OK so here is my craaazy idea- this only works though if Margot never definately takes her orders which I don't think technically she does.
What if, with some major time shifts, Margot was actually Maria- seeing as her name in Austria is that equivilent. Then, she could go before her taking of ordersto be a governess of seven children, fall in love with the lovely captain and doing so choir-boy like singing with a guitar at the same time. Oh the joy.

Of course, being a good Chalet School girl, Margot would have to persuade the Captain to send the seven children to the Chalet School ("Darling, haven't you ever heard of a delightful little thing called boarding school?" Oh sorry, that was the evil Baroness) where, having been brought up to instant unquestionning obedience they would all immediately be made form prefects and head girl, even the boys.

Actually I keep on seeing Joey as Maria, the 'wanting to be maiden aunt and getting the von Trapps'

Captain marries Baroness (since CS Maria is still too young to show up), and children go to CS until such time as Baroness meets a sticky end (I'm sure Rachel will oblige), leaving Captain available once more. Could Maria be Joey, golden voice and all that? After all, in RL the von Trapps had children on top of the seven.

Naah, that would mean giving up Jack.... and all the potential interactions between the two long families.

Surely nobody would want to inflict Joey as a MOTHER-IN-LAW upon poor Captain Von Trapp?!??!

What did he ever do to deserve that??

It would actually make sense for Margot to be Maria - allowing for some weird time-machine type arrangement. After all, you only have to listen to the songs:

"Perhaps I had a wicked childhood; perhaps I had a miserable youth; but somewhere in my youth or childhood, I must have done something good....."

and so on and so forth. Sums Margot up nicely, no?

HOWEVER I have to raise a protest at this whole idea, diverting though it may be. TSoM is perfect as it is - I certainly wouldn't have survived a very depressing RL week without it!
