Soeur Marie-Cecilia paced back and forth across the arrivals lounge at the airport. The Christmas decorations around her sparkled, and a choir sang carols in one corner. Children were running everywhere, pursued by harrassed parents, and she stopped to pick up a little girl who had fallen at her feet. The child looked up, with big dark eyes and soft curls so like her own, and smiled, and for a moment she saw what she might have had if she had chosen a different life. The baby's mother arrived and thanked her as she took her mischevious child, and Soeur Marie Cecilia waved at the little girl as she was carried away. The choir sang on, and she listened absently to the words as she watched the planes coming in to land.

"...and God bless you and send you a Happpy New Year..." she whispered as the choir sang. How happy her Christmas and New Year would be this year. The snow was falling thickly outside, and she had been worried that the plane from London wouldn't arrive, but the man she had spoken to had assured her that there would be no problem.

"We are used to this weather, as you know, ma Souer," he had smiled when she made her anxious enquiry. Suddenly she stiffened, as the sound of voices could be heard over the carols, and spun around to face the entrance. Three young women came into view, and one looked so like her mother that for a moment Soeur Marie-Cecilia thought she had gone back in time. Then she realised, this was Con. She stared in disbelief at the little girls she remembered, now independant young women, but forgot them instantly as a taller, older woman came round the corner, her grey hair cut short and a child of about ten holding on to each hand. Forgetting her dignity, Soeur Marie-Cecilia shrieked

"Joey! My Joey!" and flew across the room to throw herself on the other woman, tears of joy streaming down both their cheeks.

After a round of introductions, and exclamaitions at how much the children had grown, Soeur Marie-Cecilia led the way out of the airport, her namesake, Cecil, clinging to her arm and the rest of the children and young people swarming around her. For the first time since she had left England to join the order, Soeur Marie-Cecilia, once Robin Humphries, had what she had longed for for so long. Christmas with her beloved sister and her family.

That's so sad but Robin didn't have a choice. I didn't see any suitors come and propose to her ever. Gloriously glowy and tingly, heart warming drabble.
