Just a piece of piffle which came drifting into the cranium yesterday... On the Gornetz Platz All the girls wear hats And they take umbrellas too! There's a Platz Gornetz Where the new girl gets Involved in a terrible to-do! On the Platz etz-Gorn There's a mistress forlorn And a doctor coming to the rescue! So it's Gornetz Platz! Girls wear hats! Platz Gornetz! New girl gets! Platz etz-Gorn! Mistress forlorn! What a dangerous place (and full of brats!) Is the Gornetz Gornetz Platz! |

I decided I should put all these in one thread, as there are a few! And here is number two. Must go and polish the sleigh.... O holy night! The stars are brightly shining, It is the night of the dear Triplets’ birth. Long lay the school in gentle boredom waiting, Till They appeared to bring beauty and mirth. A thrill of hope the weary school rejoices, For yonder breaks a new and glorious morn. Guess all their names! Oh, hear their angel voices! O night divine, the night the Triplets were born; O night, O holy night, O night divine! O night, O holy night, O night divine! |

Not a Christmas song this time, Liz, but I hope it will give you a little giggle. Song of a New Doctor When a Doc won his mistress, in stories of old, He was gentle and brave, he was gallant and bold; With a girl in his arms and syringe in his hand, For God and for valour he strode through the land. No first aid kit have I, no syringe by my side, Yet still to adventure and battle I stride, Though back into fiction kidnappers have fled, And the blizzards no more and the madmen are dead. Let me come to the rescue, perform a great deed, ‘Gainst the fires and the floods and the Midnights of greed And let me set free with the sword of my youth, The lonely young mistress, the power of the truth. |

Certainly you can, Liz - the question is may you. Still, how could a good Santa refuse such a request? Here is a Chalet School Nativity for you! And it came to pass in those days, that there went out a decree from Hilda Annersley, that all Chalet Girls, both Old and new, should be registered. (And this register was first made when the school was in Guernsey.) And all went to be registered, every one to the Channel Islands. And Joey also went up from Pretty Maids, out of the county of Hampshire, into Guernsey, unto the home of the school, which had been called Sarres; because she was an Old Girl and the lineage of Madge Bettany to be registered with Jack her husband, and being great with child. And so it was that while they were there, the days were accomplished that she should be delivered. And she brought forth her firstborn children, and wrapped them in blankets and laid them in a trug, because there was no room for them in the dormitories. And there were in the same country some juniors, holding doing their prep in their common room. And, lo, the secretary of the Headmistress came upon them, and the glory of the Headmistress shone round them; and they were sore afraid. And the secretary said unto them, Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy. For unto you is born this day in the village of Howells three Saviours, which are the Children of the First Pupil and are Head Girl, Games Prefect and Magazine Prefect. And this shall be a sign unto you; Ye shall find the babes wrapped in blankets, lying in a trug. And suddenly there was with the secretary a multitude of the beautiful mistresses, praising the Headmistress and saying, Glory to Hilda in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men. And it came to pass, as the mistresses were gone away from them into the staff room, the juniors said to one another, Let us now go even unto the gardening shed, and see this thing which is come to pass, which the Headmistress hath made known unto us. And they came with haste, and found Mary, and Joseph, and the babes lying in a trug. And when they had seen it, they made know abroad the saying which was told them concerning these children. And all they that heard it wondered at those things which were told them by the juniors. But Joey kept all these things and pondered them in her heart. And the juniors returned, glorifying and praising Hilda for all the things that they had heard and seen, as it was told unto them. |

This one has a Strong Moral Message - sorry! Good Madge Bettany looked out On the feast of Stephen When the snow lay round about Deep and crisp and even Brightly shone the moon that night On her engagement jewel When a young girl came in sight trudging by the school. “Hither, Jo, and stand by me I am knowledge yearning Yonder junior, who is she? Where and what her learning?” “Madge, she lives a good league hence Underneath the mountain Where Miss Browne teaches nonsense By Scholastika’s fountain.” “Bring me books and bring me pens Bring me paper hither Thou and I will see her learn When we bear them thither.” Head and sister forth they went Forth they went together Through the rude wind’s wild lament And the bitter weather. “Madge, the night is darker now And the wind blows stronger Fails my heart, I know not how, I can go no longer.” “Quickly light a fire, Jo Light this paper - bustle Who is that o’er there doth go? Oh! It’s Doctor Russell!” Jem found them there with great alarm In the snowdrifts sinking Madge unconscious in his arms Jo was barely blinking. Therefore, Chalet girls, be sure Brains or looks possessing Ye who now will bless the poor Shall yourselves find blessing. |

The mistletoe hung in Freudesheim’s hall The holly branch shone on the Speisesaal wall. The Maynards’ retainers were blithe and gay, Keeping the Christmas holiday. The San’s Head beheld with a father’s pride His beautiful child, Reg Entwhistle’s bride. And she, with her bright eyes seemed to be The star of that goodly company. Oh, the mistletoe bough. Oh, the mistletoe bough. “I’m weary of dancing, now,” she cried; “Here, tarry a moment, I’ll hide, I’ll hide, And Reg, be sure you’re the first to trace The clue to my secret hiding place.” Away she ran, and her friends began Each floor to search and each nook to scan. And young Reg cried, “Oh, where do you hide? I’m lonesome without you, my own fair bride.” Oh, the mistletoe bough. Oh, the mistletoe bough. They sought her that night, they sought her next day, They sought her in vain when a week passed away. In the drying room, kitchen and Jack’s dressing room, Young Reg sought wildly, but found her not. The years passed by and their brief at last Was told as a sorrowful tale long past. When Reg appeared, all the children cried, “See the old man weeps for his Maynard bride.” Oh, the mistletoe bough. Oh, the mistletoe bough. At length, an old chest that had long laid hid Was found in the attic; they raised the lid. A skeleton form lay mouldering there In the bridal wreath of that lady fair. How sad the day when in sportive jest She hid from her doctor in the the old school chest, It closed with a spring and a dreadful doom, And Len lay clasped in a living tomb. Oh, the mistletoe bough. Oh, the mistletoe bough. |

Well, that was the last, but I managed to conjour this from the post-present-delivery-sherry-and-mince-pie sludge that is currently my brain. Hope it meets with your approval! Silent night, holy night Walking home by lamplight One cold child runs home with warm heart Jo wakes next morning to Christmas’s start “Madge! It’s Christmas morning.” “Madge! It’s Christmas morning.” Silent night, holy night Presents by firelight Round die Grossmutter, Robin and Jo Sit and listen to tales of snow Joey’s golden voice. Joey’s golden voice. Silent night, holy night Sleigh ride in the frosty white Furs and hot bricks, silvery bells The heavy gray sky more snow foretells First Christmas in Tyrol. First Christmas in Tyrol. |
