#1: Drabble Challenge End of the Holiday Author: Mel, Location: UP NORTHPosted: Thu Jun 22, 2006 6:10 pm The dark girl and the fair young man chatted companionably as they relaxed in the hotel garden.
"What about a stroll?"
"Good scheme!"
"Come on infant."
The seven year old girl scrambled to her feet. "Rather! Where are we going?"
"You choose," said the young man amiably.
"Oh please - by the lake near the pretty chalet."
Soon all three were walking in the soft September sunshine.
"I shall miss all this in India," sighed the young man.
"And I shall miss you, Dick," said Madge wistfully.
"Cheer up old lady - you'll have plenty to do. Baby will see to that!"
"I know she will, bless her, and how well she looks, but sometimes I wish there was more. for me to do..."
They were interupted by Joey dancing excitedly along the lake path.
"There it is Madge. Isn't it pretty?"
They gazed at the chalet with its balconies and cheerful frescoes.
"I wish we could stay here for ever, don't you Madge?" asked Joey longingly.
Madge looked at the blue waters of the Tiernsee, at the chalet which attracted them so, but mainly at Joey's tanned face and healthy looks.
"So do I Joey - so do I."
