Silence

I appear to have had a small, very persistent pink bunny nipping around my ankles since Sunday night (yes, that would be Clara) and as I'm in pre-holiday wind down today this is the result. With many thanks to Liz, Nell & Ally who I have been wailing at all morning until I got beyond the first two lines Laughing

Il y a des silences qui disent beaucoup (There are silences which say so much) ~ Michel Berger

I love the sound of silence. I love to just be able to sit somewhere, anywhere, surrounded by nature and silence. The kind of silence where you daren’t even breathe in case you disturb it. It puts things back in perspective as well and then it really doesn’t matter how bad things seem.

I love those first moments at the end of term after everyone has left when the silence is overwhelmingly deafening, when all the trials and tribulations of the term fall away like a bad dream on waking.

I love those final moments of the holidays before everyone arrives when the silence is comforting having been my constant companion in the run up to it allowing me those precious moments to gather my thoughts on what might be.

It’s hard to find silence in term time, always one thing after another wishing that I could split myself into at least two to be in all the places that I am needed at once. I don’t begrudge it; it’s been my life for so long that I can hardly imagine it any other way. I don’t think I’d want it any other way.

I just think that sometimes they forget that their headmistress is, after all, only human.

Thanks, Pim. Is it definitely Hilda, though? Could it have been Mademoiselle Lepattre or Madge even?

I think it's Hilda - but it doesn't matter really does it? It's the idea that's important...
Thanks Pim.

I can relate to this just now - I work in a school office and today, all the teachers and students have gone to rehearse for our annual rewards evening. they left at lunchtime and right now there's only four of us left in school - such a lovely silence!!!! Very Happy

Lovely Pim -think it's Hilda - she mentions having done the job for a while - but it could apply to anyone.

Thanks.
