This is a very short drabble about the lovely Confused

Jack Lambert

Jack stood looking out of the window of her large Cheshire house. She was waiting for the postman to deliver the letter whose contents would change her life. She had worked long and hard and now she would see if it had all paid off.
Just then she spotted the postman opening the gate of her next door neighbour's house. Not long now!
With her face pressed against the window pane Jack watched every move. Thirty-four strides to the front door, four seconds at the door, thirty-seven steps back to the pavement. She had to keep wiping away the breath on the window vigorously for she was not going to take her eyes off that postman!
Then he reached the front gate. Jack raced to the door and opened it before he could even knock.
"Is there a Miss Lambert here? I've been asked to deliver this to her personally," he asked taken aback.
"Yes, yes, that's me! Thank you so much!" If Jack had been more feminine she would have kissed the poor postman at that moment, however she responded with a gentlemanly handshake.
She slammed shut the door and raced into the front room, sitting down on the sofa. She stared at the envelope for a few seconds before tearing it open. She scanned the contents before letting out a squeal.
"i've got it, I've got it! Oh my goodness, I can't believe it," she shouted as she started jumping up and down.
"What on earth is the matter?" cried a voice from the back room.
"Aunt Jacynth, I've got it! I've got it!" by this time tears of happiness were running down Jack's face.
Jacynth entered the room and picked up the envelope and it's contents which Jack had carelessly thrown to the floor. She studied it carefully before shaking her head in disbelief and leaving the room. The letter read:

Dear Miss Lambert
We would like to thank you for your request and are pleased to announce that you have been accepted by the Board. As of now you are a season ticket holder at Manchester United Football Club. Please find enclosed your ticket and receipt of your payment.
We hope you enjoy your time at Manchester United.

Well I'm glad she's got her season ticket - mine hasn't arrived yet although United cashed the cheque weeks ago Laughing

I like Jack. She's one of my most favourite characters. I hope she enjoys using the ticket!

*ROFL* I didn't see that coming! I thought she was being accepted to teach or something!

Seriously though, we hardly ever get to see Jack and Jacynth in a scene together, despite their close (?) relationship. Thanks Laura Very Happy

For a few moments there, I was confusing her with Tom Gay, and thinking she was being accepted as a candidate for theological college.

I'm now having severe problems in separating drabble from canon.

I daren't admit that, Alison. My BF, Haleema, is mad about Liverpool. She's so crazy about them she phones me on the days they're playing and tells me to put my red briefs and sweater on. With other clothes, of course.
