Hi, This is my first drabble so sorry if it's not very good! It's about Felicity in a ballet company! I'm also sorry if it's been done before!

Felicity peeked around the curtain to find a packed house, there must be thousands of people out there, she thought the butterflies growing in her stomach.
This was her first performance as a leading dancer with the Royal ballet company. She still found it hard to believe they had chosen her above all the wonderful dancers they had in the company, she was in fact the one they had chosen to play Juliet in their performance of ‘Romeo and Juliet.’
Then she quickly jumped back from the curtain as she heard a familiar voice behind her.
“Good luck Felicity, I know you can do it” said Monsieur Roche the director of the ballet company giving Felicity quite a shock as she had been far into her own thoughts.
“Thank you Monsieur, I could not be here today if it were not for your excellent training and encouragement you have given me over the years I have spent with the school.” replied Felicity smiling up at him whilst working in her pointe shoes to make sure her feet were warm and her shoes ready.
“Well thank you Felicity and anyway I must get on, good luck again and I hope everything runs perfectly.” smiled Monsieur Roche.
Felicity left the stage and went back through the corridors and to the practise room where she thought she could have another quick warm up and a little practise.
But on her way to the room Felicity heard something from one of the side rooms and went to check. She peeped her head round the door to find Lucy Peters crying in the middle of the room. Felicity went over to Lucy and was very concerned about what might be wrong. Maybe she had done a difficult dance step and fallen and hurt herself or maybe she felt ill. Felicity was just not sure but was very worried as the show was not so very far away and Lucy could not miss it.
“Lucy, what’s wrong? Have you hurt yourself? Do you fell ill? Whatever is the matter?” asked Felicity as she knelt down beside Lucy.
Lucy looked away and said she was fine trying to wipe away all the tears falling down her hot cheeks.
“Please tell me, look I might be able to help you” said Felicity putting an arm around Lucy but being shaken off abruptly.
“Just leave me alone Felicity, you can’t help me and more to the point I don’t want your help, so just go away and play your pretty ballerina games elsewhere.” said Lucy with a sharp, mean tone that hurt Felicity immensely. How could anyone be so mean when she was only trying to help. And she thought they were best friends which hurt even more. But she was determined to find out what was wrong and make everything better, that’s what Len would do right? She decided to leave her for now and get ready for the show. She stood up and walked out slamming the door behind her.
Lucy was upset and ashamed of what she had just said she hadn’t meant to hurt Felicity she just couldn’t face telling anyone and least of all Felicity. She burst into tears all over again.

Felicity made her way back to the stage, she decided to give the practise room a miss and besides she needed to practise her en Fouette Releve Jete en tournant into a pas de valse coming forward three times, into a chasse passe en avant and slowly into a penchee, on the stage. As she always got that bit wrong and she was determined to get it to its best before the show.
Felicity got so wrapped up in practising that she forgot about Lucy for the present.

“Felicity, How’s it going? Are you nervous?” asked John, Felicity’s Romeo in the show.
“Oh, Hi there John, Yeah well you know the odd nerves are never bad! How are you?” asked Felicity, staring into John’s deep blue eyes.
“Yeah I’m good thank you, I was just wondering if we could practise the Fouette Pirouette into the high leap lift, you know the one I’m talking about?” asked John, taking Felicity’s hand and leading her to the open space in the centre of the stage.
“Of course” replied Felicity. This was one of her favourite pieces she got to dance.
As they danced Felicity was completely oblivious to everything going on around her, and didn’t notice everyone watching them, deeply enthralled in the way they danced together.

“Look at the way she moves” whispered Anne, a small dark girl.
“Huh! Well she’s nothing special if you ask me, any of us could have done that part just as well in fact probably better.” sneered Victoria, Anne’s best friend.
“Hmm…” said Anne, not really listening to Victoria, her full attention on Felicity and John.
“Show opens in five minutes people, into your places” shouted Monsieur Roche, Felicity quickly snapped out of her dancing to realise that everyone had been staring and turned a slight red with embarrassment.
As she went back into the wings for the opening scene the nerves really started to play her up but it was ever so exciting and still a tiny bit unbelievable that she was there playing the lead in a major London ballet on a main stage, it was her dream and there she was living it to the full.

Okay here goes!

But then Felicity noticed that Lucy was not on stage in her place but instead her understudy Marie was there. As she thought about it she realised she had not seen Lucy since earlier on, when she had been in quite a state. Felicity became rather worried and slipped off to try to find her.
Felicity tried the room where she had first found Lucy crying, but the room was empty now. She tried the changing rooms but the only people in there were Jane and Rebecca and they said they had not seen Lucy since she had been coming out of the directors office early this morning.
“Director’s office, what was she doing in there?” asked Felicity confused.
“Who knows she wouldn’t talk to us, actually she was quite rude!” expressed Jane, anger showing in her eyes.
“Oh dear, well I must go, see you later” said Felicity, wondering why on earth Lucy was in the director’s office.

Poor Lucy, I hope it's something that can be overcome. A shame Felicity didn't look for her earlier, she might have been able to help.

As Felicity was walking along the corridor in search of Lucy, Victoria came running down and nearly knocked her over, she was obviously in a hurry but she still had time to leer at Felicity with one of those looks that always made her shiver.
Felicity remembered when she first got to the school, how Victoria had made her life hell and the only way she ever got through it was because of Lucy.
Lucy, Oh no she had to find Lucy quickly instead of day dreaming!

Then suddenly Felicity was more certain of where Lucy was then ever before and quickly ran to their special place, the old oak tree with the bench in the alcove, where they had gone to many times before when things were wrong, she was certain that’s where Lucy must be.

She was indeed correct, there she found Lucy just staring in front of her with a few tears still falling slowly down her cheeks.
Felicity went over, hot and flustered from running so quickly, and she sat next to her best friend and put her arm around her and this time was not shaken off.
“Please Lucy, What is it?” asked Felicity giving Lucy a look full of concern and upset for her friend.
“I…I..” began Lucy not getting very far.
“Come on Lucy please?” said Felicity giving Lucy encouragement.

There was a loud crash at that point, and both girls stood up and ran to where they heard the noise come from. Victoria was sat crying in pain on the floor. “Victoria what is it? What’s happened?” asked Felicity, trying to help her up.
“Owww” screamed Victoria.
“Lucy go and find help, I will stay with Victoria” said Felicity, trying to think rationally. “Victoria can you try to tell me what happened? I know it hurts but try, please” Felicity sat down beside Victoria and took her hand.
“I fell… ouch Felicity it really hurts” said Victoria, wincing with pain.
“I know, Lucy has gone to get help, it will be okay, I promise” said Felicity, squeezing Victoria’s hand for reassurance.
At that point Lucy came down the corridor towards them with Monsieur Roche, the nurse and some other people. They carried her off to another room somewhere. Monsieur Roche walked off down the corridor swearing to himself about how the show would be ruined.
“Oh dear, I do hope she will be okay” sighed Felicity, standing up next to Lucy, who looked utterly confused. “Oh my, you never told me what was wrong Lucy! I nearly forgot in all that commotion, Lucy please carry on” said Felicity, taking Lucy’s hands in her own and facing her.

Oh here you go then! I can't keep you hanging on forever! There's still quite a lot left actually!

“I… I’ve quit the Royal ballet company Felicity” sobbed Lucy. Felicity gasped and there was a long silence while she thought this through.
“What?”… “But you can’t, why?” squeaked Felicity trying to get her head around it.
“I want to go back to the chalet school for my finishing years” said Lucy whilst drying her eyes “and besides they told me I needed to lose weight if I wanted to carry on dancing for them” sighed Lucy.
“So your just going to leave? And why ever would you need to lose weight Lucy, your perfect the way you are!” exclaimed Felicity.
“Yes, I am leaving Felicity, look you’ll be just fine honey, you’re a wonderful dancer and will go far, I know you will. Now I think your needed on stage you don’t want to miss your queue. I will be watching, go dance like you never have before but mainly just have fun that’s all that matters you hear me?” said Lucy giving Felicity a hug and kiss, she then stood up and pulled Felicity to her feet too.
“Thank you Lucy, I am going to miss you so much, But I do have to go now. Will I see you after the show?” asked Felicity hoping for a proper chance to say goodbye.
“Yes of course you will, I wouldn’t just leave like that, now go your needed, good luck!” smiled Lucy. Felicity gave Lucy another hug and ran off in the direction of the stage.
Lucy walked around to the front of house to watch what was left of the show.

Aw poor Lucy- I know just how she feels. Dancing puts so much pressure on what you look like, so Lucy will probably enjoy herself more at CS!
Hope Felicity carries on with her dream though!

#51:  Author: Alison HLocation: Manchester PostPosted: Sat Oct 22, 2005 11:17 am

Oh poor Lucy! What a rotten thing for them to say to her, even if dancers do need to be slim! Thanks Willow.

#52:  Author: Chalet_school_loverLocation: Gloucester PostPosted: Sat Oct 22, 2005 11:24 am

Here you go you can have a bit more to make up for the cliff I left you on yesterday! Wink

Lucy was sat in tears at the end of the show, but they were good tears. Felicity had been amazing and the most perfect Juliet. You couldn’t have asked for a better show.
Lucy went back stage and gave Felicity the biggest hug and told her how amazing she had been. Joey Maynard, Len, Con and Margot all came in at that point with a huge bunch of flowers and all threw themselves at Felicity.
“Hello Lucy, how come you were not dancing dear? Are you ill?” asked Joey Maynard.
“Hello Mrs Maynard, I am sad to say that I am leaving the Royal ballet” said Lucy with a tiny catch in her voice. “But I am coming back to the chalet school for my last year of education” smiled Lucy.
“Oh I am sorry to hear you are leaving, But I am very pleased to hear that you are coming back to the chalet school for another year with us.” said Joey smiling at Lucy and then moving on to congratulate her daughter.
After the Maynards left, Lucy was just about to go over to Felicity when John got to her first so Lucy went back and sat down again.

Poor Lucy, it is dreadful that she should have to give up her dreams. And she is so good to keep on feeling supportive to Felicity, who will obviously carry on dancing. Thanks for this, Willow, it is lovely.

#57:  Author: Chalet_school_loverLocation: Gloucester PostPosted: Sat Oct 22, 2005 6:28 pm

“Err.. Hi Felicity, I Just wanted to say that you were fantastic and all, and that I hope we can dance together again” said John, fiddling with his collar.
“Oh hi John, thanks you were great as well, I really hope we can dance together again too” smiled Felicity. “Anything else?” asked Felicity, wondering why he was still just stood there looking nervous.
“Err.. Yeah, you wouldn’t happen to want to like you know come out to dinner with me one night would you? Asked John, going rather red at what he was saying.
Felicity’s face was a picture of pure shock and excitement. “Oh my!” exclaimed Felicity, then realising that she was stood there with a huge grin on her face composed herself. “Yes, dinner would be lovely” smiled Felicity.
“Okay great, look I ought to go I’ll see you soon” smiled John, and ran out of the room.
Felicity ran over to where Lucy was sitting and squealed with delight. “Did you hear that?” asked Felicity a massive grin on her face.
“Pardon sorry, what did you say?, I was miles away” replied Lucy.
“John Collins just asked me out to dinner!” said Felicity, over come with joy.
“Oh my! Really? that’s great Felicity!” exclaimed Lucy smiling up at her friend glad that she was so happy.

“I think we should go and see how Victoria is” said Felicity, suddenly coming back down to earth.
“Yeah I suppose we should, but remember Felicity she wasn’t all that nice to you” Said Lucy, as they walked along to the nurse’s room.
“Yeah I know, but I think she might have changed a bit” replied Felicity, who was far to forgiving for her own good.
They knocked on the door and Victoria told them to come in. “Hi Victoria, How are you?” asked Felicity walking towards where she was sat, still looking rather pale with pain.
“I can’t dance for at least 6 months, and then I have to see if I will ever regain strength” said Victoria tears in her eyes.
“Oh I am so sorry Victoria, I wish there was something I could do” said Felicity, really feeling sorry for Victoria, who she had instantly forgiven.
“Yeah, I am too” said Lucy, deciding she ought to say something, although she had not really forgiven Victoria for the way she was towards Felicity.
“Yeah well that’s my dance career done the drain, but thank you for helping me earlier and I … I’m sorry Felicity” muttered Victoria, her face turning slightly red.
“That’s okay, your forgiven, I will see you later, I have to go do something at the moment, goodbye Victoria” said Felicity, bending down to hug Victoria and then taking Lucy’s arm and leading her out the door.

The last part I hope you all enjoyed it!

They slowly walked along to their special place so they could say goodbye properly.
“Goodbye Felicity, this is so hard so maybe we should keep it short. You’re my best friend and always will be, and I don’t know what I‘m going to do without you!” said Lucy, tears already pouring out again.
“Oh Lucy, I am going to miss you so much and I want to thank you for being here for me over the years and for being such a wonderful best friend.” said Felicity, her stage make up running down her face.
“Goodbye Felicity, Lets just leave it at that it will be a bit easier” smiled Lucy.
“Okay, goodbye Lucy, you have to promise to visit me and write all the time” said Felicity smiling back at Lucy.
“Of course, you have to do the same as well though, and tell me all about your dinner with John! Oh Felicity I thought this would be a tiny bit easier but it‘s not at all! It‘s so hard to say goodbye to someone just like that!” said Lucy. “Now let’s pull ourselves together come on, lets go back” said Lucy standing up, taking Felicity’s arm under her own and they skipped off together laughing.
