Hand in hand, they strolled quietly up the road, until they reached a point where the road broadened out onto the Platz, and then stopped.

She turned and gazed at him, and then looked out over the landscape. “I shall miss this place, if we have to go,” she remarked wistfully. He nodded, carefully pulled her so that her shoulders rested against his chest and entwined his fingers into hers.

“I wanted to bring you up here. To show you this.”

He indicated to the landscape spread out below where they stood.

“I wanted to remind you, in sight of all this glory, that we are all in this together, we are all scared , and, that however dark the next few months may be, that I will always be here for you.”

He tightened his grip around her, and he felt her relax back against him.

“We will come through this Jo, my love.” He reassured her, dropping a kiss onto her dark locks. She turned and buried her face in his chest, drawing strength from the sense of security she felt in his arms.

“I know. I know we will,” she replied, her beautiful voice muffled. “I know you’ll look after me Jack.”
