girls, although she had a peppery temper and was known to rule with a rod of iron when aroused. Most of the time, however, she used her sarcasm, which was almost as bad as ‘Bill’s’.
Therefore it was not a surprise when she entered the form room and saw Liz standing on top of her desk, proclaiming that it was going to be ‘a simply golloptious’ term (a phrase that she had borrowed from her Aunt Jo), all she said was “and I suppose if you are up on that desk you don’t want to find out about your new timetable, will you?”
Poor Liz jumped a mile and fell off the desk, banging her head against it. She was instantly surrounded by her friends, asking if she was hurt. She brushed it off in her own usual way, though, springing to her feet like it was nothing.
“Sorry about that, Miss Greenfield. I didn’t realise that you were there.”
“Well in future kindly remember that in your form you are liable to be walked in upon any moment. Now, can everyone get into their seats?” Inwardly Miss Greenfield smiled, it was funny how opposite Liz was from Len. Lucy was the responsible one, although she was the younger.
The form quickly went to their seats.
“Alright, you know that you will be taking new subjects this term, don’t you? In a few moments I’ll hand out your timetables but first of all I’ll explain about them.
“Basically, you take lessons five days a week. The first lesson will start at 09.05 and the last will finish at 15.45. Some of these subjects are new so I’ll explain what they are after. The different lesson times are called periods.
She handed out a blue jotter to every girl.
“The classes in each year are going to be reorganized, so we will not have the people that know more in a different class. In each year there will be four groups. So for example, in the Fourth instead of having Lower IVA and B and Upper IVA and B we will have 4A, 4B, 4C and 4D. The forms will be grouped randomly.
“So, imagine that you people were in 4D. You would come to me in the morning for registration. However, in your other classes you will be ‘streamed’- set into groups according to your knowledge of the subjects. You might be in the top stream for Geography, for example, but the bottom stream for Maths. There will be four classes for that, 4i, ii, iii and iv.
“However, there are two different types of subjects. There will also be the practical subjects. For these, other than in Science the year will be split in two, 41 and 2.
“What I’m saying is that you won’t all have the same timetable. For practical subjects you have been randomly divided into groups. You may look at your timetable now.”
Liz looked at hers. It looked like this-

Monday Tuesday Wednesday Thursday Friday
P. 1 RE French Music German CDT
P. 2 Maths English Art Maths Science
Break B R E A K
P. 3 History Science Maths French Maths
P. 4 English History Home Ec. RE Italian/Spanish
Lunch L U N C H
P. 5 PSE Art History ICT PE
P. 6 Science PE German Music History

On the front of the jotter it said Liz Entwistle, 4D2. On the inside there was a page with a table. In one column was a list of subjects, in another a list of teachers, the next one the room numbers and in the last a space for the classes she would be streamed into.
“This is your Prep. Diary,” Miss Greenfield told them. “You will keep a track of your preparation in here. Has anyone got any questions?”
She was greeted by a show of hands. Lets see… Karen?”
Karen, a tall dark girl, said “What is ICT, CDT, Home Ec. RE, PE and PSE?”
“Good question, Karen. Home Ec is Domestic Science and RE is Religious Education. PSE is a time where you will all meet with me and we will discuss things like how to prevent accidents, that kind of thing. It stands for Personal and Social Education. PE is another name for PT. RE is Religious Education where you will learn about other religions as well as your own. CDT is Craft, Design and Technology. Your brothers will have did it at their schools- woodwork etc. And ICT is learning about computers. Any other questions?”
Lucy was the only one left with a question. “How come we don’t have Geography?”
“Well, in that department you will take three subjects, History, Geography and Modern Studies. Modern Studies is basically about the changing world, politics, that kind of thing. You’ll have them in a rotating three week block- one week you will have four periods of History, the next week Geography, ect.”
At that moment Matey stuck her head around the door. “I’m sorry to interrupt you, Miss Greenfield, but there’s a new girl here. Are you able to take her?”
“Yes, I suppose that the others will explain the new timetable to her later. Is it Melanie?”
As if to answer, the girl strolled into the room. “Hiya, miss. I’m Mel. Cool place here, innit?”
Hidden from the girls behind the door Matey shrugged her shoulders at Miss Greenfield and mouthed “bit of a handful” to her.
The girls in the form just stared at Melanie. She looked familiar, but where had they seen her before?

Oh, looking good, Amy! Smile

Well, there are a few things that Melanie's going to have to learn pretty quickly, aren't there?

Gosh that's going to be a change for the girls isn't it? All those new subjects and terminologies. Wonder if they'll all be happy about the streaming?

Mel looks as if she is going to be an interesting character.

Vey glad that you got to the second instalment Amy, all the changes look interesting, as does the new girl.
Now looking forward to the third part.
