Can anyone tell me about Jo and Jack's wedding? Obviously, it happens in the gap in Exile, but is there anything anywhere that tells us where it was or who was there?

Any suggestions would be gratefully accepted, I can't think of anything concrete but then again, I haven't a done a read-through for a while.

Thank you!

They got married in Guernsey - Jack tried to arrange for them to get married in Switzerland but the paperwork got messy so they decided to wait - but there's no description of it at all. I don't think it's even made clear if they have a Catholic service or an Anglican service. Would love to read a description of it though!

Keep reading the Sound of Music crossover Alison, and eventually, all will be revealed...

Thanks for your speedy response!

Hasn't anyone done a drabble on this ever?

There will also be a description in The CS on Guernsey, which |I am working on for my next book. Which is one reason why I shall be on Guernsey for a week from this Saturday.
All we know is that Jo wore an Italian lace veil given her by the di Ferrara girls, as she lent it to Simone for her wedding.

There was a drabble and it was really really lovely but I can't remember who wrote it or anything helpful like that!

The basics was a drabble on here, but I'm expanding it, and putting a few wrong things right. It covers the gap and goes on to the move to Plas Howell, but it doesn't cover what happens in the school much at all.

She has Gisela's girls for bridesmaids, and that would seem to imply some kind of church sevice.

Lizzie, there is a small description of the wedding on FOCS (google rockterrace) in an article called Joey Part 2....however this is only the imagination of the author (not EBD,I mean!) so I'm looking forward to your take on it !....and with lots of smoochiness please! Very Happy

Pat...new book coming....hooray! Can't wait! Very Happy

Sounds promising though. Very Happy

Pat's original version of the wedding is here, beginning at the very end of part 1:
part 1
part 2

I really must go catch up on the Sound of Music, not to mention the rest of the current drabbles....

In The Chalet School Goes To It when Jo is helping Simone with her last minute wedding plans they discuss types of weddings and bridesmaids and it says: "Simone was quite willing to agree. ‘I had thought it must be a summer frock and hat and no brides-maids, as all the rest of you have had,’ she said wistfully. ‘Even Frieda had Gisela’s little girls. But Renée will never be able to get here in time, so I thought I must do without.’ "

Maybe that's what Miriam was thinking of? I may be mistaken, but I don't think who Jo's bridesmaids were was ever mentioned., though it does here say that she had some.

That's what I thought. She was planning to have Robin as Chielf Bridesmaid, and Grizel as another before they left Austria.

Ooh, just checked it out, thanks grover, it was lovely. My take on the wedding won't happen for a while in 'Changes' (or whatever it ends up being called) as Jo and Jack haven't actually got together yet. But thank you very much everyone for the help. And yes, I do intend to include quite a measure of smoochiness, do not fret.

And Pat, I very much anticipate your book, even if it is a way off yet. Have a lovely time in Guernsey.

Oh, also, can anyone tell me where Jack lived while he was a doctor at the San? Would he have had rooms there? He didn't live with the Russells did he?

I don't think it says, but I assume he had rooms at the San.

The Stuffer and Maria couldn't make it to the wedding but sent an absolutely awful tea service in their place - it's raffled off in a Sale one of the later books. Coming of Age, I think - one with a silver stall, anyway.

No, it's raffled off in Summer Term. The one with Erica Standish in it. I think. Smile

I read Pat's fab drabble from 2004 and in one very long sitting. Thanks for posting the links Kathy-S. Really great drabble, very tense.
