A Nice Swim

Roger took a quick look around, to make sure nobody was about, and then heaved himself out of the water with a grunt. The tight swimming trunks the boys all wore left little to the imagination, and Roger’s six foot frame, very much that of a man, had quite shocked the nice old ladies they had encountered last week, or so Uncle Jack had solemnly informed him, after a summons to the study. Jack himself had been hard pressed to keep from laughing at Joey’s description of the old dear’s faces when confronted with the muscular, tanned body of his ward, sunshine sparkling off every contour. Something between horror and fascination, she had said.

The young man in question was not aware of this, however, and after running a hand through the shock of reddish hair atop his head, he sheepishly and speedily made his way to the boat-house, where he’d left his clothes. It was early for people to be much about yet, although the sun was beating down ferociously on the Tiern See, but, well, better safe than sorry.

He opened the door to the Die Blumen boat-house, and swiftly made for his towel and clothes, hung on a peg by the door. He was two long strides across before he realised there was someone else in the hut. He froze for a second, and quickly ran through the best course of action in his mind. He decided he’d better make his presence known.

“Sorry, Len,” he said, grinning sheepishly, as she started and looked up sharply from her book. “I didn’t think anyone else would be in here this early, otherwise I’d have thought to warn you folk off.” He could have sworn he saw a slight flush come to her pretty face as she took in his attire - or lack of it.

Silence reigned between them for a few seconds.

“Only,” he continued, awkwardly “I’ve got to change back into my things..”

She started again, as if awakened from a trance.

“Oh, don’t worry about it,” The girl hastily returned. “I’ll let you get on.” She scrambled to her feet, book in one hand, and hastened towards her sandals. She had been paddling her feet in the cool water as she read.

“Oh, no,” Roger moved as if to stop her, “Don’t fret. I shouldn’t like to disturb you. You just turn around, and I’ll change, and leave you to your reading. You shan’t even know I’m here.”

His voice was so insistent that, doubtfully, Len resumed her previous position, and continued with Anne. Or, rather, she attempted to. Truthfully, as she heard the elder boy’s clothes rustling behind her, she found it rather hard to concentrate on the concerns of Avonlea.
In what seemed like no time at all and an age all at once, the rustling stopped, and Roger grunted a ‘done’. Len turned back to him, chestnut ponytail flying over her shoulder, and saw him make for the door.

“You needn’t go,” She said, putting her book down on the wooden platform. “I don’t mind. Really, I’d be quite glad of the company.” She accompanied this last with her sweet smile.

The boy wasn’t quite sure if she actually meant it, or was just being polite, but he accepted her invitation. He slipped his sandals off, and sat down beside her, his size ten feet trailing in the water alongside her own, more modest, size sixes.

There was silence for a few minutes before Roger spoke.

“What’re you re…” He was cut off, as Len’s lips met his with a force that shocked him. She pulled away, suddenly.

“Sorry,” She said, face turning a deep crimson. “I’d better go.” She pulled her feet out of the water and hurriedly began to put on her sandals. She had buckled one when she dared to look at Roger again, and found his deep brown eyes fixed upon her own grey ones. She looked away again, and turned her attention back to her sandals, when she felt a pair of hot hands upon her face. She looked up in confusion, and he pulled her face towards his.

They kissed again, softly at first, and then harder, warmth spreading through the bodies of both as their hands found each others back, neck, hair. Roger gently pushed her down, until Len found she was lying on her back, him on top of her, and still lost in his kiss, her hands still holding him tightly against her. Their tongues met, and they clasped at one another still more desperately, every body contour pressed together, every possible surface touching. Len rolled, and before Roger knew it, she was on top of him, her legs astride him. She broke the kiss, and moved to his jaw, his neck, his ears. He groaned as he felt her hot, heavy breath on his ear, and a familiar, sinful, tingling sensation began under where she sat. He put one hand on her cheek, the other on her neck, and pulled her lips back to meet his own. Roger bit her bottom lip gently, as he moved one hand down to her waist, and pushed her over to his side, the two rolling together, their bodies fixed as one and…

Len sat up with a gasp, breathing heavily. She looked around, and saw her familiar room at Die Blumen. She ran her hands over herself, and found only her nightgown.

“But it seemed so real…” she muttered. Across the room, Ruey raised her head and peered over at her friend.

“You alright, Len?” She asked, blearily, rubbing her left eye.

“Sorry, Rue.” Len smiled sheepishly. “I didn’t mean to wake you. It was just a bad dream, that’s all. Don’t fret - I’ll be alright. Go back to sleep.”

Ruey needed no encouragement, and soon was snoring quite peacefully. For Len, sleep took considerably longer.
