CS & Fleur 2
The CBB -> Cookies & Drabbles

Here's abit which I'm going to call "Drunken Fleur!"

The evening started off well, Fleur despite drinking a bit too much did look out for her friends. With a Pina Colada in one hand and a vodka and coke in the other she skilfully manoeuvred her friends around the party ensuring that they did not wander off and get into trouble. Nikolai was never far away from Fleur and when she socialised with her guests he would talk to the chalet schoolgirls. Nikolai when he wanted to could be very charismatic and the chalet girls saw this side to him that night and liked him all the more for it. Holly and Daisy also talked to them for a bit too, but Chloe avoided them she knew she should try and be nice to Ailie but she also knew that because of her jealousies she could not trust herself to be.
As the evening drew on though it became inevitable that Fleur in her slightly more than tipsy state would loose track of her friends. She did not really mind if she lost Judy and Janice, she was not worried about them, but she did want for there to be someone looking out for Ailie at all times.
Fleur feeling rather light headed decided to go and sit down in her Father’s study, where no one else was. She had been there for only a few minutes when Paul came in and sat beside her.
“Hey,” Fleur said excitedly, she had been getting bored sitting there by her-self and was glad of the company.
“Hey Fleur.” Paul replied laughing.
“Why are you laughing at me Paul?” Fleur asked feeling confused, “Why?”
“Because your drunk.” He answered knowing this would provoke her.
“I am not drunk Paul, I’m not! I sol…I solemn…What’s the word? Solemnly, Yes I solemnly swear Paul that…that I’m not drunk.” Fleur began to laugh, “Oh alright Paul you win, I suppose I am.” She stood up and began to walk around the room. “Yes I am, look I’m taking baby steps and I only take baby steps when I’ve had too much to drink.” She sat down next to her twin again and seeing him frown asked, “What’s wrong?”
“Nothing Fleur, nothing is the matter.” Paul told her.
“No Paul something is, you must tell me I’m your twin. We’re supposed to tell each other everything.” Fleur said rather quickly with her eyes wide open.
“And you tell me everything?”
“Well no I suppose I don’t but that’s different. Now tell me what’s wrong? Please do!”
Paul guessing that Fleur would not leave him alone until she found out decided to tell her, “It’s Judy. She’s really great and I like her but all night you’ve kept her away from me. Why have you done that?”
“I haven’t,” Fleur said screwing up her face, “I don’t mind if you go out with Judy. I’ve been keeping Ailie away from Christian.”
“Your ok with me liking Judy?” Paul asked incredulously, he had expected Fleur to react differently.
“Yes,” Fleur said taking a swig of her drink, “You are nice, and will treat Judy well. You won’t F-
her around like Christian does to my friends.”
“Why then do you like Christian better than me?” Paul asked thinking that Fleur would be more honest drunk than when sober.
“Oh I like you both the same.” She exclaimed, “I didn’t mean for you to feel that I liked him more than you.” She hugged Paul, “It’s just that sometimes you annoy me and I suppose that is why you think I like Christian better.”
“Why do I annoy you?”
“Because you try and act like my older brother rather than my twin. You think that I shouldn’t do things and tell me so, you want to protect me I guess. Like the other night when you didn’t want Nikolai to stay in my room you said so, while Christian wasn’t happy either but he didn’t say anything. You’re my twin and are supposed to stick up for me and stand by me, but it’s like you and Christian have switched positions and that he’s my twin and you’re my elder brother.” Fleur downed the rest of her drink, waiting for Paul’s response.
“I think I understand,” Paul said slowly, “I’m sorry I’ve acted like that Fleur, I want us to be like the triplets, they all get along so well. Do you think we can be like them?”
“Yes!” Fleur said jovially, “I’m sure we can if we work hard enough!”
Paul stood up and moved towards the door, “Where are you going?” Fleur demanded.
“To find Judy.”
“Oh!” Fleur smiled, “Good luck, if you see Nikolai then tell him I’m here will you.”
Fleur smiling to herself went and topped her drink up. She was standing in front of the drinks cabinet with her back to the door when it opened, “Honey,” She said, “Me and Paul have just put aside all our differences and are going to be twins like the triplets isn’t it great!”
“Umm, Fleur it’s me Dylan not Nikolai. How are you going to twins like the triplets anyway, there’s three of us and only two of you.”
“Oh Hi Dylan!” Fleur said turning round, “Do you want a drink? We’re going to be twins like the triplets in the sense that you, Holly and Chloe are all so close! Do you see what I mean?”
“Err yeah.” Dylan said slowly, thinking to himself that Fleur was acting rather stranger than usual.
“Have you come to talk to me about Jan?” Fleur asked handing him a drink, which was more vodka than coke.
“Yeah… How did you know?” Dylan said taking a sip of his drink before making a face and exclaiming, “Fleur how much vodka did you put in here? It’s lethal!”
“I’m not very good at proportions sorry.” Fleur apologised, “Put some more mixer in it, there’s coke on the side there.” Dylan moved over to the drinks cabinet, “So what do you want to know about Janice then?” She asked.
“Well…” Dylan despite being very good looking could be very shy.
“Yes.” Fleur prompted him.
“Well do you think that I’d have a chance with her?” Dylan said at last.
“Of course you do Dylan!” Fleur beamed at him, “She‘s been completely different since she’s met you, daydreaming more than usual.”
Nikolai walked into the room at this point, “Alright Dylan,” He said to his mate, “Is this one being a pain.” He asked him as he put his arms around Fleur.
“Hey!” Fleur exclaimed indignantly, “Dylan and I were having a private conversation!”
“No she’s not annoying me!” Dylan said smiling at Nikolai.
“Just thought I’d better check.” Nikolai said half seriously, “I know what she can be like!”
Dylan smiled back and then quickly said, “I don’t suppose you’ve seen where Janice is have you?”
“She’s in the lounge talking to Ailie.” Nikolai told Dylan who did not even stay in the room to hear the entire message. Nikolai pulled Fleur on to the sofa.
“Do you know what?” She said snuggling close to him.
“What?” Nikolai said helping himself to the drink Dylan had left behind.
“I’m great at match making, tonight I’ve sorted both Paul and Dylan out. Without me they would have got no where.”
“Who are you going to match make next then?” Nikolai asked laughing.
“Oh I don’t know, I’ll just wait and see what happens next first. At the moment I’m quite happy sitting here with you.”

Thanks Caxz, so far it seems like a typical party, but I still suspect that something bad is about to happen, or is it just that I have a nasty suspicious mind?

The last section about new year...

Ailie had found herself on her own once again. Judy and Janice had both gone off with Paul and Dylan respectively. Ailie feeling rather downcast went to sit at the bottom of the second flight of stairs. It was not fair, she thought to her-self, why was she the only one who wasn’t paired off with some guy. She was just as pretty as Janice and Judy, and she acted just the same as them as well. None of them were as confident as Fleur but none could have been described as quiet and retiring. Ailie’s encounter with Fleur’s way of life had made her want to live like that too, she wanted to experience the same things as normal teenagers, she wanted to go out and have fun and drink too much and meet boys. Ailie knew though that if her parents heard even the slightest rumour of where she had been with Fleur or what she had done then they would forbid her from visiting her again.
Ailie had been sitting there feeling sorry for herself for around ten minutes when Christian going upstairs found her.
“What are you doing up here?” He asked her in surprise as he sat down next to her.
“I dunno.” Ailie shrugged.
“Are you feeling lonely downstairs? Fleur’s in Dad’s study with Nikolai, helping herself to the drinks cabinet, do you want to talk to her? I’m sure she’ll come and speak to you if you want her to.” Christian was genuinely concerned.
“No I’m fine honestly,” Ailie told him, “I just wanted some peace and quiet.”
“Do you mind if I sit with you for a bit then?”
“No not at all.”
“Are you sure you’re having a good time?” Christian persisted.
“Yes,” Ailie said firmly before moaning, “Well no not really.” Like Fleur Ailie had had a bit too much to drink and so was inclined to be truthful.
“Why?” Christian asked quietly.
“Well it’s Judy and Janice, both of them have gone off and left me on my own. I know I should be glad for them but I just can’t.” The words stumbled quickly out of Ailie’s mouth.
“So you’re feeling sorry for yourself because you haven’t got a dashing young man to sweep you off your feet.” Christian said raising his eyebrows and smiling at Ailie, he liked the fact that she was being honest.
“That makes me sound awful, but yes I suppose it is the truth.”
“Well you do realise that if I had the chance then I would sweep you off your feet, don’t you?”
Ailie shrugged she was attracted to Christian but Fleur’s words of the day before had put her on guard. Christian suddenly took hold of her arms and pulled her to her feet. Ailie wondering if he was going to kiss her found that she did not mind if he did. So when Christian said “Come on do you hear the bell’s it’s New Year! We have to sing Auld Lang Syne!” she found herself to be quite disappointed.
“But I don’t know the words.” She said in bewilderment.
“Neither do I.” Christian laughed, “We’ll just have to make them up.”

It looks a bit like it, or maybe he just realises that Ailie isn't the sort of girl that he normally messes around.

Thank-you all for being so patient Laughing
Here is some more, this bit is beginning to annoy me so in it'll be back in school in a few posts time and then the end will be in sight! Then I'll probably won't want to let go. Oh well here's the drabble!

Fleur was lying on her bed, doing some of her holiday work. Ailie, Janice and Judy had left a few days ago, Judy was staying with Janice for a few days until she could be picked up to go home. Fleur planned to go and meet up with her friends in Cardiff in a few days time. With a record playing loudly Fleur did not hear Christian open her door and was surprised to see him sit down on her chair and turn down her music.
“What do you want?” Fleur asked impatiently, she had been trying to work all day but kept on being interrupted.
“Dad told me to turn your music down, Dominique is trying to get Sasha to sleep.”
“Oh, I’d forgotten about Sash!” Fleur said frowning slightly she adored her baby sister and stepmother and did not like to think she had been a hassle towards them.
“Fleur, I do want to talk to talk to you about something though.” Christian said after a few moments.
“What about?” Fleur asked cautiously, Christian had been in a funny mood for the last few days.
“What did you tell Ailie about me?”
Fleur groaned, “I told her the truth.” Was all she said.
“About me and Chloe?”
“Yeah… I told her about your reputation to. Why?”
“I just wondered.” Christian shrugged. “I wish you hadn’t said that though Fleur.”
“Why shouldn’t I have?” Fleur demanded.
“Oh don’t get mad Fleur, I know you were trying to protect Ailie but supposing she doesn’t need your protection.”
“What do you mean?” Fleur said sharply.
“I mean what if I’ve changed?”
Fleur laughed, “Christian you’ll never change!”
“No Fleur don’t laugh.” Christian said getting annoyed, “I honestly think she’s made me change from my… well from my to quote you male slut ways.”
“That’s not possible.” Fleur said quietly.
“Why isn’t it?” Didn’t Nikolai change for you?”
“That was different…”
“How? Do you think that Nikolai is the only person capable of changing his spots? Or do you think that it’s only you that people can change for?” Christian was being earnest Fleur could tell.
“No it’s not that.” Fleur said, “It’s just well it’s just a bit of a shock I suppose. I didn’t think it could happen.”
“Well I’m sorry to disappoint you but it has.” Christian’s tone was biting he was annoyed that his sister could not see that he had changed. “Ailie has been the only girl who I’ve thought of since my birthday, she’s so sweet but not in a sickly way. On New Years she was telling me all about how her, Janice and Judy had raided the lost property cupboard when they were juniors. You know I wouldn’t usually listen to things like that but whatever comes out of her mouth I find fascinating.”
Fleur knew her brother would never lie to her but she still did not know what she could do to solve his problem.
“How does Ailie feel about you?” Fleur asked at last.
“I don’t know,” Christian said, “She seemed to like me talking to her, what do you think?”
“You’re going to have to talk to her and tell her what you said to me.” Fleur said thoughtfully.
Christian nodded and thanked Fleur for her help before leaving the room and going to band practice.
Fleur had been working solidly for two hours when her Father shouted to her that there was someone on the phone for her.
“Hello.” Fleur said wondering if it was Holly.
“Hi Fleur, it’s me Ailie.” Ailie’s voice sounded very far away.
“Hey, where are you? You sound all fuzzy.”
“Oh I’m calling from the phonebox in the village, you see Mummy and Daddy are going away for the night next week with Sybs and the baby and the twins. They said I can stay at Round House with Janice and Judy, I was wondering if you wanted to come and stay too?”
“Yeah sure,” Fleur said wondering what Ailie had done to persuade her parents to let her stay alone, “What about your servants though?”
“It’s one of their birthdays so they’ve been given the week off.”
“Oh.”
“Um do you think any of the others will want to come up to?”
Fleur thinking of her conversation with Christian said, “Yeah if you’re sure you want them.”
“Well I don’t want all of them. Only the ones I know, it would make us feel safer if some of the boys will be there with us.”
“Ok,”
“Oh Fleur,” Ailie said quickly, “my money is running out I’ll speak to you soon yeah.”
“Yeah sure,” Fleur said before the line went dead.

I do like the way that, though the two parts of Fleur's life are so different, she can bridge between them. I think she has (so far, cross fingers, touch wood) been very good for Janice Ailie and Judy - likewise in reverse.

*wonders if there is anything significant in Ailie calling from the phone box, rather than from home?*

Looking forward to finding out.

I hope Christian really has changed though...

*Agrees there is definitely something suspect about Ailie's gathering*

#35:  Author: CazxLocation: Swansea/Bristol PostPosted: Wed Feb 25, 2004 7:31 pm

I'm not sure about the beginning of this...

“Lord Fleur,” Christian said to his sister as he got out of the car, “You didn’t tell me Ailie’s house was so grand.”
Fleur taking of the helmet she had been wearing while on Nikolai’s bike turned round and looking up at the big house with double bay windows she said, “I didn’t realise it was but then again I should have realised, after all her Father has been Knighted.”
Fleur had enlisted her brothers, Nikolai, Holly, Dylan and Daisy to come to Round House with her. Chloe was working the next day, which Fleur was thankful for. The front door of the house suddenly flung open and Ailie came out to great her guests.
“Hi!” She said excitedly, “Come in, it’s freezing out here.”
Fleur and her friends followed her into the house, where they found that Janice and Judy had already arrived.
It was after dinner when they were all wondering what they should do that Fleur came up with an idea.
“I know,” She suddenly exclaimed after countless other suggestions had been rejected, “Let’s play sardines!”
“Oh I haven’t played that in so long!” Holly cried excitedly, “We used to play it all the time when we were kids.”
“Sardines?” Nikolai said disdainfully, “Why don’t we play hide and seek next?”
“Oh shut up Nikolai!” Fleur said good naturedly, “Right we go and hide in alphabetical order. So Ailie you go first, then Christian goes next, then Daisy and so on.”
Ailie shut the door behind her and crossed the hall, she carefully opened the door to her Father’s study, then carefully shut it. She moved over to the big bay window and curled up on the window seat, being careful not to make a bulge in the curtain. She had been sitting there for five minutes before someone came in, whoever it was scanned the room only quickly before leaving again. It was not long before the door opened again and this time Ailie was found.
“Is there enough room for me to sit there too?” The voice of Christian asked in the dark.
“Yes,” Ailie said shakily.
“You know it was awfully nice of your parents to let us all come here without meeting us.” Fleur had given Christian the impression that Ailie’s parents were stuck in the attitudes from thirty years ago, which was quite right.
“Oh well they don’t know you see.” Ailie said eagerly wanting to demonstrate her rebellious streak, “they only think that Fleur, Judy and Jan are staying here. They’d have a fit if they knew there were boys staying here to.”
“What if they find out?” Christian asked smiling at Ailie’s animated face, “Won’t you be in trouble?”
“Probably, Dad will rage about me being disrespectful and deceitful, and Mum will moan because none of her daughters are sweet and gentle. But they won’t find out, they’re not coming back till tomorrow night.”
“Ailie,” Christian said urgently realising that he might not have much longer before someone found them, “I have to tell you something.”
“What?” Ailie asked slowly.
“I really like you, more than any person I’ve ever met before.”
Ailie laughed, “Christian Fleur’s told me all about you! I know what your like.” Ailie did like Christian but she wanted to protect her-self from getting hurt.
“No Ailie you don’t understand,” Christian told her desperately, he admired her more than ever now for standing up to him. “You are completely different to all the other girls I’ve met, they all give in to me straight away. They do whatever I say, they agree with me all the time, none of them have an original thought in their head when around me. I’m ashamed to say that I push them to see how far I can go before they confront me and say they don’t agree with me or don’t want to do what I want. None of the girls I’ve known have ever confronted me like that but I know you would. You have a stronger character and can think of yourself unlike them. I finished with Chloe because she agreed with me all the time and wanted to spend all her free time with me. You wouldn’t change for me or be afraid to disagree with me, that’s what I admire and like so much about you.”
Ailie found that she understood what Christian was saying.
“Do you believe me?” Christian asked her anxiously reaching out for her hand, “Do you trust me?”
The door burst open and the pair moved startled by the noise, Ailie met Christians eyes and mouthed the word “Yes”, before Fleur and Nikolai flung the curtains back happy to be the second persons to find Ailie.
The night progressed with more games, each one getting wilder with the more alcohol consumed. Christian had reassured Ailie about the consumption of her Father’s drinks cabinet by saying he would never know if they were filled up with water. None of them woke up until late the next morning. Fleur opening the curtains in the main room had groaned when she saw just how much they would have to clean up. She looked out of the window, down the long drive, which led down to the road. She frowned suddenly as she noticed someone making their way up the drive. She rushed into the kitchen where Ailie and Christian were laughingly making breakfast.
“Ailie, there’s someone coming up the drive.” Fleur said quickly, she only realised too well what the consequences would be for Ailie if it was found out that she had even a Semi-house party.
“What do they look like?” Ailie asked anxiously.
“She’s about I don’t know five or six years older than us I’d say, with curly golden brown hair, and a sharp inquisitive expression on her face.”
Ailie groaned. “What’s wrong?” Christian asked in concern.
Ailie looked up, “It’s our one and only Mary-Lou!” She told him with a look of disgust on her face.

Has anyone EVER managed to get away with this trick?? Surely it would only work if parents only kept a drinks cabinet for show and didn't actually drink the stuff!! *knows full well it wouldn't work with own parents, and they'd be more annoyed with me watering down the alcohol!

OOAOML probably just demanded to be included. I'm sure it wasn't Cazx's fault.

I have this feeling that OOAOML would be one of those annoying people who have a high natural alcohol tolerance, either that or she'd fall over comatose within a few sips.

OOAO will probably think that it is her duty to tell Madge and Jem what has been going on.

Perhaps someone ought to remind her that she left the CS years ago.

Sarah L I was really tempted to steal your idea and for Nikolai and co to get Mary-Lou drunk but I thought that even they wouldn't be drinking at 10:30 in the morning. Laughing
Here is what happened when Mary-Lou met Fleur etc though!

Janice and Dylan were walking across the fields towards Round House hand in hand. They had been out for an early morning stroll, leaving the house when all the others had been fast asleep. As they walked out into the drive they came face to face with Mary-Lou.
“Janice Chester!” She exclaimed looking at Janice and Dylan’s couplely manner, “What on earth do you think your doing?”
“Oh hello Mary-Lou.” Janice replied startled, not quite knowing what to say. Seeing Mary-Lou looking at Dylan she added, “Dylan this is Mary-Lou, Mary-Lou this is Dylan, my boyfriend.” She added as an afterthought.
“Your boyfriend!” Mary-Lou spluttered, “Why your much to young to have one of those. What on earth your Mother and sisters think I don’t know.”
“Oh I’ve only told Bethy,” Janice said serenely she knew how tiresome Mary-Lou could be and that the quickest way to get rid of her was to tell her what she wanted to know. “She just sighed and said that I was making her feel old.”
Mary-Lou shock her head disapprovingly, her eyes travelled up to the front of the house where she saw Christians car and Nikolai’s motorbike.
“Who do those belong to?” She demanded.
Before Janice could answer Ailie opened the door looking far from pleased. “Mary-Lou,” She called, “What a surprise, I had no idea you were going to pop over.”
“Evidently.” Mary-Lou remarked coolly beginning to get a vague idea of what might have been going on.
“Won’t you come in for some breakfast, we’re making it now.”
Mary-Lou looking grim made her way into the house, she was taking her coat off when Nikolai made his way down the stairs wearing just his trousers, “Fleur,” He called, “Where’s the bag with all our stuff in?” Before turning to Mary-Lou whose eyes looked as if they were about to pop out of her head and looking at her as if she was something nasty on the end of his shoe.
“Mary-Lou this is Nikolai,” Ailie said trying to give Nikolai a look of warning, before leading Mary-Lou into the kitchen. Fleur was in there with Christian, Judy, Paul and Daisy, Mary-Lou eyed them all severely as far as she knew Judy was the only Chalet girl there.
Mary-Lou sat down at the top of the table impressively before saying, “Now Ailie would you like to explain to me what’s going on? I thought that it was only Janice and Judy who were staying here last night, who are all these others?”
“Fleur was allowed to stay here too, she’s new at school.” Ailie said defiantly.
“Which one of you is Fleur then?” Mary-Lou asked looking round and remembering that it was for Fleur that the bare chested boy had been asking for.
“I am.” Fleur answered looking bored, “Who are you?”
“I’m Mary-Lou.” Was the answer Fleur got.
“And that means…” Fleur said looking blank.
“I’m ex head girl of the Chalet school!” Mary-Lou said importantly. “I’m the supposed to be one of the best ever, you know.”
“Oh I should have known you’d be another one.” Fleur drawled.
Mary-Lou decided to ignore this girl, if she were still at school then she would have made it her mission to win over this girl but she could not embark on a mission like this now. She had to get to the bottom of what had been happening at Round House.
“Ailie, I’ve already asked you to explain to me once what’s been going on here and I’m still waiting for an answer.” Mary-Lou said sharply.
Christian frowned and stepping forward put his arm around Ailie protectively, “Don’t speak to Ailie in that tone of voice.” He said firmly.
Mary-Lou’s face clouded over but before she spoke Ailie said, “Don’t worry about it Christian I can deal with this.” She paused before adding, “I just had a few more friends over than Mum and Dad knew about. That's all, nothing terrible has happened.”
Mary-Lou was not paying attention to Ailie’s words though, as soon as she finished speaking she said, “You have a boyfriend as well I see. Well I don’t suppose your Mother knows, I would have heard of it otherwise. What has possessed you and Janice? Your family doesn’t know these boys, how do you know they’re decent?” Mary-Lou had worked her-self up into a state, she was convinced that Fleur was an insolent child and that Christian had been threatening her.
“Christian is Fleur’s brother,” Ailie said patiently before adding on inspiration, “Their Father is a doctor, he knows Dad. Dylan is Holly’s brother” She pointed at Holly who was trying to not get involved, “She’s Fleur’s best friend.” She paused and noticed that Mary-Lou had not seemed to notice Judy and Paul, she saw Judy give her a small nod so felt free to say, “I suppose you’d better know that Judy is going out with Fleur’s twin Paul.”
Mary-Lou was confused she had never thought it possible for Ailie, Janice and Judy to act like this. Looking around the kitchen she noticed dirty plates and glasses, together with empty alcohol bottles.
“Right,” She barked making them all jump, “Your all going to have to tidy up the mess you’ve made and that includes those three outside.” She pointed to the direction of the hall, where Janice, Dylan and Nikolai had all been listening to the conversation, trying their hardest not to laugh!

#68:  Author: CazxLocation: Swansea/Bristol PostPosted: Sat Feb 28, 2004 11:22 pm

Well done Ellie for guessing correctly Laughing

Fleur looking at Mary-Lou indignantly cried out, “And what makes you think that we weren’t going to tidy up anyway. We would have got Ailie into so much trouble if we left the house in this state!”
Before Mary-Lou could reply Ailie angrily said, “We won’t tidy up Mary-Lou. There’s no point you’d only tell Mum and Dad about what had been happening anyway, we’d be putting in effort for nothing.”
Mary-Lou startled that there were people who had the courage to stand up to her did not quite know what to do. She felt she had lost control of the situation drastically. She decided that the best way of regaining control and power was to strike a deal with the rebels.
“How about we come to a compromise,” She said slowly, “Will you tidy up the mess if I promise you that I won’t tell your parents about what has been going on. Your Mother’s worrying enough about Sybil to have this to deal with as well.”
“What’s wrong with Sybs?” Ailie demanded, she adored her older sister and knew she was being kept in the dark about her.
“You’re to young to understand.” Mary-Lou snapped, “Now do we have a deal.”
“What else do you want?” Nikolai’s voice came from the doorway, he could not see how they could get away as lightly as this.
“There’s nothing else,” Mary-Lou said shortly before adding, “I only want the Chalet girls to swear to me on the school that they will never do anything like this again.” Mary-Lou had a firm held belief that the school had a strong hold over all its girls and that they would do anything in it’s interests.
Fleur glanced at Nikolai and seeing him smirking said, “Fine, I swear on the Chalet school that I will never attend any house parties or throw one my-self again.”
Mary-Lou smiled to her-self happy in the belief that she had converted Fleur in only a few minutes and without even trying that hard. It was harder for the other three to swear to this though, unlike Fleur they did have a loyalty to the school and did not like to think they would be breaking their word against it. Eventually they to did swear though and under the supervision of Mary-Lou they began to clean.
Mary-Lou with a firm belief of equality in her manner allowed them the great treat of working in teams for the cleaning effort. Mary-Lou believing she needed to encourage Fleur further allowed her to be team captain, and she had picked Nikolai, Janice, Dylan and Daisy to be with her. They were in charge of cleaning the lounge.
“God she’s the limit isn’t she!” Nikolai moaned as he began to collect the empty glasses.
“Tell me about it.” Janice groaned, “She’s known me for years and is friends with my sister and cousin.”
Dylan gave her a sympathetic look and said, “It’s a shame she didn’t come last night, we could have got her drunk.”
“Yeah and taken incriminating photos!” Daisy said laughing.
The five began to laugh madly at this thought, none of them could picture Mary-Lou drunk. She looked as if she disapproved of having the slightest drop of alcohol near her, unless it was for medicinal purposes.
“Well we can’t do anything sadly,” Fleur sighed mournfully, “We’d tip her over the edge if we did and she’d definitely tell Ailie’s Mum.”
“Oh we’ll be for it anyway,” Janice said darkly, “She’s bound to tell Auntie Joey, and she’ll tell us exactly what she thinks!”
“Well we’ll just have to pass that bridge when we come to it.” Fleur said as she began to polish a table.
They had been cleaning steadily for two hours before Mary-Lou decided that the house was clean enough for Fleur and co to leave. However much to the annoyance of Ailie, Janice and Judy she insisted on staying at Round House and lecturing them on their behaviour and how they were to young to be having boyfriends until the rest of the Russell household came home. Yet she did stick to her agreement and say nothing of what had been going on while they were away.

Only a little bit tonight, as I got distracted!

It was strange for Fleur to go back to school after having a month of all her old freedoms at home. Leaving Nikolai, Holly, Christian, her Dad and all the rest was just as hard as it had been in September. Ailie, Janice and Judy understood Fleur's position, none of them had wanted to part from Christian, Dylan and Paul respectively. Fleur however was not to be comforted by the thought that her friends were feeling the same as her. She felt that it was by far much worse for her than for them and refused to adjust her outlook.
Fleur continued to keep Miss Annersley at a distance she still could not forgive her, and the holidays had only caused her grudge against her to grow stronger. Fleur worked hard and her friends realised that Fleur in school was a lot more difficult to talk to than the Fleur out of school. She hardly seemed to talk to even Ailie, Janice and Judy. She was always off in a dream world and would snap whenever someone who was not one of her particular friends asked what was wrong. Ailie, Janice and Judy although worried about her did not think there was anything wrong. They knew how homesick Fleur had declared she would be for the first few weeks. They remembered how she had told them to ignore her mood swings which would be bound to occur at the start of term.
The first major excitement of term was the news that Ailie's sister Sybil was going to be visiting her Aunt Joey. This would be the first time the school had seen Sybil since she had left for Australia four years previously. Many wondered how she would be changed and whether she would still be as beautiful as ever.

Not posting much again today, as I'm going to celebrate St. Davids day later with the Welsh Society Laughing

Fleur had heard a lot about Ailie’s elder sister Sybil. How she was the beauty of the family with sapphire blue eyes and a splendid head of chestnut coloured curls. How she resented being known as the family beauty. How she had scalded her sister Josette when she was eight years old, before Ailie was born.
Ailie had been able to go and see her sister the day after she had arrived at Freudesheim, the rest of the sixth form had to wait for a few days before Sybil would grace them with her presence.
“She’s awfully tired and run down.” Ailie explained to her friends, “Mummy’s awfully worried about her, they’ve brought her to Auntie Jo’s because they think the mountain air will do her good. But she told me that apart from seeing me she wishes she could have stayed at Round House, Auntie Jo is telling her what to do with Malvina all the time, going on about how she’s had eleven children, twelve if you include Claire. Daddy insisted on Sybs coming here though, so she’s stuck I suppose.”
Fleur felt desperately sorry for Sybil, she had formed a romantic idea in her mind that she was a kindred spirit. Someone who saw the Chalet School and the way it brought up its girls in the same light as she did. She thought Sybil would be a fiery character and not willing to be told what to do. So Fleur was shocked when she did meet Sybil. She was just as beautiful as everyone said she was but a tragic air seemed to hang about her, her eyes were unfocused and seemed to be looking at something far, far away in the distance.
It was just the sixth form who had been invited to tea at Freudesheim and each girl was envious of Ailie for having the privilege of nursing baby Malvina.
“She’s so sweet.” Cooed Tessa De Besac, sitting next to Ailie, and stroking one of Malvina’s tiny hands.
“Of course she is!” Ailie said, she was very proud of being an Aunt at seventeen
“Oh look she’s opening her eyes,” Janice said suddenly, “Oh they’re exactly like Sybil’s.”
“She looks the image of Sybil as a baby, right down to the ginger hair.” Joey, Malvina’s Great Aunt put in.
Fleur was the only one who was not constantly baby worshipping Malvina, she was used to babies what with Sasha at home, and she was not overly interested in this one. She kept on glancing at Sybil and noticed that when Jo said this Sybil’s face had assumed it’s most tragic air yet and that she looked as if she was quite literally going to burst into silent tears then and there. Sybil caught Fleur looking at her and the troubled expression of the younger girl made her pull herself together and wonder who that girl was and what was the matter with her. It seemed to Sybil that there was something in Fleur’s eyes that were also in her own.

Yay the board is back Laughing
Here's what has been written since the board died! It's not that much though!

“What did the Abbess want with you Ailie?” Asked Judy curiously looking up from a letter from Paul.
“She said that Sybil had asked her if me, you, Jan and Fleur would be allowed to go away for the weekend with her. Do you want to come?”
“Oh yes,” Judy said smiling at the thought of a weekend away from school.
“It sounds like fun.” Janice said as she stopped sketching for a few minutes.
“Fleur, what about you? I suppose you’ll be going to your Grandparents as usual.”
“What?” Fleur said, she had not been paying any attention to the conversation.
“Will you be able to come away with us and Sybs for the weekend?” Ailie said patiently the girls were used to Fleur’s distracted state of mind now.
“I suppose so,” She answered, “What’s she doing about Malvina?”
“Auntie Joey thought it would be for the best if she stayed with her.” Ailie told her wondering why Sybil was so willing to leave her tiny daughter for a few days, surely most new Mother’s hated being parted from their children.
It was not just Fleur’s friends who were noticing her changed state, her work was beginning to slip much to the concern of the staff.
“What has come over Fleur Matieux?” Bemoaned Miss Charelsworth, the school’s history mistress. “All last term I was giving her high A’s for her essay’s, the highest marks I’ve probably given for a good few years. This term she’s handed in two essay’s the first was not as good as her other essays but still either an high B or low A, this second one I’ve just marked though is not even a B, it’s a very mid C. She’s put no effort into it at all, she’s written the least of any other girl and is rambling the whole time despite making three or four excellent points, which she does not expand on. What’s she like in her other subjects?”
“So she’s like that in History to then, Rosemary.” Miss Annersley said silently, she had been wondering if Fleur had not been working as a form of rebellion against her. “From what you were saying her work for history is at the exact same standard as her work for English, she’s slipped drastically this term. What’s her other A level again?”
“She does both French and German,” Spoke up little Mademoiselle Lachenais, “I can’t speak for her German but her French work is not as excellent as it was. Her compositions used to be delightful, but this term there’s no imagination or effort put into them.”
The German mistress confirmed the same thing, since the beginning of the spring term Fleur’s work had not been up to its usual high standard.
Miss Charelsworth turned to Miss Annersley and said, “Has anything changed in her home situation since last term that you’re aware of? Maybe that would explain her work.”
“There are no changes that I’m aware of,” She said slowly, “I think I’d better speak to her though and try to see if everything is really alright.”

Fleur had spent most of her English lesson staring into space. She paid very little attention to what Miss Annersley was saying, and barely knew what the lesson was about. At the end of the lesson Miss Annersley had to ask her three times to stay behind before Fleur even realised that she was talking to her.
“Fleur,” Miss Annersley asked gently, “Is everything alright? The other teachers and I are worried about you, your work this term has not been up to it’s excellent standard of last term.”
“I’m perfectly fine.” Fleur said coldly annoyed that the staff had been discussing her.
“If your perfectly fine Fleur then why has your work slipped?” Miss Annersley had decided to treat Fleur patiently.
Fleur just shrugged, she knew she had not been trying very hard this term but she knew that anyone in her place would act exactly the same.
“Fleur we want to help you, you do know that don’t you? If you are unhappy here then we want to help you, we want you to enjoy your time here. I thought that by the end of last term you were beginning to enjoy the Chalet School. What has changed?”
Fleur hearing Miss Annersley’s sweet clear voice almost told her what was wrong but then remembering the end of the Christmas term when Miss Annersley had let her Mother see her decided that she would not.
“There’s nothing wrong with me Miss Annersley,” Fleur said with dignity, “I am not unhappy here, I just work in fits and bursts, next month I’ll probably begin working again. We’ll just have to wait and see.” With this said Fleur stalked out of the room, her head held high and her eyes flashing. Miss Annersley shook her head and sighed, she did not believe Fleur’s words and decided to get Matey to keep a firm eye on her.

Well, I can see that Fleur is going to end up having a closed doors discussion in the study.

Just, please, don't let Jo Maynard interfere.

Someone has to! Poor staff! and I'm awed by Hilda's forbearance with Fleur- she was really quite rude. then again, that's no surprise- Hilda's forbearance, that is.

Hey, Lesley- you and Rachael should lobby Liss into creating Hilda and Nell fan atavars like the ones for Kathie and Nancy! May as well have the virtual as well the the real versions..

Sybil took her younger sister and her friends to Berne for the weekend. They stayed in a hotel for two nights and during the day went sightseeing and shopping. Sybil was initially surprised when she saw what clothes her sister was buying, but then remembering how she had never been allowed to wear what she had wanted decided to let Ailie buy anything she wanted and not be disapproving. Ailie was worried about her sister, she was so different from what she had used to be. The Sybil Ailie remembered and loved was happy and go lucky her ally and confidante against her parents attempts to mould her into the sweet gentle daughter they had always wanted. It was the last night of their stay in Berne when eating dinner in Sybil’s room Ailie could not help but blurt out, “Sybil what’s wrong why are you so different? Why don’t you laugh anymore?”
Janice and Judy looked at each other uncomfortably feeling that they were intruding, Fleur slowly began to come out of her dream world and watched Sybil with interest to see how she would react.
“It’s nothing Ailie.” Sybil said quietly as she looked away not wanting the younger girls to see how close to tears she was.
“Sybs it’s not nothing.” Ailie persisted, “You’re upset, we’re sisters remember I can tell when there’s something wrong with you.”
“I can’t tell you,” Sybil said at last, “Mummy doesn’t want you to know, she thinks you’re too young.”
“I know more about life than Mummy thinks!” Ailie said sullenly.
“What do you mean?” Sybil asked curiosity rousing her back to life.
“I’ve told them about life.” Fleur said suddenly, “I told them the truth about things.”
Sybil raised her eyebrows slightly and looked surprised. She was shocked that her parents had allowed Ailie to be friends with Fleur if she had enlightened them about how the world worked.
Ailie deciding to be completely honest with her sister then added, “I think I’d better tell you that I’m going out with Fleur’s brother Christian, he’s eighteen.”
Sybil did not launch into a condemning attack on Ailie, which is what Ailie had half feared. Instead she said looking sad and thoughtful, “You’d better not let Mum and Dad find out then Ailie, they’ll only make you put a stop to it.”
“What do you mean make me put a stop to it?” Ailie said not quite understanding what her sister meant.
Sybil did not answer her younger sister directly, she turned to Judy and addressed her first, “Do you remember when I came to visit Blossom when I was the same age as you.”
Judy looking completely bewildered said confusedly, “Not really… Kind of, was that the time that you and Blossom got lost in London?”
Sybil her face more active than it had been for a long time said “Yes, but we didn’t get lost. Blossom and I spent the first few days playing tennis. We were allowed to go to the tennis club on our own, your mother thinking that we’d be fine there. We met two boys there, Alex and Tim, they were a two years older than us and we played doubles together. They made me and Blossom feel older and more grown up, they made us laugh.”
“What happened next?” Ailie asked wondering why she had never heard anything about this.
“We stopped playing tennis and instead we would go into London for the day with them or they would drive us into the country. One day we took longer to get back then we thought we would and when Blossom’s parents phoned the tennis club to see where we were they were told that they had not seen us for over a week. Well the truth had to come out then, only it was kept hush amongst the adults and everyone else was told we had gone to the centre of London for the day and had ended up lost, and all hell broke loose. Mummy and Daddy were told what had happened and they came up to bring me home, the whole journey home consisted of them telling me how disappointed they were in me. That was nothing new, I’d heard that since I was eight years old when I accidentally scalded Josette. But they did say that I must never see Alex again, if I did then I couldn’t go to the needle work college which I’d always wanted to go to. I thought I had no other option so tearfully said that I wouldn’t see him or contact him. But Alex had different ideas and he wrote to me, I arranged to meet him one last time to say goodbye but Mummy caught us talking in the orchard of Round House. There was a big row over that, I was blamed for upsetting Mummy, Daddy was saying that I was too young to have boys hanging around me, Auntie Jo said that we knew nothing about his family-for all we knew he might not have had any doctor relations. Well Alex was quickly sent packing and I was told that needlework college was off, and that I must never see Alex again or face the wrath of the whole family. I’d already faced that over the Josette affair so I reluctantly agreed.”
The four girls had all been listening eagerly to Sybil, none of them spoke for a few moments after she had finished speaking until Ailie asked, “Did you really never see him again?”
Sybil turned to her younger sister and said quietly, “No, I did meet him again but that was years after when I first had met him.”

Was supposed to write more of this but didn't Sad
Don't know if it makes much sense as I am tired!

There was more silence following this until Fleur said, “What happened when you met him again?”
Sybil took a deep breath and answered, “I’ll have to tell you about what my life had been liked before I met him first.”
Ailie took hold of her sister’s hand saying, “You know Sybs you don’t have to tell us if you don’t want to.”
Sybil looked into her younger sisters earnest blue eyes and told her, “No it’s fine Ailie, I want you to know what had happened.” She stared into the distance for a few moments before beginning to speak again, “After the whole Alex affair I went back for my last year at school. I had been a sub prefect the year before and earlier in the summer Mummy had asked me how I would feel about being head girl. I’d have loved to have been head girl but after what happened with Alex it was decided that Elinor would be better for the job after all and I was shunted off into Hobbies. I didn’t really mind, I was too upset about Alex. Anyway after I had left school and gone to St Mildred’s there was nothing for me to do as Needle work college was off, I had been secretly hoping that Mummy and Daddy would relent but they didn’t. I just stayed at home, occasionally I would go and stay with friends or relations but only those who mummy and Daddy knew. I was so bored at home, there was nothing to do and I felt so trapped there. I felt as if my whole life since I was eight years old had been one long punishment. I hated the fact that I could not do what I wanted to do and lead my own life. I hated having to fulfil a role which Mum and Dad had appointed to me, that of the spoilt daughter come good through her own selfishness. When we went to Australia I discovered that Josette was feeling exactly the same way as I was, she hadn’t wanted to come but Mummy had insisted on her coming so she had no other choice in the matter. I met Joshua a short while after we arrived in Australia, his uncle was one of the doctors at the conference with Dad so it was seen as all right for me to get to know him. I probably would not have agreed to marry him when I barely knew him if I had not been so sick and tired of living back home. I needed a way out you see.” Sybil paused, it was hard to know if she was leaving anything out. “Well we got married and then Josette also decided to settle in Australia, I wondered if that was in order to get away from Mum and Dad but I didn’t say anything to her about it. She seemed to love her husband, Tom, and be involved in everything he did. Josh being in the Navy meant I barely saw him, I didn’t miss him though at least not in the same way as Josette missed Tom when he had to go away on business. Joshua was more like my best friend than lover, I did not love him the same way as he loved me and I think he realised that. Anyway about eighteen months after we had been married I was shopping in Sydney when I heard someone call out Sybil Russell, when I turned round to see who it was I saw Alex. When I saw him everything seemed to fall into place. We had coffee together and talked of what had happened since the last time we’d met, I told him all about my marriage and how it wasn’t working the way I had wanted my marriage to work, he told me that he was having a year of travelling after being in university. He told me that he was going to be in Sydney for quite a few weeks so I arranged to meet him later in the week. It didn’t take long for us to embark on an affair. I felt guilty about hurting Joshua but I knew that I had to live my own life and do what I wanted to do with it. When Alex told me that he loved me and that he wanted me to come away with him I readily agreed, I only said that we must tell Joshua first. We agreed that when he next had leave that I would tell him then.” Sybil’s voice began to crack as she continued her tale and her eyes were watery. “But two days before Joshua came home Alex was hit by a bus. He died a few hours later, I was by his bedside the whole time, he told me that I had to be strong and live for his unborn child. When he died though part of me died with him.” The tears were falling down Sybil’s face freely now, Ailie put her arm around her sister and Janice, Judy and Fleur stood up as if to leave the room.
However Sybil stopped them saying, “No don’t go I haven’t finished yet.”

Hope this makes sense...

Sybil tried to recompose herself, but for the next few minutes she found the tears would not stop falling down her face. She had not cried like this since Alex had first died and it was a relief to be able to show her emotions and let her still raw grief out.
“Take your time before you tell us what happened next.” Janice said softly.
Sybil nodded but she soon managed to pull herself together so that the cascade of tears stopped. “When Joshua came home from leave I was still in a state of shock over what had happened to Alex. I didn’t know what to do regarding Joshua, I didn’t love him but I needed somewhere to stay somewhere to be safe. I knew that if I told him about Alex then I couldn’t stay in the same house as him, I’d feel to bad. I decided that I wouldn’t tell him anything until he next came home hoping that I’d be stronger then. But Joshua found out anyway. I could not explain away my morning sickness and when after two weeks of me being sick each morning he asked me if I was pregnant I couldn’t deny it. He knew he wasn’t the baby’s Father and he demanded to know who was.” Sybil paused her face becoming troubled as she thought back to those days. Janice looked around at her friends, Ailie was clearly anxious about her sister, Judy had a look of morbid fascination on her face, while Fleur biting her lip was markedly paler than usual, “When he confronted me I was terrified, I was shaking, I did not know what to do or say. Joshua is not a bad person and he realised that I had not meant to hurt him and that I was scared of his reaction. He got us some water and we both began to calm down, I told him all about Alex and my life at home before I met him. Although I didn’t exactly say it he guessed that the only reason I’d married him was to get away from him. He told me that our marriage was over, which I readily agreed with, but that he’d always be there for me as a friend. We agreed that I would stay in our home at least until the baby was born and that we’d get a divorce. Joshua did not automatically forgive me over night but he tried to treat me as a friend rather than an enemy. His family were a different matter though, they were mean and nasty towards me, I deserved it but it was still upsetting. Anyway Malvina was born, she’s called Malvina because that’s what Alex used to call me for a joke.” Sybil smiled to herself at this memory. “Her middle name is Alexandra. When she was born she had his dark hair and there was a resemblance, I was so glad she was like him, I could see him through her. But you’ve seen her now and heard what Auntie Jo said, she looks like me. I sound incredibly selfish but I want her to look like him not me, I can’t see him in her now.”
Nobody quite knew what to say to this so there was a long pause before Ailie said, “Do Mummy and Daddy know what you told us Sybil?”
“Yes. Mummy’s friend Con Mackenzie told her that I was run down and that she was worried about me. Well Mummy flew out to Australia and well she had to know the truth then. To say she was shocked is an understatement, it took her ages to accept the fact that Malvina wasn’t Joshua’s child. When she asked me if I wanted to go back home I agreed, I was so tired by this point, I just needed rest. I wish I hadn’t come home now though, it’s worse than ever. I get to spend hardly any time with Malvina, they think it’s best if Rosa looks after as she’s used to children.”
“You have to do something about it then Sybil.” Fleur said suddenly, “You can’t sit around waiting for something to happen, you must go out there and make it happen.”
“What can I do though?” Sybil asked in amazement.
“You could go to Needlework College like you’ve always wanted to. You could go part time or something and do work in your spare time to earn some money.”
“What about Malvina though? I’m not going anywhere without her.”
“You could put her in a nursery when you have classes, the college might even have one of its own.”
Sybil frowned she liked the sound of the idea but would she have the courage or confidence to go out there and try to do something about it. She decided to think carefully about it.
“Ailie,” She said as the three other girls left the room to go to bed, “Don’t let Mummy and Daddy try to mould you into something you’re not. I know they always go on about how you’re not the sweet gentle daughter they always wanted, well ignore them. Do what you want to do and if they find out about Christian and stop you from seeing him and threaten to stop you from doing something you’ve always wanted to do then remember that I’ll always be there to back you up. If ever you need me then I’ll be there for you, I owe you one you’ve really been here for me today.” Sybil pulled her sister into a hug.
Ailie whispered into her sister’s ear, “Sybil we’re sisters, we’re supposed to be there for one another.”

Well, Sybil clearly needs someone to support her. the real danger is that her parents will try to separate her from her child, perhaps even have it adopted from her without her consent. that may be why they are encouraging her to leave the baby to Rosli, so she doesn't become too fond of it.

#149:  Author: Sarah_LLocation: Redcar PostPosted: Mon Mar 15, 2004 8:52 pm

#150:  Author: CazxLocation: Swansea/Bristol PostPosted: Mon Mar 15, 2004 9:34 pm

Don't know if there are mistakes in this as haven't time to proof read it!

The four girls went back to school the next day each having a lot to think about. It was the first time in Ailie, Judy and Janice’s life’s that they had witnessed someone being so miserable. Fleur had not met anyone as miserable as Sybil either but she was virtually feeling just as miserable as she was at the moment.
Ailie sitting in the common room pretending to be reading was feeling desperately sorry for Sybil. She had had no idea of how trapped her sister had felt at home. Ailie was determined that she would always be there to look out for Sybil. If she wanted to go away to Needlework College then she would support her all the way, she would not let their parents stand in the way of her sisters dream. In regard to Christian she decided that she would not take the risk of telling her parents about him, she did not want them to do to her what they had done to Sybil and Alex. It would be for the best if her and Christian were kept secret, when she saw him she could say she was going to meet Fleur.
Judy was getting ready to go to bed. She wondered if Blossom, her big sister, felt the same way as Sybil. Had her parents reacted in the same way as Sybil’s? How would Blossom react if she, Judy, asked her about what had happened? She and Blossom had never been close like Ailie and Sybil appeared to be, would Blossom be willing to pour out her heart to her younger sister, would she be willing to give her advice about how to deal with her parents in regard to Paul? Judy wanted to be close to her sister, Ailie was close to Sybil, Janice had Beth, and Fleur had Christian not to mention Magali who was as good as her sister. Judy wanted to have someone in her family to be close to.
Fleur could not sleep. She was restless. What Sybil had said was making her think. She was clearly unhappy with her life and what had happened in it, Fleur saw this clearly and knew that she didn’t want to end up like Sybil. She would have to act on her own advice and do something about the situation, doing nothing would not get her anywhere, in fact it would make everything worse. Fleur tried to empty her mind and go to sleep but she couldn’t. All she saw when she closed her eyes was images of Sybil crying, of baby Malvina in Ailie’s arms and of a dark haired man falling under a bus. Eventually late in the night Fleur managed to drift into a restless sleep full of disturbing dreams relating to her future and Sybil’s past.
Janice had woken up early. She was trying to work out how her parents would react if she was in the same situation as Sybil. She knew her parents were stricter than her Lucy cousin’s parents were but she did not think that they would make her as miserable as Sybil was. Janice’s eldest sister knew about Dylan and she had not told her not to tell her parents so maybe they would be fine with the situation. Janice did not like keeping her parents in the dark, she decided that she would write to Beth and ask her for advice about how to break the news. Janice suddenly frowned as she heard someone get out of bed and make their way out of the dormitory. Who could be getting out of bed now? It was half an hour before the rising bell, Janice as dormitory prefect decided to go and investigate.

Maybe more later!

Very worried about this Confused

Janice quickly put on her dressing grown and slippers and made her way out of the dormitory and into the corridor. She walked towards the bathrooms wondering if anyone was ill. She saw one of the doors slightly ajar and pushed it open. Janice quickly shut the door behind her, when she saw Fleur, pale and clammy, leaning against the bathroom wall next to the toilet.
“Fleur!” Janice exclaimed kneeling down next to her, “What’s wrong?”
“It’s nothing Janice honestly, I’m just feeling a bit sick.” Fleur said quickly not looking her friend in the eye.
Janice eyed her suspiciously and said, “I’m going to go and get Matey.”
“No don’t.” Fleur protested, “I’m fine.” Fleur moved to get up but she quickly sank back into her previous position putting her hands over her mouth, “Jan hold my hair back, please.” She said before being sick.
Janice frowned to herself, she was trying to remember something that Sybil had said the other day now what was it? “I could not explain away my morning sickness and when after two weeks of me being sick each morning he asked me if I was pregnant I couldn’t deny it.” The words hit Janice suddenly, once Fleur had recovered from her bout of sickness Janice biting her lip asked her, “Fleur are you pregnant?”
Fleur if possible turned even paler, “It’s that obvious isn’t it?”
Janice put her arm around Fleur and pulled her close to her, “No, I only guessed because I found you like this.”
“It’s awful Jan, I hate it so much.” Fleur’s lips were trembling and her eyes were full of tears.
“Is that why you’ve been so odd since we’ve come back?” Janice asked quietly, she found that for some reason she was not surprised at the news.
“Yes, I didn’t know for sure then but I do now. I can’t think of anything else.” Fleur was verging on hysterics.
“Fleur darling I know your upset but you must be quiet, think of what would happen if Matey found us.”
Fleur pulled her-self together slightly and managed to stop crying so heavily.
“Does Nikolai know, Fleur?” Janice asked wondering how he had taken the news.
“Kind of.” Fleur mumbled looking away from Janice.
“What do you mean by kind of?” Janice said sharply.
“Just that I wrote him a letter saying that I must see his as soon as, and that something terrible had happened. He’ll probably have guessed from that, he knows this is the worst thing which could happen to me.”
“When did you write to him?” Janice asked a feeling of doom seemed to have just dropped on her stomach.
“A week today.”
“And you haven’t heard from him yet?”
“No but the post must have delayed or something, he won’t write anyway he’ll come out here on his bike.” Fleur seeing the frown on Janice’s face added, “I know what you’re thinking Jan, and that’s not what he’s like. He’ll come to me, I’m sure.”
Janice didn’t say anything more about Nikolai she just looked at Fleur and said, “What are you going to do?”
Fleur turning away from Janice said, “I’m going to do what’s best for me.”
“Which is?” Janice asked thinking that Fleur probably thought that she would not approve.
“Jan you know I want to make something of my life, you know I want to go to Cambridge and get a degree. Well I want to change the world, I want to make it a better place. My life is all planned out and getting pregnant at sixteen and having a baby to look after at seventeen just isn’t part of my plans. I have to get rid of it somehow and soon.”
Janice was shocked to hear this, she had never thought that Fleur could be so cruel to kill her unborn child, she could never do it. Fleur saw Janice’s expression and began to cry bitterly again, she had so much wanted someone to support her. Janice knew that her reaction was not the one which Fleur had been looking for and felt a small twinge of guilt. She should really try and be there for Fleur, after all it was her life she had the right to make her own decisions.
“Fleur, I can’t deny the fact that what you said did surprise me and that I don’t agree with what you want to do but I suppose that it is your own choice and that if this is what you really want then…”
“Oh it is Janice, I can’t bear to disappoint Dad, he’d be there for me but I’d always feel as if I had failed you see. I wouldn’t be a good Mother now anyway, I’m too young and have too many problems of my own to look after another human being.”
Janice seeing Fleur looking at her hopefully could not stop herself from saying, “I’ll be here for you Fleur for as long as you need me. I’ll help you cover it up until Nikolai gets here, and Ailie and Judy will help too I’m sure.”
“No,” Fleur exclaimed, “Ailie and Judy can’t know, Jan if you don’t mind then it’ll be just you who helps me.”
“Why don’t you want them to know?” Janice asked thinking that it would have been nice to have another two people to share the responsibility with.
“They might tell Christian and Paul, both of them would kill Nikolai if they found out. That just cannot happen, don’t you see.”
Janice nodded she did see, she knew how protective Fleur’s brothers were of her, and even if Nikolai was Christian’s friend he would not hesitate to start a fight with him over getting Fleur pregnant.
“Janice you will be here for me won’t you?” Fleur asked in a small voice.
Janice looked into Fleur’s watery brown eyes and said, “Yes, I will Fleur. I promise.”

#163:  Author: CazxLocation: Swansea/Bristol PostPosted: Tue Mar 16, 2004 6:52 pm

Thanks for the support I was worried this might be a bit controversial. Maybe some more later!

Fleur felt slightly better about her life now someone else knew about what was wrong with her. She had unburdened all her fears in her talk to Janice and found that her thinking was now a bit more rational than it had been for a while. She was worried about Nikolai not having sent her news about when he would arrive to see her but she decided that the letter still must have not arrived yet.
Fleur could not imagine her life if she had a baby to look after, she just knew that she would be unhappy and bitter. She saw abortion as her only way out, she knew it was illegal in Switzerland but she was sure that there must be someone out there willing help her if she had the right amount of money.
Fleur however did have a half idea that if she told her Dad about it and asked him to then he and Dominique would bring up her baby as their own but Fleur thought that would be too strange and would probably screw the child’s life up when it found out the truth. “It would grow up thinking that Dominique, whose no real relation, was it’s Mother, that it’s Grandfather was it’s Father, that I it’s Mother was it’s sister. Just living like that would freak me out.” Fleur thought to herself, “Anyway when it came down to it having it growing inside me for nine long months, feeling it move, and giving birth to it and holding it in my arms then I probably would want to keep it. Adoption’s ruled out for the same reason. I’m so selfish but this is one of the things, which I don’t want to have in life. An abortion is my only way out.”
Janice felt that Fleur’s problem had descended on her shoulders. She had to make sure that nobody noticed Fleur’s picking of food at meal times, and had to be on alert in case Fleur’s emotions overcame her again. Janice was sleeping less too, she would worry over Fleur when trying to go to sleep, she would wake up early so to go to the bathroom and look after Fleur when she was being sick. Then once they were back in the dormitory she would try to help Fleur with her cubicle without drawing any of the others attention. Fleur was unable to make her bed to Matey’s liking as any sudden or strenuous movements made her feel nauseous again. Janice did not resent Fleur for this though, she felt desperately sorry for her, even more so than she felt for Sybil. Janice hated having to see Fleur having to cope without the support of Nikolai, whose fault it was for Fleur becoming pregnant. Janice was not as certain as Fleur was about Nikolai coming to see her, she had not told Fleur that she had written a letter to Dylan on the same day and that she had received a reply on the day that she had found out about Fleur’s baby.

On the Friday Fleur went to Geneva to spend the weekend with her Grandparents.
“Thank-you Jan for all you’ve done since Tuesday, you’ve been such a help.” Fleur said before she left.
“Fleur it’s nothing, I just want to make sure that you’re alright.” Janice did not really know what to say they had been ignoring the reason for why she was helping Fleur. “You take it easy on the weekend now, you need to rest. You have such black bags under your eyes.”
Fleur smiled tiredly, “I’m going to tell Magali,” She said suddenly before adding quickly, “I’m going to ask her to see if she can try and find out if anyone knows of a doctor who performs private abortions…”
Janice put her hand over her mouth feeling sick at the thought, she could not handle the fact that Fleur wanted to get rid of her child in such a inhumane way. “Couldn’t you think about it some more before you do anything so extreme? You might regret it later.”
Fleur hated upsetting Janice when she was helping her, “I have to start to do something soon, Janice.” She said quietly, “If I leave it any longer then it might be too late.”

Just a little bit for tonight, oh and have got some sounding boards!

Fleur arrived back to school on Sunday night still looking tired and worried. Janice not wanting to be seen as prying did not ask her for information, she waited for Fleur to volunteer it on her own accord. Fleur did not mention the baby to Janice until late in the evening when Janice had gone to get Fleur who was in one of the music practice rooms absent mindidly strumming on her guitar.
“Fleur,” Janice said from the doorway, “It’s bed time in ten minutes you know.”
“Yeah, I know.” Fleur said, Janice waited a few minutes to see if Fleur added anything before turning to go out of the door. “Janice,” Fleur called suddenly, “Wait a minute, I want to tell you something.”
Janice made her way back into the room shutting the door behind her.
“I told Magali.” Fleur said at last.
“What did she say?” Janice asked knowing that Fleur was something of a role model to her cousin.
“She cried,” Fleur said simply, “It was nice having someone to cry with, comforting in a way.”
Janice did not know what to say so she just nodded, hoping to seem as if she understood.
“I asked her if she could find out about an abortion for me. She said that a rumour had gone round about Antoine getting some girl pregnant a few months ago and that he had arranged a abortion for her, she promised me that she would try and chase it up. If all goes well with her then hopefully next weekend I can go and get it done.”
Janice frowned, “Shouldn’t you wait to hear from Nikolai first Fleur?”
“I will have heard from him by then,” Fleur said quietly, she was actually quite worried about the fact that she had not heard from him. So worried in fact that she had phoned him on Saturday morning, he had not been in and had not returned her call. She had told his sister, Katya that it was really important for him to get back to her. Why hadn’t he?
Janice did not say anything, she could not see there was any possible way for her to be able to change Fleur’s mind it seemed so firm and set.
“Fleur, you know I am here for you, even if I don’t fully agree with what you are going to do.” Janice said she did not to seem as if she was pushing Fleur away.
“I know,” Fleur said slowly, “But there are times, now don’t be cross with me for saying this and don’t think me ungrateful because I’m not, but there are times when I wish that Holly was here. She would understand completely. I really miss her you know.”
Janice nodded she did not mind Fleur’s words, “Have you told her?” She asked.
Fleur nodded, “I wrote to her last Monday, I had a letter from her then asking me why I had not been my usual bubbly self in my last letter. So I told her everything.”
Janice nodded, she wondered how long it would take Holly to realise that Nikolai knew and was doing nothing about it. As in her mind that was what he was doing.

Finally caught up with this Caz, it's great. I can see why you were slightly nervous - "Abortion at thte Chalet School" doesn't sound like a title GGBP would be clamouring to publish!
I'm getting very worried about Fleur though, I do hope that she can be persuaded to change her mind, but if not, then please don't let there be any dire consequences, back street abortions aren't exactly safe, are they?
And please let Sybil be able get away from Madge & Jem & Joey and the rest of them, they have no right to try to keep running her life like that!

#189:  Author: CazxLocation: Swansea/Bristol PostPosted: Thu Mar 18, 2004 9:10 pm

Here's some more, will hopefully post more later too!

It was a wet Tuesday morning, a week after Janice had found out what was wrong with Fleur. Janice had once again looked after Fleur that morning and was currently employed in brushing her brown curls for her.
“Are you still feeling queasy?” Janice asked in low tones.
“A little.” Fleur answered, “But I’m feeling quite hungry too.”
They made their way down to breakfast, where Fleur looked at the fresh rolls and pots of jam and honey disdainfully.
“I wish we could have a proper English breakfast every once in a while.” She remarked whilst spreading jam on to her roll.
“Fleur,” Judy exclaimed, “I’ve heard you say a dozen times how much you hate fried breakfasts, you refused to eat the sausages and bacon at Ailie’s. Are you feeling right in the head?”
Fleur not fully thinking of what she was saying replied, “Yes, it’s just I have such a craving for bacon and fried bread today.” As soon as the words left her mouth she blushed bright red, which caused Ailie to glance at her and wonder.
Thankfully for Fleur the arrival of the post soon diverted people’s attention away from her. She was lost in a world of her own wondering if anyone could have possibly guessed, when the head girl Lesley Anderson called out, “Hi Fleur, Snap out of it, I’ve called you five times already. Here’s three letters for you.” Fleur snatched the letters out of Lesley’s hand eagerly. Janice watching Fleur as she flicked through her letters saw her face fall and guessed that none of the letters were from Nikolai. She was right, there was a thickish letter from Holly, a letter from her Dad and a note from Magali, whose postmark was only yesterday. Fleur glancing cautiously around satisfied herself that nobody was looking and quickly ripped open Magali’s note. It was just a few sentences long and would have made very little sense to anyone who did not know what the situation was.
“Have made contact with people.” It began. “They have been very helpful. This weekend seems good. Fine or not? Let me know soon. Arrangements need to be made. Love Mags xxx
Fleur pushed the note quickly back into the envelope as Miss Annersley signalled that breakfast was finished. Fleur leaving her two other letters to read at break, hurriedly made her way to the sixth form common room where she grabbed a sheet of paper and scrawled the words, “Go ahead. Is fine with me. Fx,” and hurriedly scribbled Magali’s address on an envelope before rushing to the office hoping to catch Miss Dene before the morning post was sent.
The rest of the morning until break was spent by Fleur wondering why Nikolai still had not got in touch and whether Holly would be able to shed any light on that matter. Fleur also wondered what Holly would say about her news. She knew Holly would be supportive but would she have been surprised? Fleur did not think she would have been, she had the feeling that her friends all had cast her in the role of teenage problem child and she was who else of the group had got pregnant at sixteen.
As soon as break began Fleur rushed to the solitude of the library to read Holly’s letter.
“Fleur Honey,
You don’t know how badly I want to be with you at this time. I’m guessing you feel completely and utterly confused and bewildered and need a shoulder to cry on. I don’t know if you have told Jan and co but if you have then I still wish that it was me there looking after you. I feel awful that I didn’t realise sooner that something was up, did you suspect on your last night at home? You were quiet that night but we all just thought you didn’t want to go back to school. I wish I had talked to you more that night to find out what was wrong, but Nikolai was always hanging on to you and I barely could speak to you. Have you told Nikolai? How has he taken the news? I haven’t seen much of him recently; when I last spoke to him and said that I was worried about you he said that you were just homesick. Does he agree about you having an abortion? You asked me if you thought that was for the best, well I don’t want to influence your decision in one way so I’d rather not comment. I just want to say though that if you do have one then please, for me, make sure that it’s got a good reputation and doesn’t have half of it’s clients dying afterwards. I’ve never told anyone this, it’s the big family secret, but our older cousin Maddy had an abortion when she was eighteen at the start of university and died. The family say it was a heart problem but it wasn’t she had a heart attack due to the amount of blood she had lost after the abortion. I’m guessing that Christian does not know anything about this either as when I saw Nikolai last he was with Christian and the pair of them were messing around laughing and joking.
This is really hard to write Fleur I don’t know what to say or do. I just want you to know that whatever decision you come to then I will support you either way. I know having a abortion would be the best for you, what you said about not being able to handle the responsibility I think is true, but I just want you to be a hundred per cent certain that is what you want and that it’s someone proper whose performing it for you. You will write to me soon won’t you? I’m so worried about you. You know I’m always here for you and that I won’t tell anyone. I’m thinking about you all the time sweetie,
Love ya,
Holly xxx”
Fleur put Holly’s letter down, tears dripping out of her eyes. Holly’s words meant so much too her. She was surprised about Holly’s words about her cousin and decided to look into whomever it was that Magali had found for her reputation thoroughly. Fleur however much she did not want to have her baby did not want to die either, that would be the far worse option of the two.

I've just caught up with the last few posts and It's horribly realistic! Poor Fleur! I'm glad she has Janice and, although this is tough for Janice, it should ensure she doesn't make the same mistakes. I hope Nikolai has not had his letters from Fleur intercepted and that he turns out to be a good guy - but it sounds as if your small sparkling purple leaf is not sure about that! *promises small sparkling purple leaf extra helpings of carrots and dandelion leaves for a happy ending*

Here's the promised bit more, all about how Fleur's feeling.

Fleur could not sleep. She was worrying. Worrying about Nikolai, worrying about her-self and worrying about whether or not to go ahead with the abortion. She had a strong fear of death. She was sure that Magali would not have recommended someone who had a bad record, but what if something did go wrong? Fleur decided to talk to Magali on Friday, she could find out then how she had found this person, and perhaps even speak to the person who had told Magali where to go.
Fleur’s greatest worry though was Nikolai. Why hadn’t he got in touch with her? Didn’t he love her? Had he always been playing her along, using her for sex? Now that she was expecting his baby had he decided that enough was enough and that he could not handle the responsibility anymore? Fleur crying into her pillow believed that Nikolai had not really changed at all from the male slut he had been when she had first met him. The Nikolai she loved was not someone who would ignore her pleas for him to come and see her, or not return her calls. He must have received either the letter or the phone message, Fleur was positive of that fact. Fleur had not heard from him now for nearly two weeks, he had sent her a card and letter on Valentines day, but that must have been sent before her plea for help had reached him. “I’ve been kidding my-self for too long,” Fleur thought to herself bitterly, “Jan thinks he knows, I can tell, and she’s right he’s not going to come out to see me. He’s going to stay at home and pretend that none of this is happening and that I’m not carrying his child.” Fleur loved Nikolai with all her heart and she did not want to believe this to be true, but the ruthless mood she was in now meant that she was lacking the capacity to think things out calmly and rationally, she just saw events in plain black and white.
Fleur turned over on to her back, wishing to herself that she could fall asleep. She placed her hands on her stomach, and was surprised to feel a firm tiny bump was forming. “It is definitely real.” A voice said in her head. Fleur closed her eyes tight and began to think of when she had realised that she could possibly be pregnant. It had been on the last day of the holidays, while she was packing. Dominique had left a packet of sanitary towels out for her to take back to school and then it had hit her at one hundred miles an hour that she should be halfway through her period. Sitting down in shock she had thought to herself, “But we’ve been careful.” Closing her eyes she had had a flash back to the evening of Christmas day, Nikolai and his family had come round for drinks and she and him after a fair amount of wine had gone upstairs to listen to the new stones album he had bought her. Fleur had strained her memory so hard about that night that she now realised that the song that had been playing when the child in her stomach had been created was ironically “Have you seen your Mother Baby.” Fleur remembered those anxious weeks where she was desperate for her period to come, only it didn’t. What did come though was morning sickness, which forced Fleur to accept that she was pregnant.
Fleur running her hands over her stomach noticed how it had changed. It was firmer, and harder, no longer soft when she poked it. She touched the bump gingerly wishing it was not there, and wishing that it would go away. But she felt closer to her unborn baby that sleepless night than ever before, she even wondered whether it was a girl or a boy, she’d never been able to describe her baby as anything other than “it” previously. Fleur thought to her-self that if she had been eighteen instead of sixteen and if Nikolai had been supportive then she would have probably have kept the baby. But she told herself drowsily “I’m sixteen and still at school, and it seems as if there is no Nikolai to support me. I can’t cope now, if I was older then I could have may-be, but if I was to keep this baby then it would just send me over the edge.”
After spending half the night worrying about what was the best thing to do Fleur eventually fell into a restless sleep at three in the morning.

Janice did not wake up until the rising bell went off the next morning. Worrying about Fleur she quickly got out of bed and pushed the curtains between their cubicles apart. Fleur she discovered was still in bed, curled up and fast asleep. Janice hesitated for a moment she did not want to wake her, she’d been so tired and worn down lately. But she also recognised the fact that if she did not wake Fleur then Matey could well appear at any moment and find out about Fleur. Janice bent down over Fleur and shaked her gently, saying in a low tone “Fleur it’s time to get up, the bell just went.”
Fleur half stirred in her sleep, and muttered, “Tired, don’t want to get up.” She then buried her curly head under the pillow. Janice pulled the covers off Fleur, she guessed that the shock would cause her to wake up properly.
“Jan,” Fleur moaned, “How could you be so mean?”
“I’m thinking of you Fleur,” Janice said silently, “If you don’t get up then Matey will come running.”
Fleur saw where Janice was coming from and proceeded to sit up gingerly, hoping that she wouldn’t be very sick today.
“How are you feeling?” Janice asked anxiously, she realised that it would be hard for her to help Fleur today, when everyone was already up and awake.
Fleur frowning pulled on her dressing gown said, “Alright. I feel a bit sick, but it’s different to what I have been feeling. I feel as if I’m hung over today, I can cope with that.”
Janice nodded, feeling relieved she left Fleur to get dressed and went to get herself ready for the day.
It was still raining heavily up on the Platz, there was no chance that the girls would be able to go out on a walk, and they were beginning to get restless after spending so many days inside. Miss Annersley noticing this announced that all forms would be having a drill in the gym that day. The Sixth’s had a free period after break and instead of being allowed to get on with any extra work or to read they had been scheduled to have their time in the gym then under Miss Burnett. The girls were pleased about this; they needed to burn of some of their excess energy and were looking forward to having exercises on the gym apparatus.
Fleur feeling tired from having very little sleep was not as pleased as the rest of the sixth, if she had had her way then she would have gone back to bed. She paid very little attention to what Miss Burnett was saying, much to the annoyance of that lady, who had a tooth ache to make the matter worse. Fleur usually was good at gym and was able to vault and cartwheel well, in fact it was only Ailie who was as good as she in gym.
Today though Fleur put no effort into what she was doing. At the end of the lesson the girls were supposed to jump up on to vault, summersault over it, on to a trampoline, where they then would perform ten star jumps, before finally cartwheeling around the gym. Fleur not sure what to do, stood there when it came to her turn looking completely dumb. Miss Burnett fast loosing her patience with Fleur told her impatiently what to do, Fleur did what she was told albeit rather half-heartedly. Miss Burnett leaving the room for a few seconds to go and get her whistle, which she had left in her office, did not witness Fleur’s weak cartwheeling attempts and how she had fallen down out of her cartwheel sequence after about five cartwheels. The girls all crowded around Fleur demanding to know if she was ok.
“I’m fine.” Fleur told them rather dazedly.
“Are you sure?” Demanded Lesley.
“Yes.” Fleur said firmly, “Don’t tell Miss Burnett, she’ll only tell Matey and make a fuss.”
The girls agreed, Lesley somewhat reluctantly resolved to keep a close eye on Fleur thinking to her-self that something was not right with her. Luckily for Fleur their lesson ended soon after, the gym activities had tired her greatly.
Janice sitting next to Fleur in the English lesson, which they had next leant over to her and said, “Fleur are you sure you’re alright. You are so pale.”
Fleur stopped looking out of the window and said, “I’m fine Jan, just tired.” Fleur was not be truthful though she was feeling more than just tired, her head was aching, as was her stomach, and she felt all cold and shivery too. Miss Annersley’s entering the room prevented Janice from probing further. Fleur did try to pay attention in the lesson, she realised that her continued lack of effort must be making her stand out but her brain could not remain focused on what was going on. She was so tired, she was using all her energy just to keep her eyes open. Looking outside Fleur could not see much through the heavy rain, the road could just about be seen, she turned away from the window, resolving to watch Miss Annersley and seem as if she was paying attention. Fleur the same thoughts running through her head as had been for the last few weeks, was suddenly pulled back into reality when glancing out of the window she glimpsed a Motor bike speeding up the Platz. Straining her ears to try and hear it, she wondered if it could possibly be Nikolai. She heard the engine at last and realised that it sounded just like his bike, but maybe it was a coincidence, other bikes must make the same noise as his. She hurriedly looked out of the window again as she heard a screeching of brakes. She saw a lorry coming in the other direction, she saw the helmet of the motorcyclist, it was Nikolai’s helmet, she saw the bike swerve to try and miss the lorry but it didn’t. There was an almighty crash, and Fleur saw Nikolai, be flung into the air landing on to the ground a few feet away from the school gates.
All the girls in the class had heard what had happened and when Fleur leapt to her feet and rushed out of the room, none of them tried to stop her them all being in shock. Miss Annersley tried to call her back but Fleur paid no attention, Janice feeling that Fleur should not be on her own hesitated for only a second before rushing out after her.
Miss Annersley quickly told Ailie to go to Miss Dene and tell her to phone the San before following Fleur and Janice out into the rain.

Here's next bit!

Janice paused at the main door, should she go and get a coat? The rain was heavy and cold but the half-stumbling figure of Fleur ahead forced Janice to follow her out into the wet. She was soaked in just half a minute. Her black hair clinging to her face, her feet wet from the puddles she had ran through.
When she arrived at the school gates she found Fleur kneeling next to Nikolai’s motionless body crying bitterly, the lorry driver was standing a close to his truck a worried expression on his face.
“Janice,” Fleur sobbed when she saw her friend, “He can’t be dead, can he?”
Janice looking down at Nikolai thought that he most probably was, however she knelt down and checked his pulse. She held her finger there for what seemed like an age before she suddenly felt it beat.
“He’s alive Fleur!” She said excitedly, “I can feel his pulse.”
Fleur sobs increased on this news she was so relieved.
At this point Miss Annersley arrived on the scene. Bringing with her coats for the two girls, Janice hurriedly put hers on, before turning to Fleur and flinging her coat around her shoulders for her.
“Girls,” She said, “Ambulances from the San are on their way.”
Fleur looked up, she was still crying but she managed to mutter some sort of acknowledgement.
Miss Annersley then proceeded to bring out a blanket and place it around Nikolai; “You haven’t moved him have you?” She asked the two girls, knowing that that could have caused harm.
“No,” Janice answered, seeing that Fleur’s grey face was paying little attention to anything other than Nikolai. “I just checked his pulse. He is alive.”
Miss Annersley nodded, she did not fully know who Nikolai was, she guessed he was Fleur’s boyfriend but she had no idea where he had come from or why he was here. She made her way over to the lorry driver to ask him what had happened and whether he was ok.
Janice crept close to Fleur and put one of her hands in her own, Fleur’s hand was as cold as ice, glancing at her Janice noticed she was shivering. “Fleur, the ambulance will be here in a minute and everything will be fine.”
Fleur nodded and repeated Janice’s last words, “And everything will be fine.” She continued to look at Nikolai, and lay her head on Janice’s shoulder.
Miss Annersley on lookout for the ambulance called to the girls that it had arrived.
“I’m going with him.” Fleur said weakly.
“There might not be room for you, Fleur.” Janice said as Dr. Jack came over along with some people bearing a stretcher. “Come on we’d better get up. We don’t want to be in the way.”
Janice practically had to pull Fleur to her feet, while Miss Annersley hurriedly explained what had happened to Jack Maynard.
“The ground’s moving all funny, Jan.” Fleur moaned, still leaning on to her friend.
“What do you mean Fleur?” Janice asked sharply. “Are you feeling ill?”
“Mmm,” Fleur muttered, “Everything hurts, and it’s all cold and wet. But the pain Jan it hurts.”
Janice frowned to her-self Fleur was not making any sense and it seemed as if she could not stand up on her own. Nikolai had now been loaded on to the ambulance, and Janice heard Jack say to Miss Annersley, “It looks as if he has quite serious internal injuries, it’s hard to say whether he will live or not.” Janice then felt all of Fleur’s weight collapse on her, holding her friend up Janice realised that she was unconscious. Jack Maynard noticed too, and hurried over to Janice. He took Fleur out of Janice’s grip and took hold of her in his arms saying, “She’d better come with us too, I don’t like the look of her.” He then got into the back of the ambulance, which quickly sped off, in the direction of the San.
Miss Annersley noticing Janice’s agonised expression and feeling extremely worried herself said; “We’ll follow the ambulance in my car Janice. We’ll soon find out how Fleur and that boy are.”
Miss Annersley waited until they were safe in the warmth of her car before she turned to Janice and asked her, “Janice was that Fleur’s boyfriend?”
“Yes,” Janice said, wondering if she should tell Miss Annersley about Fleur being pregnant. “That’s Nikolai.”
“Why was he here. Do you know?”
Janice blushing slightly answered, “I think Fleur wanted to see him.”
Miss Annersley was a very shrewd woman and she guessed that Janice was having a battle about whether to tell her something.
“Janice,” She said softly, “Do you know why Fleur collapsed?”
“I…I don’t know if I can say.” Janice stammered.
“Janice,” Miss Annersley said firmly, “If you know something then I strongly suggest you say something. Fleur has just collapsed, this could turn out to be very serious. If you don’t tell us all you know then her condition will only get worse before it gets better.”
Janice was sensible enough to see this as the truth, she hoped Fleur would understand that she had to tell Miss Annersley.
“You won’t go and tell everyone.” She said.
“Only those who have to know will know.” Miss Annersley said quickly.
“Well, Fleur made me swear not to say anything but you’re right now she’s collapsed someone had better know. You see the reason why Fleur wanted to see Nikolai was to tell him that she was pregnant.”
Miss Annersley’s heart reached out to Fleur; she realised now why she had been so vague lately. She started the car and sped off to the San.

Well, the trampolining on its own would have been enough to cause a miscarriage. British Gym guidelines suggest laying off it as soon as you know you're pregnant...

Poor Fleur, how much worse can things get for her? Please Casx, don't let Nikolai die, not now that he's proved that he really does care about Fleur, and it would be just too cruel for him to be killed just outside the school when he'd ridden half way across Europe.

Fleur when she next opened her eyes found herself to be in bed in a room she’d never been in before. It was lightly coloured, with a big window opposite her bed and a chest of drawers against the wall. Next to her bed was a cabinet.
Fleur tried to think why she was here, what had happened. She was feeling tired and groggy still, although she had the impression that she had slept for ages. The door suddenly opened and in walked Miss Annersley carrying a hot drink. Fleur suddenly remembered everything that happened and hastily asked Miss Annersley, “What’s happened to Nikolai? Is he ok?”
Miss Annersley seeing the anxious look on her pupil’s face sat down and answered her quickly, “He’s stable Fleur. He’s had a operation and they’re waiting to see how he responds to that, he may have to have another operation.” Miss Annersley decided to tell Fleur the truth, she would not hide anything from her.
“What was wrong with him?” Fleur asked.
“He had internal bleeding Fleur, and a fracture of the skull.”
Fleur turned pale, with her father a doctor she realised just how serious Nikolai’s injuries were.
“Can I see him please?” She pleaded.
Miss Annersley deciding that this would not be the right time to correct Fleur’s use of grammar said regretfully, “I’m afraid you can’t Fleur.”
“Why not?” Fleur demanded.
“Because the doctors don’t want you to move for a few days.” Miss Annersley said carefully.
“Why?” Fleur said impatiently, “Why am I hear anyway?”
Miss Annersley deciding to tell Fleur what had happened said quickly, “Fleur you collapsed because you were having a miscarriage.”
Fleur looking startled said, “I lost the baby?”
Miss Annersley looking sympathetically at her pupil said, “Yes Fleur.”
Fleur was in shock, the baby was gone, “So I’m not pregnant any more am I?” She said it more to reassure herself rather than because she was naïve.
“No you’re not.”
Fleur to her surprise began to cry, why was she crying she had not wanted the baby. But if Nikolai died then she had lost the part of him that she had helped create. Fleur felt certain that if Nikolai did die then she could never forgive herself for not taking better care of her pregnant body and unborn child. Miss Annersley took Fleur’s hand in her’s and sat there not saying anything, she felt that silence was better than words at this point in time.
“I don’t know why I’m crying,” Fleur said at last. “I didn’t want the baby.”
Miss Annersley said wisely, “Fleur, the last few weeks must have been extremely traumatic for you it is only natural for you to cry. Even though you did not want your baby it was still part of you and it must hurt to loose it when Nikolai is in the state he is.”
Fleur nodded, she was feeling very vulnerable at the moment, her emotions were all over the place.
“Have you told my Dad what happened?” She said at last, realising that he would have to know now.
“He knows your in the San,” Miss Annersley said, “We had to tell him why I’m afraid, we would have left it to you, but he insisted on knowing why. He’s coming out tomorrow, I believe.”
“How long have I been in here?” Fleur asked suddenly, she had the feeling that it was longer than she thought.
“Since yesterday morning.” Miss Annersley said, she did not tell Fleur that she had lost a lot of blood and had been kept under sedation for her own good.
“Then why isn’t he here already?” Fleur said her voice growing fearful.
“He was unable to get any time of work until tomorrow, his hospital is under staffed at the moment. He said though that your Step-Mother will be here today.”
Fleur did not hear this last piece of information she was too upset, she was convinced that her Father was mad with her and that he did not want to see her.
“He doesn’t want to see me does he? He’s cross with me.” Fleur had not wanted to deal with her Father’s disappointment; she hated causing problems for him.
A voice came from the doorway, “Fleur angel, don’t talk like that. You know it’s not true.”
Fleur turned to look at the doorway and saw Dominique standing there, a troubled expression on her face. Fleur held out her arms for her stepmother who took hold of her and held her close to her heart, Fleur crying onto her shoulder. Crying for herself, her lost baby, Nikolai, and for the absence of her Dad. Miss Annersley un-noticed slipped out of the room, leaving Dominique to help Fleur.

I'm at home now so don't have much access to the net Crying or Very sad
Here's next bit of drabble though Laughing

Dominique allowed Fleur to cry for a full five minutes before she released her from her arms and gave her a tissue to wipe her eyes.
“Do you want some water?” She asked her StepDaughter gently.
Fleur nodded her tangles curly head and Dominique poured out some water into a glass. She waited a few moments before saying, “Fleur, you do know what you said about your Father is not true don’t you?”
Fleur just shrugged her small shoulders, she looked so little and white in that hospital bed.
“Well it is not true.” Dominique tried again to get through to Fleur. “He loves you so much. He’s not angry with you about what happened, he understands that these things do occur. He was so anxious about you when we found out that you were here. He would have come sooner but for Dr Maynard saying that you would be fine and the fact that he was scheduled to perform a major operation today and that there was no one else to take it for him.”
Fleur calmed down as she listened to her stepmother’s words. “Daddy’s not cross then, and he still loves me.”
“Nothing could ever happen which would stop your Father from loving you.” Dominique said a tad ruefully, she knew that Fleur was her husbands favourite child but she also realised that she was the child who needed the most love. “As for being cross… well he’s not cross with you.”
“Do you mean he’s cross with Nikolai then?” Fleur said quickly. A grim look appeared across Dominique’s face and Fleur took it to be true. “It’s my fault as much as Nikolai’s. Neither of us thought of protection that time we were simply overcome by the moment.” She blushed slightly discussing her sex life with her StepMother was embarrassing.
“Fleur,” Dominique said trying not to appear anti Nikolai, “Over the summer your Father and I realised that you were probably sleeping with Nikolai, we weren’t happy about that and it was I think subconsciously one of the reasons why we sent you to school. Not to punish you but to try and stop you from growing up so fast, you were only sixteen Fleur and we wanted to protect you from the parties, alcohol and sex, which you were involved in. We’re not against you going out and enjoying your-self but you were out almost every night last summer and we were so worried about you. We were worried that you and Nikolai would grow careless, and that you would become pregnant, which is what has happened anyway. Fleur both your Father and love you dearly and we want you to lead a life which you would be proud of. We don’t think that you would be proud of a life where you ended up being a teenage mother.”
Fleur nodded she understood what Dominique was saying, “You know though that however much I want to I can’t change. I like my life too much to change it completely. The baby has scared me though and I will make absolutely one hundred per cent sure that Nikolai and I are responsible in the future. Anyway the school ensures that the only chance I get to go to parties is during the holidays or I occasionally go with my Geneva cousins to one.” Fleur paused she wanted to make sure that Nikolai would not get all the blame. “Daddy won’t be really angry with Nikolai will he?”
Dominique taking Fleur’s hand said, “No he won’t be, at least not when he sees the state Nikolai is in.”
Fleur paled, “He will be ok won’t he?”
“I don’t know.” Dominique said simply, “We’ll just have to wait and see what happens.”
Fleur feeling much older than she had ever done before looked at Dominique and said, “Thank you Dominique, for everything.” She then clung to her stepmother hoping against hope that Nikolai would live.

Even if Nikolai is all right, perhaps this will change Fleur's relationship with him too much.

You must have been very busy this week Cazx, to not be able to post more drabble. I refuse to think maybe you are just being cruel.

No, we've been too nice about her drabble for her to be cruel to us.

Here's the next bit! Sorry you all had to wait so long for it!

Thierry Matieux was sitting next to his sleeping daughter’s bedside. He had been sitting there for the past two hours, just watching her. Fleur was still pale; all the crying she had done had not helped her. She spent a lot of time sleeping, trying to catch up on all the sleep she had missed. Fleur stirred suddenly and seemed to mutter something in her sleep. Thierry moved closer to Fleur, as she slowly opened her eyes and yawned.
“Dad.” She said, speaking in French, as her eyes fell upon her Father. “I’m so sorry Dad.”
“I know sweetie pie.” Thierry answered her, as he took hold of her hands. “It’s all water under the bridge now. We’ve both made mistakes but there is nothing we can do to change what has happened.”
Fleur smiled for the first time in days and said, “Thank-you Daddy, for being so nice and understanding. I was so afraid you would be mad with me, that’s how other girls Father’s would have reacted.”
“Fleur,” Thierry said laughing, “You should know by now that I am too soft to be mad with you more than every few years.”
Fleur suddenly remembered Nikolai and clutching on too her Father’s hand asked, “Dad do you think Nikolai will pull through?”
Thierry frowned he knew he had to tell Fleur the truth but was she strong enough to hear it?
“I’ve seen him,” He said at last, “And I think he should have another operation now. But most of the other doctors believe that we should wait a few days in case he gets stronger. I believe though that if they wait then it will be to late.”
Fleur took this news much more calmly tan her Father had expected her to. “But they should listen to you Dad,” She said rationally, “You’re a specialist surgeon, they’re T.B specialists. Surely you know better than them.”
If the situation had been different then Thierry would have laughed over Fleur’s indignant words. “Fleur remember that these doctors deal with climbing accidents all the time, they probably believe that they are right, and who knows maybe they are.”
“When will they decide what to do?” Fleur asked hoping that they would decide soon.
“Sometime today, Nikolai’s parents are here and they will have the final say.”
Fleur nodded solemnly the fact that Nikolai’s parents were here had made her think.
“Dad,” She began tentatively, “Does my Mother know I’m here.”
“Yes Elaine knows you’re here.” Her Father answered wondering what Fleur was thinking.
“Did she want to come and see me.”
“Yes but I thought it would upset you so I said she shouldn’t. Was that right?”
“Oh yes it was. But one day maybe I’d like to see her. She is my Mother after all so I suppose I should try and get to know her. You don’t mind do you?”
“Not at all Fleur, after all it is your life not mine.”
Fleur despite still worrying about Nikolai felt a lot more at peace in her own mind than she had done so for a long, long time. She felt secure in the knowledge that she had her Father and Dominique’s love and support and that she would have it forever.

Hello, I'm a very newbie but I've been lurking for a bit and I have to say that this is a beautiful story Cazx. You've made Flearu so real I'm really worried about her.

#273:  Author: CazxLocation: Swansea/Bristol PostPosted: Tue Mar 30, 2004 8:09 pm

Hi Mora! Glad you like the drabble Very Happy
Here's the next bit!

It was two days later. Fleur was sitting in a chair gazing wistfully out of the window, blankets pulled securely around her. Janice had stood in the doorway for over a minute before Fleur realised her friend was there.
“Janice,” Fleur exclaimed smiling, “How are you here?”
“Miss Annersley said I was to come and see you. She thought you’d be bored. Sybil drove me up, she’s going to come and join us after she’s shown Malvina off to everyone.” Janice told Fleur as she pulled up a chair and sat next to Fleur.
“Oh what fun!” Fleur was truly delighted.
“Is Nikolai going to pull through then?” Janice asked, she had not heard how he was getting along for a few days, but she felt the news must be good, as Fleur was so happy.
“Yes.” Fleur beamed, “Didn’t you know? But how awful for you! I was so worried, but Daddy won in the end and they operated. He regained consciousness yesterday, although they won’t let me see him until tomorrow at the earliest. They say we’d only be a bad influence for each other at the moment.”
“Oh I am so glad for you Fleur.” Janice said sincerely, she could not imagine Fleur without Nikolai.
“I couldn’t help but blame myself, at first you know.” Fleur went on, “But Nikolai’s Mum told me I was being stupid blaming myself and that it wasn’t my fault at all. She said it was just an accident.”
“Well of course it was an accident,” Janice agreed, “The whole thing was an accident.”
Fleur became thoughtful for a moment and taking hold of Janice’s hand said, “Janice, I haven’t said thank you. You did so much for me and I am so grateful. If there is ever a time when you need me then you know I’ll always be here for you.”
Janice squeezed Fleur’s hand and said, “You know it was nothing Fleur, I’m your friend, and I only did what any of your friends would do.”
“Fleur smiled at Janice and said, “Thank-you all the same though Jan. Will you do one more favour for me though? Could you please write to Holly and tell her everything that has happened since she last wrote to me. I sent her a short note but I know she’ll want to know more. I’m not allowed to write long letters at the moment.” Fleur frowned, “Honestly I’m being treated like an invalid, which I’m not!”
Janice agreed to write to Holly that very night and as she did this Sybil walked in, looking considerably happier than she had been the last time Fleur had seen her.
“Fleur dear,” She said holding her hands out to Fleur, “How are you?”
Fleur smiled at Sybil and said, “Oh I’m feeling much better now thank-you. I’m so bored here though, but here I must stay for at least the next few days. How are you though and Malvina?”
“Malvina and I are fine, thanks.” Sybil said as her sapphire blue eyes studied Fleur’s young but old face. “We’re going to go and live in London, you know. I have some money saved away and I’m going to use it to rent a flat and go to college. It’s going to be hard at first but I’m going to do it. It’s my dream and what Alex would have wanted.”
Fleur and Janice smiled at each other they were glad that Sybil had found this courage.
“You know though,” Sybil continued, “I could never have reached this decision if it had not been for you two, Ailie and Judy. You four made me realise that my life is not over and that it is time to live my own life and not the one my parents want me to lead.”
“I’m glad we helped.” Fleur said quietly, “But we didn’t do much you know, we just listened.”
Sybil looked thoughtful for a moment before saying, “Yes but what I needed was for someone to listen to me, and no one apart from you four and Alex when he was alive had been willing to do that. Neither my Mother or Josette had been willing to.” Sybil then turned to Janice and said, “Now what is the latest mischief in school? Auntie Jo shouted something about it as I left telling me to ask you.”
Janice began to laugh; “It’s Felicity and Lucy Peter’s crowd that started it. They decided that their bedtime was too early, so they began to create games for after lights out. Their Dorm prefect is Samaris Davies and she’s been ill in the San. Matey thought they could be trusted to behave but was she wrong!” Janice began to laugh hysterically.
“Why what did they do?” Fleur asked her eyes gleaming.
“They decided to put their bed covers over their heads and wonder around the dorm, trying not to bump into each other. If they did then they were out of the game and had to go back to bed. Whoever was left at the end was the winner. This went on for two or three nights before they got ambitious and invited people from other dorms to join in. Only of course they made more noise and they began to chase each other too. Matey heard the noise and went to investigate. She was standing in the doorway observing the scene when Felicity who was being chased by Jean Morris ran straight into her at full force and knocked her flat on to her back.” By this point all three were laughing hopelessly and when a nurse popped her head around the door to see what was wrong she just shrugged her shoulders and walked out, after having been demanding to know what was so funny for at least a few minutes. The girls had not been able to answer her, as they were unable to stop laughing for long enough to tell her. Each time they thought they had controlled themselves they would imagine strong wiry Matron being knocked down by tiny dainty Felicity Maynard!

I'm glad to hear that Nikolai is getting better. VERY pleased with Sybil's decision to live her own life. It was so nice that she gave credit to the 4 friends for listening to her. I think Fleur and all of them will come out of this much stronger. It's really good and you are making me care about what happens to them!

Here's a bit more, warning the ending is really cheesy! Embarassed

“Oh my poor Angel!” Were Fleur’s first remarks on seeing Nikolai again. His appearance greatly alarmed Fleur and she could not stop her-self from crying. He was paler than ever, his eyes were not as bright as usual, though they had become brighter now they had seen Fleur, bandages surrounded his head, there was no sign of the hair which Fleur loved so much.
“It’s not as bad as it looks Fleur.” He said smiling at her and taking hold of her hand.
“I’m sorry though that you’re like this, it’s all my fault.” Fleur needed to apologise to him; she had to get it off her chest.
“It’s not your fault Fleur.” Nikolai said sharply. “It’s my fault you got pregnant and Katya’s fault that I had the accident.”
“How’s it Katya’s fault?” Fleur asked in confusion before quickly adding, “It’s not your fault I got pregnant anyway, both of us were equally to blame.”
Nikolai merely shrugged at this statement, he believed that it was he who was to blame. “Katya,” he eventually said, “was in one of her weird moods, you know how she can get jealous and depressive, and decided to take it out on me. She hid that letter you sent me and didn’t tell me you phoned. The first I heard that something was wrong was when the triplets threw one of their shindigs.”
At this Fleur interrupted him wailing, “Holly had a shindig without me! I’m going to kill her.”
Nikolai grinned, “Yeah they did! Anyway Holly kept on giving me evil looks all night. You know how she can make you feel like a piece of dirt that’s stuck on her shoe. I eventually asked her what was her problem with me, and she started telling me that I was a cold hearted, insensitive bastard, who had never lost his male slut ways. It was quite an experience seeing Holly so mad, you know she’s usually so peaceful and gentle. I was in shock for a while, before I could actually ask her what it was that I had done. She gave me a scathing look and started going on at me again.”
“Holly sounds so worked up!” Fleur said grinning, “I wish I’d been there.”
“It wasn’t a nice experience, it was very traumatic in fact,” Nikolai said grinning at the memory, “She eventually realised I didn’t know what was going on and calmed down and told me what was wrong. I rushed home and looked for the letter. Katya then appeared with it, I shouted at her, she shouted back, I then got on my bike and drove here. If I’d had the letter sooner then you know I would have been here ages ago.”
“I know.” Fleur said as she kissed his hand. “Have you and Katya made up yet? She must be feeling awful.”
“She’s back home with friends.” Nikolai said shortly. “I’ll phone her in a few days. I could have never forgiven her if something really bad had happened to you, as it is I’m having trouble forgiving her now.”
Fleur did not say anything more about Katya, she didn’t want to annoy Nikolai and she realised that he was very angry with his sister still.
“I’m so glad you’re going to be ok.” She said, “I could have never forgiven myself if you had died.”
“Why? It wasn’t your fault, the accident I mean.”
“I know. But the miscarriage was, I didn’t look after myself, as I should have done. And if you and your baby had died then I would have felt awful and wouldn’t have known what to do.”
Nikolai nodded, he understood what Fleur meant. “I love you more than ever.” He told her, “I never thought that you could forgive me for not coming sooner so easily, I’d have thought you’d be mad with me.”
“It wasn’t your fault, so there was nothing to forgive.” Fleur told him, as she remembered how angry and disillusioned she had been with Nikolai the day before he came. “Anyway,” She said lightly, “I love you so much it hurts.”
Nikolai laughed, before wincing at the pain. He knew life for him and Fleur would never be as it had been before again. It would be similar but not exactly the same. In the space of a few days they had grown older, but the important thing was that their love for each other had grown with them.

Cazx - is that the end, or did you just mean the end of that part would be cheesy (which it wasn't incidentally).
That was a lovely part, and it all seems very much like what could have happened.
Thank you for making them happy. Smile *Smiles in contentment*

No that wasn't the end! But this is the last but one posting!

A week later Fleur went back to school. She had spent a few days with her family in Geneva after being discharged from the San. She had spent her time relaxing, catching up with Magali, and going out on drives into the countryside with her Father, Dominique, and one year old Sasha. Before being taken back to school she had visited Nikolai, he was still in the San but progressing quickly. The doctors thought that in two weeks time he would be well enough to travel back home.
Fleur had arrived back to school in the middle of afternoon lessons. She made her way through the empty corridors towards Miss Annersley’s study nervously. She did not know how she would be welcomed.
Miss Annersley was expecting Fleur and she put down her marking as Fleur entered the room.
“Welcome back Fleur.” She said with a gentle smile. “I hope you are feeling better about everything now.”
Fleur blushing slightly answered, “Yes, thank-you Miss Annersley.”
Miss Annersley sensed that Fleur was full of nerves and decided that it would be for the best if she took control of the conversation.
“Don’t worry about the work you have missed Fleur. We understand that you can’t make it up all at once, besides your health is far more important to us than your work.”
Fleur nodding said, “I will catch up as fast as I can though, Miss Annersley, I don’t like being behind. And I was wondering could I re-do some of my essay’s from this term over Easter? I know they weren’t very good, I just couldn’t concentrate on anything.”
“Well you can’t re-do them all Fleur.” Miss Annersley said thoughtfully, “But you can do two or three of them if you want, you can’t do too much though after all the holidays aren’t a time for work.”
“Thanks.” Was all Fleur said before adding somewhat hurriedly, “What do the other girls know of why I was in the San?”
Miss Annersley seeing that this was worrying Fleur quickly told her, “They were told that you fainted from the shock of what you had seen and that you also had caught a nasty chill from being out in the rain.” Miss Annersley did not mention the fact that although the younger girls had accepted this, some of the older girls had shown signs of being suspicious.
Fleur smiled gratefully at her Head Mistress, “Thank-you again, I didn’t think you would have told them the truth but I just wanted to make sure.”
Miss Annersley smiled back at Fleur, “Now unless there is anything else you wish to say then I suggest you go and report to Matron before she comes and finds you!”
“Well actually there is one thing.” Fleur began hesitantly.
“Yes?” Miss Annersley questioned raising her eyebrows slightly.
“I just wanted to apologise for everything. I know I haven’t been setting a very good example to the younger girls. But I am truly sorry for the way I have behaved, and that included how I have treated you since when my Mother came to see me. I had no right to take my anger out on you, all I can say is that I feel terrible about it and I hope you will forgive me.” Fleur knew she was rambling by this point, she just wanted to make sure she had apologised for everything.
“I forgive you Fleur.” Miss Annersley told her smiling.
Fleur grinning in delight exclaimed, “Oh Thank-you Miss Annersley! You know I am really going to try and become a real Chalet girl from now on!”

Thanks Cazx, looks like it's all going to end happily, unless you have something evil planned for the final post.
I can't see Fuer ever becoming a total CS girl though, she's already been through too much for that to happen, but I think she will try to do her best, and she has widened Ailie & Co.'s horizons, so I think that on the whole she and the schol have been good for another.

It's that line! Although I am glad she's matured enough to say it and she does seem to be on her way to being a real CS girl. It can't have been easy to apologise to Miss Annersley like that.

Very sad it's ending so soon Cazx, I've been loving this drabble.

You'll get the hang of it Lisa-Lou. I'd like an epilogue to this story set some years in the future, so we can see if Fleur and Nikolai end up together for good.

Cazx I cannot believe we are nearly at the end of this story. I have that horrible feeling you have when near the end of a good book, wanting to know what happens to the characters, but not wanting the book to end as I am also wanting to know what happens to them after the book ends.

This has been such a lovely story thank you for writing it.

Not asking for more as that will only hasten the end (though I do want to know what happens)!

Here is the last post! Glad you all have enjoyed reading it Laughing

Epilogue
It was a warm summer evening when Janice Chester, head girl of the Chalet School, sat down in the schools sunken garden for the last time as a pupil of the school she had grown up with. Her three best friends in the school were with her, Ailie Russell the schools games prefect, Judy Willoughby Second prefect, and Fleur Matieux editor of the Chaletian.
“I can’t believe that this is our last night at school.” Janice bemoaned, “Where did all the years go?”
“I thought that these past two years would drag so slowly,” Fleur put in, “But they haven’t, they’ve gone so quickly.”
“It feels like only yesterday when I was asked to sheepdog you.” Ailie remarked.” But its strange, at the same time I feel as if I’ve known you longer.”
All four were silent for a few moments, thinking of the first days of Fleur at the school.
“Oh don’t let’s sit here in silence!” Judy suddenly exclaimed, “We have to plan this summer. We have so many things to do and see before Fleur goes to Cambridge, Janice goes to art school and Ailie and I do God knows what.”
“I actually know what I am going to do.” Ailie said indignantly.
“Oh and what’s that then?” The other three chorased over the past year they had experienced Ailie constantly changing her mind over her future career.
“I’m going to go and live with Sybil and Vina.” Ailie smirked at her friends, “I’ll get a job in London, I don’t know what type yet though. But Sybs said as there was room for me in her flat then she’d be delighted to have me.”
“I’m so jealous!” Fleur wailed, “You three will all be in London and so will Nikolai and Christian. I’ll be coming to see you every weekend you do realise!”
“Oh great, how thrilling for us.” Janice said sarcastically before laughing at Fleur’s frowning face, “Take that expression off your face Fleur, anyone would think you didn’t want to leave, and we know that’s not the case!”
“Actually contrary to popular opinion,” Fleur began haughtily, “I have actually enjoyed most of my time here once I got used to it.”
“You are used to the Chalet School then!” Judy teased, “Then why do you still shock us all, when you know the school would not approve!”
Fleur blushed, “I suppose you’re talking about my highlights and the sale there. Well I never knew that my hair would go platinum blonde and as for the sale I only wanted to spread the music of KaiserTsar. This time next year Miss Annersley will be proud that they sold some of their first records here!”
“Yes but will they be as proud?” Ailie said laughing.
KaiserTsar had three months previously gained a record deal. They had recorded an album and had the first month of summer off before they embarked on a promotional tour. With their combination of genuine musical ability and rugged good looks they were guaranteed to take the world by storm.
“Anyway,” Fleur said ignoring Ailie, “I think that on the whole I’ve been a good prefect.”
“Oh you have,” Janice said soothingly, “You handled all that trouble with Katya wonderfully, none of us could get her to listen!”
“Excuse me!” Judy butted in, “But we still haven’t discussed the summer holidays.”
“What is there to discuss?” Ailie asked, “I thought it was all planned out. We go home for a week, and then we have three weeks travelling over Europe before the boys go back. Then we go to Italy for two weeks and after that its back home. I can’t wait to go it’s going to be so exciting, I still can’t believe I can go! You know it was Sybil who persuaded them to let me go, I know I am eighteen and don’t really need their permission but I still couldn’t have gone if it hadn’t been for Sybs.”
“I love Sybil!” Fleur exclaimed, “Christian would have been no fun without you! Holly says that all him and Nikolai do at home is mope around counting down the days until we return.”
The girls laughed, they certainly did have moping moments but not all the time, they were too busy for that.
Janice glancing at her watch sighed, “Come on its time we were getting ready for bed, we have a long day tomorrow.”
The girls stood up and looked around at their school, they were all sad to be leaving. From tomorrow onwards they would be no longer schoolgirls, they would be seen as women. They loved the Chalet School dearly and were upset that they would no longer be pupils there. It was the end of an era, an era which they did not want to leave.

Wonderful Cazx! I've really enjoyed this story - a believable and totally different lead character and a chance to see how she and the CS both had such a good influence on each other!

Looking forward to your next story!

I loved that all the way through, Cazx! You brought the CS into the 60s without changing it's essential character.

I was also chuffed to see Sybil again and such a nice and mature Sybil!

Thanks for a great story Cazx. I agree with Jennie, Sybil was so likable in this as were the four girls. Can't wait to read more of your work.

Cazx this has been utterly brilliant - I have loved every page of it & am really sad that it has finished, even though it finished in such a lovely way

Cazx so sad this has finished. It has been such a wonderfully entertaining story. I am so pleased it ended happily and traditionally but yet differently. All the characters became so mature yet stayed true to the school.

Loved it all.

Cazx, this has been an absolutely brilliant story.
*sniffs because it's over, and also because I have only 5 weeks left of being a schoolgirl too*

What I liked was that the CS influenced Fleur, but she brought it up to date.

Aww, this has been great! I'm sorry to see it end, but it's an amazing drabble! And so realistically written. I mean, I can acutally understand everything Fleur goes through. 'Twas a fantastic read, Cazx! Very Happy

I'm going to try and put it in the Sarah Denny Library if anyone wants to read it again!
There are also two plot bunnies nibbiling away at sequels to this!

Oh that was so beautiful! Only just caught up.

Don't you just feel now, that you've left the chalet school and are leaving your friends and stuff? I feel so totally connected with it! Thanks so much. Very Happy

ETA: Indulge the bunnies! *sneakily holds out carrots behind back to entice them!*
