She stood just inside the door of the trunk room wondering what to do. Everyone else was bustling about unpacking their trunks under the eagle eye of Matey, but she was absolutely certain that there was no trunk with her name on it. In fact, she had no idea what she was doing here or how she had got here. She was wearing the regulation Chalet School uniform of a gentian blue dress with honeycomb piping, which was so different to the things she usually wore that she felt ver awkward and self-conscious. Then someone touched her lightly on the arm, and she turned to see a girl with light brown curly hair standing beside her.
“Hello,” she said. “Are you new? I’m Mary-Lou Trelawney, the Head Girl. Where’s your trunk? Matey will be on your back if you don’t get started.”
“I - I don’t know. I’m not sure I have one.”
Mary-Lou stared at this somewhat unusual reply. “Don’t be silly! Of course you have a trunk! Your people will have sent it with your uniform and things. Let’s have a look round and see if we can find it.”
Sure enough there was a trunk standing unattended, and Mary-Lou pounced on it.
“Is this yours?”
“It looks like it.” It certainly had her name on it, but she had no idea how it had got there.
The trunk wasn’t locked, which was just as well, as she had no keys to unlock it. Mary-Lou flung open the lid and they looked inside. On the top was a brand new teddy bear, with a label round his neck which read ‘Honeycomb II’ Mary-Lou lifted him out carefully and laid him at the end of one of the wicker trays the girls were using for their clothes. Then between them they lifted out all the other things in the trunk. Uniform items of course, stockings, cotton hankies, shoes and boots, games kit, everything that a Chalet School girl would need was there.
“Right, that’s everything. which dormie are you in?”
“I don’t know.”
“We’ll have to ask Matey then. Come on.”
Mary-Lou pulled her across the wiry domestic tyrant of the school.
“Matey, this is Carolyn Phillips. She says she doesn’t know which is her dormitory.”
Matey looked through her list, and then looked again.
“I don’t have anyone of that name here,” she said.
“That’s the name that was on her trunk.”
“What do you know about this, young lady?” said Matey sternly. “You have a trunk with your name on it, but I have no record of you.”

The bunnies hoped and jumped but didn't skip, that movement was reserved for lambs, silly creatures in the bunnies' estimation. These bunnies knew all about silliness, having haunted the CBB for some years feeding fanfic direct into the minds of their victims. They had an ulterior motive. Bunnies always did.

These particular bunnies had come from the planet omicrom zero blue nine. A particularly violent planet with a taste for startch and twinsets. The sun was lime green and the grass cream coloured. This made it rather dirty when you walked on it, so there were strict rules about never walking on the grass. You smoked it instead. That was where the plots came from. The plots formed in the smoke from the grass and then bunny plotcatchers used a cunning system of nets and pullys to catch, ferment and bottle the baby plots. By the time they had matured on the long journey to earth they were rather strong and a tad smelly. That was what made them fanfic plots, and why they worked best when released into the ehter of the internet. Fresh air and oxygen would render them harmless, they needed to remain in the world of wires and circuit boards to retain their unique and pungent specialness.
Where was I, the fumes quite overcame me for a moment then.

Oh yes, smelly plots. This is one of them. Pat had not realised she was infested, although the green smoke issuing from the back of her computer should have been a warning, and the melted modem a clue, but she was too far gone for any meaningful recovery. She feverishly typed, mixing cbbers, chalet school characters and people from history, real life and a multitude of novels. Her fingers became melded with her keyboard, the words typing as she thought of them. The screen moved slowly towards her head, suddenly jumping and attatching itself to her eye. She continued weaving the inedible (no, not a typo) story together. Done.

CBB open, Pat/1of3 started typing.
You will be assimilated.
Resistance is futile.

Carolyn was 'got at' by Rachel years ago. Go and look at the Holocaust drabble in the archives for proof!

'It wasn't fair!' Carolyn thought rebelliously, 'it wasn't her fault that she was at the School without the Chalet Authorities knowing she was coming. Why couldn't they have entered her properly, if they must enter her into the School.' She stood there in the Headmistress' Study, watching as the two Heads went through possibilities,

"Ran away to School?"

"No that was Carola."

"Mad artist Aunt?"

"No, Katherine."

"Expelled from everywhere else?"

"No, that's Ted."

"Mother crazy authoress who writes risqué pamphlets?"

"No that was Yseult - hey wait a minute - I didn't know they were risqué?"

"Oh yes, I managed to get hold of one or two - nearly curdled my warm milk I can tell you."

"Why what did she write?"

"Well there was this," Miss Annersley stopped and the two looked across at where Carolyn was standing, "I'll tell you later, Nell."

Miss Wilson nodded, "Well there's no other explanation," she said, "we've been through all the possible reasons, it must be this one," she shook her head in some sorrow.

Miss Annersley sighed, "Carolyn, my dear, you are going to have to be very brave," she said quietly.

Carolyn frowned, "Why? I mean, I'm not staying here."

"Oh but you are, child," she held up a hand, "and before you try and argue, I'm well aware that you are really a woman in your thirties, but here you are a child, about thirteen I would say."

"I don't understand," Carolyn said, somewhat worried that these two could know so much.

"Well it's simple really," Miss Wilson said, "you've obviously offended the Chalet School in some way - probably written something rather too far from the canon - we have to protect ourselves, you know? So, until you've worked off your crimes you will be here as a pupil."

"Attending all the lessons."

"Keeping to rigid regimes for diet, health and fitness."

"Drinking a minimum of three gallons of warm milk each day."

"Having icy cold baths every morning."

The pair stopped on seeing the absolute horror on Carolyn's face, "Oh I'm sure you can use your imagination for all these things," Miss Annersley said with a smile, "and don't worry, you will have plenty of company - since the CBB started up we've increased our numbers ten-fold!"

Was Lesley the first and is she still there to welcome Carolyn?
