You can guess the crossover if you like but I expect it's quite easy!

The excitement began on a very ordinary evening in December, as the Maynard family finished their preparations for the Christmas party they had decided to have for friends and relations that year which would take place the next night.

The Gornetz Platz was perfectly quiet and peaceful, except for a stray doctor whistling cheerily as he walked back up to the San after visiting the casino.

Mrs Joey Maynard smiled as she surveyed the decorations with her friend who was staying at Freudesheim. Millicent had been a good friend at Taverton High and she had been pleased when she had finally accepted the invitation to come and stay for two weeks with her husband, who was already firm friends with Jack Maynard, and safely ensconced in his study, talking about all kinds of things; and their only son, who was presumably off with the Maynard boys and girls upstairs. Frederick had been a little quiet so far, which Millicent had assured her dear friend was very much not the usual state of affairs! She supposed that her son was missing his dog, which he had had to leave behind with friends because of the quarantine laws. Joey had at once introduced the boy to Bruno and they had made friends quickly.

“Now, do you remember the time we played that awfully good trick on Miss Wentworth?” Millicent reminisced, as Anna wheeled in a trolley full of delicious cream cakes and ‘English’ tea in honour of the visitor. Both ladies selected a plateful, although Joey noticed that Anna was rather more clumsy than usual when she served them. Privately she resolved to speak to her when a convenient moment arose.

Smiling at Millicent’s story, she glanced over at the French windows as a shadow fell across them. The next moment, she was on her feet with an outlandish exclamation, the tea spilt on the parquet floor and the cakes flying in every direction!

“Good gracious, Jo! What on earth is the matter?” Millicent asked, surprised.

“Why – I thought I just saw Anna walk past outside,” wailed poor Jo. “But she’s standing right here in front of us!”

I, for one, have no idea what the crossover is or why Anna has a doppelganger - but I'm looking forward to finding out! This looks great, Mia.

Ah, I think I've got it - the lack of dog enlightened me. :D I wonder what they'll make of him..... (the boy that is, not the dog)

You'll guess it now! :D Thanks for the comments, here is some more.

Millicent immediately eyed Anna with suspicion! Anna started to shake alarmingly, eventually breaking down into laughter. “Mother, don’t be cross!” she said, in a surprisingly deep voice. “I couldn’t help it. Anna said I could borrow some of her clothes.”

“I’m so sorry, Jo dear.” Millicent Trotteville said with a glare at her son. “Frederick will insist on disguising himself! I suppose we’re lucky he didn’t decide to dress up as an old balloon woman, or a waxwork, or a smelly tramp or…”

“I say, Mother, don’t give away my best secrets!” Frederick Trotteville said, alarmed.

Joey had recovered herself by this time and although she looked alarmed at the list of possible disguises, she started to laugh. “Oh my goodness, you are clever, Frederick!”

“Yes, all my form masters say so, and last term I came top in the drama class and had the lead in the school play…”

“Go away now, please.” Mrs Trotteville said, rolling her eyes at her son’s supreme powers of boasting. “Why don’t you go and find the other children? Surely you could go and do some winter sports or something?”

Fatty left, whistling, and went to his bedroom to change back into his own things. That had been fun! The Maynards would be impressed; they hadn’t thought he could pull it off. In fact, they didn’t seem to think as much of him as his own friends in Peterswood did. That girl, Len, seemed to be able to match all his stories of academic prowess and adventures completely. Still, the Trottevilles were only in Switzerland for two weeks and then he could look forward to returning to England and sniffing out a nice, juicy mystery.

Little did he know that one of the most baffling mysteries of his entire career was just literally around the corner...

Oh good, I was right! I haven't read the Find-Outers for years. I can feel the need for a reread approaching...

I love the supreme disinterest the Maynards have in him - and for him to have a rival who is also a girl....the foundations of his universe must be shaking!

Fatty at the CS?? That's a crossover beyond any of my expectations. What was the name of that ridiculous policeman they were always outwitting?

Please please please, in his solving of this mystery, can you please involve the use of invisible ink?!

That would be Goon! My 9 yr old son is into listening to the Find Outers, as well as FF and SS. Otherwise I would have no idea of these characters as I never read them as a child - only the school stories.

It would be nice to see more, Mia. If you could?
