Just thought I'd start this up again. These rest can be found here.

-----

Lilac dormitory, which was up several flights of stairs, turned out to be a large, airy room with eight cubicles, separated with crisp curtains decorated with lilac blooms.

“We turned this room out in the last holidays,” Matron informed them. “We didn’t have enough room for all the girls this term. There’s enough space for the three of you, here.” Buffy, Anya and Dawn approached the cubicles diffidently, until Buffy threw back one of the curtains to reveal the bed chair and bureau that furnished each cubicle.

“Well, it seems adequate,” remarked Anya. “But the beds are small. When Xander and-“ Before she could finish her sentence, Buffy had grabbed her arm and Dawn had started asking loudly where the bathroom was. Matron looked at the girls suspiciously, but pointed Dawn in the direction of the bathroom.

“I take it you don’t have much in the way of clothes?” she asked, inspecting Buffy’s leather trousers with a disapproving eye.

“Just what we’re wearing,” replied Buffy, feeling oddly self-conscious. “We had a slight – incident.”

“Well, I’m sure we can manage something,” Matey said briskly. “I’m sure one of the girls or mistresses will have something suitable.”

“I’m not wearing school uniform,” stated Anya definitely. “There are some levels I won’t sink to.” Buffy rolled her eyes, and turned to Matron.

“Please excuse my friend. She’s not well-versed in the ways of…people.”

“Hmm,” was Matron’s only response. “Well, I’ll leave you ladies to wash and find some clothes for you.” She left the room, and thought she heard the words ‘No school uniform!’, oddly muffled, floating after her.

I never saw this the first time round but I'm very gald you've started it again. Anya could be a real liability in a situation like this... actually all of them could be with the possible exception of Giles.

Buffy was in the middle of trying to explain to Anya that, in light of their current situation, discretion was the better part of valour (or, in blunter terms, no talking about sex) when the dormitory door swung open and a girl walked in. Dressed in the same blue skirt, cream blouse and crimson and silver striped tie that the two elder girls had been wearing, she was several years younger. She stopped several paces in and gawped at Buffy, Anya and Dawn.

“Hey!” said Dawn with a little wave.

“Hello,” returned the girl rather weakly, then seemed to recover herself. “I say, who are you? Does Matey know you’re here? Cos she’ll have words to say if she doesn’t. Are you new girls?”

“Erica Standish! What are you doing out of lessons?” Behind Erica, Len Maynard had entered the room, a pile of clothes over her arm. Erica flushed, and waved a blue rag at the Head Girl.

“I spilled ink on my hanky, Len, so Miss Armitage sent me to get another.” Len inspected the proferred handkerchief.

“I’ll say you did!” she exclaimed with a grin. “I never saw such a mess in my life! Here, give it to me; it’s not fit for anything. Got another? Now, scram, kiddo!” Erica, a fresh handkerchief shoved in her pocket, scrammed accordingly, and Len swung the door closed behind her. “Some of those Middles are the absolute end,” she said cheerfully, dumping her armful on the nearest bed. “Keeping them clean is no joke. Anyway, Matey asked me to find some dec- er, some clothes for you. This is for you, Miss Summers.” She pulled out a scarlet velvet dress with a dainty lace collar and handed it to Buffy, who took it rather gingerly. “I nabbed it from Ted; she’s about your size. Undies as well – Matey said you didn’t have a thing.” The next dress was given to Anya, a green wool affair donated by a girl called Eve Hurrell. The last a no-frills creation in navy blue, which Len tossed to Dawn. “Courtesy of Anne Lambert, one our Seniors. I tried to get one from Jack, her younger sister, who’s more your height, but she only has one decent dress, and she needs something to wear to church!” Having distributed her largesse, Len disappeared again, leaving the three girls clutching dresses. Anya held hers at arm’s length.

“It’s not a uniform,” she said, gratified.

“I’d-a thought Xander would’ve liked you in a school uniform,” said Dawn, idly, pulling off her sweater and t-shirt.

“Dawn!” Buffy stopped in the middle of the same process and glared at her younger sister, who just shrugged.

“Jeez, Buffy, it’s not like either of them is big on the not-talking!” Anya proved her point by debating the benefits of school uniform as a fetish to nobody in particular, and Buffy gave in. Standing in bra and knickers, she gazed dubiously at the “undies” Len had given her.

“How do you suppose these go together?” Dawn fiddled with them, then yipped as the elastic snapped back on her. Anya awoke from her fantasy, and began pulling on the underwear.

“It’s perfectly simple,” she said.

“Yeah, when you actually wore this stuff, like, a century ago,” muttered Dawn, copying Anya. She looked down. “Sheesh, I look like Madonna.” Anya looked blank. Buffy laughed.

“Hey, pointy’s in this season!”

OK, I have to say I have no idea where this is going...

-----

Once suitably clad in the donated dresses, Buffy, Dawn and Anya stood uncertainly, wondering what to do next.

“I wonder how Giles and Xander are getting on,” said Dawn, suddenly.

“Well, this looks a pretty tweedy kinda place,” said Buffy. “I bet Giles feels right at home.”

“I hope there aren’t any sex-crazed little schoolgirls running around here,” said Anya, looking fierce. “They better not try and have sex with my boyfriend!” Buffy choked.

“I – I don’t really think they’re big on that sort of thing here, Anya,” she said, rather weakly.

“I’m just saying,” replied Anya, with a shrug.

“Do you suppose anyone is going to come and get us?” asked Dawn, who was getting a little tired of Anya’s twin obsessions with sex and money.

“I guess so,” said Buffy. “I mean, unless they’ve locked us in here and plan for us to starve!” Dawn grinned.

“At least we’re not on a hellmouth!” They laughed. Then remembered that they were, in fact, fifty years in the past standing on a centre of mystical convergence. Then made a rush for the door.

Wrenching it open with unnecessary force, Buffy heaved a sigh of relief.

“It wasn’t locked.”

“Of course it wasn’t,” said a curious voice. “Why should it be?” Looking up, Buffy saw another girl in her late teens, wearing the same uniform as the others. She was slightly built, with long dark hair, dark eyes, and a pale complexion, and looked oddly familiar.

“We’re a little…spooked,” Dawn said.

“Spooked? Oh, at getting lost? I’ve never heard that before. Yes, Len said she and Ted found you out on the Platz. I’m her sister – Len’s, I mean. My name’s Con Maynard. It’s time for Abendessen. That’s dinner,” she added, recognising all too well the blank looks her statement received. “You can have privately if you like, Matey says, or come to the Speisesaal – dining room – and have it with the rest of the school.” Buffy shrugged.

“We might as well come along,” she said. Con led the way down a number of corridors and stairs, until they came to a set of double doors, standing ajar. Con pushed one open, and the four girls walked in. The rest of the school was already seated, and there was a general rustle as girls turned to look at the newcomers.

“”Don’t mind them,” Con muttered, as the wound her way to the large table at the head of the room, where the staff were sitting. To Buffy’s relief, Giles and Xander were already seated – though the school seemed harmless enough, appearances were often deceiving. Con pointed out the three vacant seats, then slipped away to her own table.

Buffy, Anya and Dawn sat down, bowed their heads at Grace, and then shared expressions of relief with Giles and Xander as all five settled down to their meal.

“It is very good of you to put us up, Miss Annersley,” said Giles, helping himself to potatoes.

“You’re quite welcome, Mr Giles,” the Head Mistress replied graciously.

“How on earth did you manage to get stuck up here anyway?” asked another mistress.

“Well, we..” Giles broke off, floundering slightly. The Scooby Gang rolled their eyes. Yet again, they witnessed Giles’ attempts at covering up fail miserably.

“We were hiking up to meet some friends, but lost our backpack somewhere, and then got lost ourselves,” explained Buffy easily.

“Rotten bad luck,” sympathised the mistress. “I’m Nancy Wilmot, by the way. Senior Maths.” Xander gave an exaggerated shudder, and Nancy laughed. “Not your subject?”

“Only if the Torture and Total Humiliation class is full,” Xander said. “I still have nightmares.”

“Yes, he does,” added Anya helpfully. “I do, too, but mostly that Giles comes back from England and takes over the store. Or about bunnies.” There wasn’t much that could be said to this, but the mistresses of the Chalet School were made of stern stuff.

“You own a shop, Mr Giles?” asked Miss Annersley.

“Y-yes, a sort of gift shop affair in California. I don’t really have much to do with it now but…”

“Giles lives in England now,” interrupted Anya. “I run the store. I’m very good at it.”

“Yes, you are, honey,” said Xander, patting her hand. “So, how come there’s an English school in Switzerland?” Giles and Buffy exchanged looks of relief as the conversation moved into less worrying channels.

Ooh, someone explain the confusion and put everyone out of their misery, the poor mites!

In Buffy, the gang are commonly refered to as the Scooby Gang cos they go around beating up vamp's and things... Anyway, that's what Liss meant!

I was *thinking* about explaining it at some point Wink

except I couldn't actually come up with an adequate explanation that made sense!

I did guess it might just be a reference to Buffy & co, but what is so wrong with the idea of Shaggy and Scooby showing up to help out too?!?!?

There you go Liss, I'm sure you can incorporate that idea too!

Don't get excited - there's no more story! Just to say that don't get your hopes up over my ever finishing this one. The X-Men story will heopfully be finished because I know what's going to happen.
