This is the first drabble i've written so hope u like it! Margot sighed as she stared out at the starry night, she couldn’t sleep, she never seemed able to recently. He kept getting in the way... She remembered the first time she’d seen him, his red hair dazzlingly bright in the sun and the bright blue eyes so like her own, and she knew, knew he was for her. When she’d spoken to him he’d said no, told her they were both too young, that they should wait till they were both older. Now some months past her 18th birthday he was still all she could think about, would he remember the promise he’s made about coming back or would she be forgotten like yesterday’s dinner? |

Thanks for all the lovely comments! She sighed softly and crept back to bed and presently fell into a light sleep tossing and turning all night. The next morning she was awake to see the sun rise and dressed quietly conscious of her sleeping siblings in the surrounding stairs. She grabbed a glass of milk and buttery roll and tiptoes into the garden. Sitting on the bench on the grassy lawn Margot’s thoughts once again returned to the person who held her heart. “Margot, Margot where are you?” Len’s voice broke through her daydream and she ran back to the house. “Where have you been” Len demanded “I’ve been calling you for ages, Frühstück is ready” “Sorry, I was in the garden and didn’t hear you calling” Len looked at her sister, Margot was not normally a dreamer. That was normally Con, Con was always dreaming with her story characters but not Margot. Looking at her sister she realised her sister was unnaturally pale and had dark rings under her eyes. “Are you ok Meg?” she asked gently, “you don’t seem yourself?” “Yeah I’m fine” Margot replied stifling a yawn. Lucky for her Joey called them to hurry up for their porridge was getting cold The two sisters walked into the dining room side by side, and sat down at the table with all their other siblings except Cecil and the second twins Phil and Geoff who were all too young to eat at the table so had their meals in the playroom. “What have you two been doing?” Joey asked “Talking as usual?” “Yes sorry mum!” Len replied shooting a glance at Margot. Joey also glanced at the latter and at once did a double take. The youngest triplet normally has rosy red cheeks and was full of life but today a more washed out creature couldn’t be found. “What’s the matter with you Margot? Aren’t you well?” Joey asked instantly jumping to the conclusion that she was ill. “Nothing, i’m fine” Margot muttered glumly. Not for worlds could she have told Joey the truth! |

Sorry Fio not quite After Frühstück Joey sent Margot back to bed with strict instructions to sleep as much as possible. The rest-except the three youngest were sent off on a picnic with Len and Con in charge after promising to do exactly as they were told. having seen them off Joey ran lightly up the stairs to check on the youngest triplet. Looking down at the flushed face tossing and turning beneath her she remembered the days, years ago, when the triplets told her everything. These days were few as Margot was sent to Canada with her Aunt Madge to strengthen her. Margot had grown up so much over that year that she wasn't the same girl when Joey had met them in Canada. Creeping out the room and sftly shutting the door Joey walked along the corridor to the playroom where her 3 youngest were playing quietly. Cecil and Phil were playing with their dollies while Geoffwas messing around with his toy train. Normally Marie-Claire, Joey's adoptee was added to the nursury but she was staying with her adopted sister eric-Jane Standish with one of Erica's schoolmates. Dropping down next to the girls she joined in their game. Even so her mind was still on Margot: "Nothing" she murmered to herself "Will make me force her confidence, I just hope she feels she can talk to me" "What is you saying mamma?" Cecil asked "Nothing pet" her mother replied "Come here and I will tell you all a story" |

I'm thinking the lovely Roger ... the only other red-haired boy I can think of (apart from Geoff!) is Maurice Bettany (I think, anyway!) and he's Margot's cousin. |

Thank you all for your comments The following day Margot was up and about as usual, with her normal colour back as Joey was pleased to see. It was also the last day before returning to London to continue her doctor's course. Margot had realised that morning as she was dressing,that unless she pulled herself together, or at least acted as if she was fine then she's have Joey fussing round her not to mention Len and Con. Truth be told she was a little scared of Len's gift of figuring out what was wrong and what people were feeling. Having decided this Margot outwardly appeared to be her normal jolly self and happily accompanied her sisters on a walk to the san to say goodbye to all the people they knew. Inwardly she coouldn't wait for the next day when she would no longer have to keep up the pretence! |

The next day Margot had just finished unpacking her bag and waswondering if her sisters were back at Oxfoord yet when her best friend Jen ran into the room. "Meg," she exclaimed excitedly "How are you, how was your holiday? How are your sisters? how..." "Jen stop" Margot said smiling at her. Jennifer Brawly's green eyes were sparkling with excitement and her long fair hair was flying around her waist. "Sit down and we'll catch up" "Oh i almosy forgot, whiney said to tell you you've got a visitor, he's in the guest lounge." Whiney was the nickname of the unfortunate receptionist who always sounded as if she was whining. "But what man would come and visit me?" she asked "It can't be pappa or steve, i only left them this morning" "Why don't you go and find out, we'll talk when you get back!" Jen replied bouncing out the room Margot followed more slowly, thinking hard. "I wonder who it could be" she thought "It couldn't be.... could it?" her heart fluttered at the thought and quickerned her pace to find out who her suprse visitor was?! |

Margot ran lightly along the corridor, down the stairs and along the path to the reception area and into the seperate wing dedicated to visitors. Slowing down she came to the solid oak door and knocked, "Come in" called a cheerful voice, so very different from the main receptionists. Margot opened the door and walked into the rreception area "Margot dear how are you?" Mrs Cramley said coming to hug Margot "did you have good hols?" "Yes thank you" Margot replied smiling back cheerfully though her voice lacked the excitement her answer implied "Your visitor's in there" Mrs Cramley said pointing towards the door leading up to the visitor lounge. Lowering her voice she whisperd "Who is he my dear, mighty handsome he is!" "I don't know" Margot replied "No body's told me who it is" "Well go and see him my dear but make sure you tell me all the gossiplater, go on off you go" Margot ran towards the door and knocked gently "Come in" came from inside Margot's heart fluttered, could it be, could all her dreams be about to come true? She grabbed the door handle and slowly pushed open the door... |

Thanks for all the comments! Sorry this is only short, will post more when i get a chance! She couldn’t believe her eyes; here he was leaning back in his chair. His flaming red hair was cut back in a neat straight cut, as you would expect from one in the RAF. Hearing her enter he turned, his blue eyes meeting her own and all she could feel was this electric bond connecting them, Roger was here! |
