A new venue for the Gathering?

Wasn't entirely sure whether to put this here or in the Gathering bit... It was Ally's comment in the procrastinatory thread that inspired this - hope you don't mind, Ally!

“It’s OK, everyone, it’s all sorted out now!” Thus Vikki, with a sigh of relief, to the gathered pre-Gathering Gatherers’ Committee.

Vikki had spent most of the week on the phone to various hostels after her original booking for the Summer(ish) Gathering had had to be cancelled following a major explosion centred on Milton Keynes (the police had detained the committee of the Architectural Appreciation Society for questioning). It had been a hard task trying to find somewhere suitable at short notice, but it looked like this was the perfect substitute.

“The woman who runs the lodge – a Mrs Evans – seems really nice: very cheerful and capable-sounding. I did check if it mattered that we’d all be arriving at different times, but she said she’s used to being flexible and there wouldn’t be a problem.”

“How about catering? What facilities are there?” asked Carolyn.
“There’s a huge kitchen, so we’ll be fine – apparently Mrs Evans usually does the cooking, but when I insisted we’d bring our own food she laughed and said it’d make a nice change for her.”
“What about access?” Dawn wanted to know.
“Oh, there’s no problem there – by the sound of it they’ve made loads of alterations to accommodate just about every need you could think of. It’s really easy to find, too,” she grinned over at a couple of people not known for their map-reading skills. “It's just off the motorway and only ten minutes’ walk from the local train station. What’s more, her brother even runs a taxi service with a special rate to the lodge!”

“Is there anything to do nearby?” asked Rosy.
“Well, there are plenty of walks in the area, and another brother has just opened a dry ski-slope - with reduced rates for guests - if anyone feels energetic. If we need any suggestions for games and so on, her assistant has a whole collection of ideas suitable for various ages. The same assistant could also take charge of any young children anyone needed to bring with them. Mrs Evans also mentioned a friend of hers who runs lace-making classes and would be willing to give a demonstration for anyone interested. There’s even a small craft village nearby, managed by her cousin, specialising in woodcarving and chocolates.”

“So what’s the catch?” wondered Pat aloud.
“No catch – oh, we’ll be expected to make the beds, tidy away after ourselves and so on, of course, but nothing we wouldn’t do anyway.”
“But why is this place so cheap?” Lesley was puzzled. “With all those facilities, surely they should be charging at least three times the price?”
“Ah yes.” What could only be described as a smirk crossed Vikki’s face. “Well, it’s a special rate, you see. Originally she quoted me much more, but I happened to let slip the reason for our Gather…”
“And?”
“And – you’ll never guess who Mrs Evans is! Or rather, who she was – before she married her childhood sweetheart and moved to Wales…”
Liz’s suspicions were confirmed. “You mean…?”
Vikki nodded triumphantly.
“Anna!”

My first thought was the same as Jennie's! Do you reckon she would give us the recipe?

I thought that too... maybe some of us could distract her while the others searched the kitchen for the magic recipe?
