I decided to see how much my CS collection would be worth (just the main series - complete, mixture of HBs and PBs) so spent an hour on ABE and took the cheapest price of the equivilant version of my copy of each book - in total to replace my collection I'd have to pay £1,413. (plus postage)
When I told my husband he immediately said 'you didn't pay that much for it did you?' so worked out how much i'd spent (not including the ones I'd brought then sold on when replaced with hardbacks) and I've spent just under £550 - so not a bad increase - but a lot of my pbs I did get when they came out
(My husband also noticed the £90 on chalet books that had come out of my bank account and all he said was 'they'd better be rare ones' -HBs of three go, trials & theodora so all massacred ones - can't wait for them to get here)

I too often look at ABE, but I find they are way overpriced due to the cost of selling through them, (same with Amazon) I recently spent ages doingthe same thing with 'completed items' on ebay, only for someone to sell a complete collection the very next day. d'oh!

ps, it's priceless anyway,lol.
I'm considering selling my only 2 hardbacks to finance our holiday, but i shall replace them with s/b asap afterwards.
I have bought most of my collection relatively recently and I am still too scared to go see how much I spent.
only bad thing was, when I went to read 'barbara' for the first time, I discovered pages 9-12 were missing!! (the part where prunella is first described)

amazon aren't too expensive, though, but if you get the HBs anywhere is expensive...

Well, most of them are, although the first dozen books or so are not that bad...

humph, what do you define as not so bad for the first 12 in HB? Sad

under £20 for HBs? lucky if we find that for rare PBs! When I see HBs for sale they're about £80 at a start!

Not for the early ones - I got a first of school at for £13 including postage off ebay (admittedly it wasn't advertised as a first but the photo gave it away)

I just put my 2 hardbacks up on ebay reading I put a relatively high reserve on them both probably subconsciously hoping they wouldnt sell, but one of them has reached it already. I guess I'm glad, kinda.
