Going back into drabble-land... "Hiya, everyone!" said Charlie Anderson as she entered the common-room. "New Girls come today," "I wonder if we'll get any," said Corinne Baker. There was then a knock on the door, and Sara Mills called "Enter!" A Junior entered the room. "Please would Charlotte Anderson go to the study now?" she stammered. Charlotte stood up, and Louise Travers murmured "Just as usual, Charlotte getting into trouble as soon into the term as possible. Has she broken any records this time?" Charlie glared at her, then went on her way to the study. She knocked on the door and heard the confident call "Come in," Charlie went into the study to find Miss Annersley at the desk and a girl she didn't recognise. "Charlotte, this is Lily Potter. Lily, this is Charlotte Anderson. You both are in Upper IVa, of course," Charlie had a good idea what she had to do now, and when she heard they were also in the same dormitory she was certain she was sheepdogging the new girl, and was not disappointed. When they both left the room, Charlie started summerizing the rules to the new girl. "I'm known as Charlie most of the time, although the teachers still call me Charlotte. We aren't supposed to be in this part of the building unless Miss Annersley calls us, and no speaking in the corridors at all. Here is the common-room," She stepped inside. Lily followed her. "Everyone, this is Lily Potter," said Charlie.

The other new girl, Karissa Battleblood, was in Upper IVb. There was not much difference between the two forms, except timetables. Upper IVb was more for the younger students who were up to Upper IV standard, but there were limited spaces in both all of the time. Karissa had long black hair and was sallow-faced, and clearly visible on her neck were two perfectly circular blood-red marks. She barely spoke. She always wore sunglasses so no-one could see her eyes. She also appeared to be camera-shy, and allergic to garlic, though no-one knew why she would not stand in front of a camera. Mavis Carter had the job of sheep-dogging this strange new girl, and had confessed to not liking the job, especially as it was this one who she was. "The worst bit is the only thing she has said is that she keeps on changing schools all of the time, and I don't even know why that is. She never says a word," Mavis complained in the common-room. "I wonder how she will get on in lessons," said Emily Cole.

Norma Burnett had disliked Lily Potter from the first time she met her. She was convinced that Lily was somehow different, and Karissa too, but Karissa seemed to scare her somehow. Norma disliked anyone who was different, really. Lily was different from the rest of her class, and often said things that didn't make sense, and also seemed to make up words. Norma hated it when Lily said she wasn't allowed to speak of these things, when Lily suddenly remembered where she was. She also fantasised about another school, and Norma disliked this. Norma had cornered Lily in an empty classroom one day, and asked her what she meant by it. "By what?" asked Lily. "Being so different from the rest of us," "None of your business," "You tell me who your parents are and everything about this fantasy school of yours," "Don't see why I should. If I fail to go there then I don't see why I should describe the place. I barely know anything that you wouldn't be surprised at," "You'd better tell me everything I wish to know," "No," Lily said. Norma pounced on Lily. Karissa entered the room just as Norma had slapped Lily around the face, but as soon as she noticed Karissa she went white. "I could hear you all the way up the corridor," Karissa said, in tones that sent a shiver down Norma's spine. "If someone wishes to keep a secret it's their beeswax, not yours. I thought you knew that, now you have one of your own. Yet I don't see anyone interrogating you," and Karissa shut the door. Now the room was very dark. Karissa moved towards the corner Lily and Norma were in. When she was right in front of Norma, she took off her sunglasses. Long black eyelashes cured around the eyes of pure black. They were very shiny, and you could not see a jolt of any other colour at all, even white. Norma looked more scared than anyone Lily had seen before. Lily was unconcerned. Two fangs sprouted from the mouth. There was no doubt in Lily's eyes, here was a vampire standing in front of her. "You-You're a v-v-vampire," stuttered Norma. "But I thought v-v-vamp-p-pires got k-killed in the s-s-sunlight," "What do you know about vampires?" asked Karissa. "In Twilight-" "Which is a rubbish book/film anyway, so you don't really know much. Vampires do not die in the light, they just lose their powers, and light affects the eyes badly. Religious things do not hurt, we just scorn them. And garlic doesn't kill us, just makes us go blotchy for a bit. How should I know what happens in the books/films? I've never read/watched them because a vampire mate of mine gave me her Point of view on them. I don't know what happens or anything. There are ways to kill vampires. No-ones really discovered how. Now leave Lily alone, and do not speak anything of this, or I'll have to use these fangs on a human, something I haven't done in years,"

Lily and Karissa became friends quickly, while Norma and Louise and their gangs took a massive dislike to the pair. Louise had started to bully other students into joining their gang and they did. One night Lily found herself being shaken awake. "What is it?" she grumbled. "Never mind, just come with me," Karissa whispered. Lily followed Karissa and only realised exactly where she was when they had reached the gardens. "What are we doing?" asked Lily. "I need to drink blood from an animal soon or I'll seem ill and I don't want Matey getting involved, I'd have no choice but to kill and I really don't want to do that," "Why do you want me with you?" asked Lily. They had reached a fence that was padlocked. Lily unlocked it without touching it. "Stay here and lock the gate when I've gone out. Then when I'm back you'll have to unlock it again," Lily smiled and locked the gate without moving when Karissa walked out. Lily sat down and played with a flower that was on the ground, making it open and close. She had really wanted to go to Hogwarts and have all the fun, but unfortunately the Hogwarts staff had accidentally missed her out. She was home educated for a bit but Lily wasn't enthusiastic about it and they had to give that idea up. Lily's parents then tried very hard to get Lily into Hogwarts, but Hogwarts hadn't replied, because the owl with the letter was shot down by some muggles. Karissa returned half an hour later, slightly bloody around the mouth.

Lily and Karissa walked into the school after Lily did her non-touch lock-locking. There was a staircase the pair had to go up. But right at the top there was another figure that was totally impassable. "Hilda, go back to bed. Honestly, we don't the pair. One of them could just be sleepwalking or something and the other trying to find her," "What, with Karissa's old school report? She was caught out of bed no less than 8 times at the wrong times," "Well, St. Clares does have a reputation for midnights, and anyway, it was only reported to a teacher each time, by the same person. But the thing is, they've handed us many a girl who is sorry for the deeds they commited, or been expelled. Malory Towers as well, if you come to that," Lily looked at Karissa, and Karissa started to sleepwalk suddenly, she was enchanted into it. All the blood disappeared from her face, it had turned into a slice of ham and Lily took it off of the girl, stepped back a pace and ate it quickly before the light started shining on the pair. But although Matey was convinced by the story Lily gave (about sleepwalking and being woken up because you felt something was wrong) Miss Annersley didn't believe the tale at all, and decided to get the pair in the study on the morrow and get the true story from them, using the normal interrogation equipment she always had used when you hear about those "talks" that turned girls around.

The two girls were very resistant to interrogation. Lily had had too many Acid Pops and Karissa was a vampire, incapable of feeling any pain (Except from wooden stakes which did not kill but did maim, and the reaction to gaelic (I meant garlic)) Miss Annersley could not find a hint of lying either and finally had to accept their story, but the pair did find out why they were being searched for. That report. Linda Winterton and Daphne Russell (relation) were later to Maths than the witch and vampire. They had been at Mrs. Maynards house and when they were walking through the school garden another teacher who was off duty did the usual thing - caught the pair, and as usual, told them off for being in the wrong place, but kept them way too long, due to PMT and catching Sandy Howell in the wrong place two minutes before. Karissa loved Maths, and Lily was well above the average pupil. The morning, afternoon, evening, night, morning... went well until 3 weeks into term when Karissa seemed to be watching thin air carefully.

"I can't explain here, this is the common-room and it's impossible to have a private conversation here," and Charlie proved Karissa's point by asking if the pair wanted to have a game of Cheat. "No thanks, Charlie, I really need to use the bathroom," said Karissa. Everyone fell silent at this remark. Why on Earth would anyone want to use a bathroom at this time of day? No-one had baths until bedtime. Karissa noticed the silence, and remembered the CS girls never needed the toilet anyway, so there weren't any. "I'm kidding, obviously," she said, and slowly edged nearer the door. Everyone went back into their games and what not. Karissa made a break for it. Lily followed her with relaxation in her stride. "Now why were you watching thin air?" Lily asked. "Vampires can see ghosts. Zombies can see ghosts. Fairies can see ghosts. Pixies can see ghosts. Transformed werewolves can see ghosts, but not when they're human. Everyone can see poltergeists. Witches can see ghosts too, but only when they're of a certain age and older," "So are you saying there's a ghost in the school? What does it look like?" "She has no legs, only is visible waist up. Wearing this uniform, silvery, cropped dark hair, can't really say anything else," "What the beeping beep? There's a CS ghost?" "There are f*ing ghosts every f*ing where!" said Karissa, who disliked ghosts quite a bit. "But this one has to be different to be wearing a school uniform and living in a school," Lily said. "Yes, but the question is, why?" Karissa said.

"Why can't I see this ghost?" Lily asked. "My two brothers could from the word go," "At that school? What's the name?" Karissa asked. "Hogwarts," Lily replied. "Well, I think it might be because at Hogwarts there's a lot of magical - uummmmm... The enviroment is very magical and magical people can see ghosts, right? And also, the ghosts were magical people and in the right enviroment they'd be visible to anyone. I know ghosts of vampires can be seen by anyone when it's really dark and shaded, but I don't know why. But It's Not Of Our Concern, or INOOC for short. Our concern is to find out if any Chalet School girls have died in this school or in the whole area, and if there aren't any then we'll have to see if any have disappeared in mysterious circumstances or whatever," said Karissa. "But how?" "That bit's easy," said Lily. "The school and Mrs Maynard have got all of the issues of the Chaletian. I suggest we look through each one to see if there's any mention. They're under the bravery awards board in the Hall. So let's go," They spent lots of time looking through the issues of the Chaletian over the next few days but didn't find anything at all. So the pair had to come up with another solution. They could not find any, until Mrs Maynard sent an invitation for the pair to have a new girls tea. "This helps a good bit," said Lily. "How?" asked Karissa. "We could ask Mrs Maynard about CS girls and then go on to disappearances of CS girls. Well, why not?" as she saw her friends face. "It could mean revealing we - well, I - can see ghosts," Karissa grumbled. "We don't have to tell her about that, silly! We could just ask plainly and just say we're curious about any CS girls," But many rows were had to be had before Karissa agreed to this, and only agreed as they were going through the gardens to the back, and had to whisper it so Charlie and Mavis couldn't hear.

"There was a girl at my old school who suddenly disappeared and the police got involved and there was a massive do about it. They interviewed lots of the students and searched the whole building and area, but she was never found. Has there been any cases of that at the Chalet School?" asked Karissa, who had agreed to say this bit, at any rate. "Not a case of that, so far as I can recall, but my memory's bad at that sort of thing. The only case of any CS-related disappearances was when Mary-Lou Trelawney suddenly disappeared after finishing university, but it didn't happen here," Karissa looked around the room of Freudesheim where the guests could do pretty much whatever, determined not to look in Mrs Maynards eyes. She had no intention of letting anyone know that Mary-Lou Trelawney was now Alyssa Battleblood. Mrs Maynard changed the topic. "Karissa, what of your parents?" Karissa took this up. "My father was called Salvador Battleblood and he died in accident when I was a baby," Joey thought of the man Mary-Lou had loved. His first name was Salvador. "My mum is called Alyssa Battleblood and she is a history teacher because she couldn't be an archaeologist," "More Mary-Lou links. Her favourite name was Alyssa and she wanted to be an archaeologist," Mrs Maynard thought. Then she looked. Everyone was staring at her, even Karissa. She must have thought out loud. To relieve the tension she asked "And what of your parents, Lily?" "My dads name is Harry Potter and he is rather famous in our village. No-ones heard of it, though. My mum is Ginny Potter and she plays in a sports team you wouldn't have heard of. The sport isn't one you would have heard of, either. She and my dad are in the same team," "Right," said Mrs Maynard.

The new girls party was a success, even if the pairs question still lingered in their heads. "But let's leave that alone. The ghost doesn't matter really, and there are more important things to do," said Karissa, who just didn't want to find out about the ghost any more. The pair were in a small classroom which no-one wanted to go in ever, so they found it very comfortable. "It's a full moon tonight," Karissa added. "What about it?" Lily asked. "Werewolves. There have been many super-naturals around here in the past. Some werewolves could be sheltering here," "Sheltering from who?" asked Lily. "Vampires mainly. And I've known a couple to shelter from other things as well," "At least there aren't any zombies around here. Or fairies, plesant though they may be," "I would not be too sure of that," Karissa said. *** "Emily, why are you acting so strangely?" "Oh, am I? Because I don't realise it, I don't think I am," "That's exactly what I mean. You'd rise to a remark like that usually, but you're being so irritatingly calm," "I do not think that this is important to me," Mavis sighed. What had happened to Emily?

When Karissa walked into her form room the next day she could smell Voodoo magic for sure, and kept that in mind for later. She went to the library later to find some tales of Voodoo, with Lily who would be a great librarian in the future if she ever wanted to be one. The library was joined with the indoor swimming pool, they were in the same building. (The Doctor had visited it once, but he said it was a swimming pool in a library). Karissa and Lily started on the fiction floor, thinking that anything about Voodoo would be there. It was herd, for fiction was done by author, but they asked the library prefect if there was anything about Voodoo. She replied that some author called Zephyr Burthill had written a compilation on super-natural things but apart from that there was nothing about that sort of thing unless they could look in the senior library. They took ages trying to find the book, which wasn't a surprise, as Mavis had gone to the fiction desk with the book seconds later. And then there was a very long queue she had to deal with, and she wanted some assistance. Fortunately a sub-prefect arrived just then. The role of sub-prefect had changed over the time. At this point they were helpers - they had no specific job except helping when a normal prefect in their duties. Generally the help went to Games, Library, Hobbies, Art, Music and Pets (since the school had restarted that) but could go to other prefects as well. The prefects list came out and then the school voted on the 3 main positions: Head girl, Second Pree, and Games Pree. Then they'd have a meeting on who would do the other jobs, then 3 subs would be selected from Upper V. Lower VI contributed half of the main prefects, but none of their number could be of the top 3. But the two girls could not find the book, concluded that someone must have taken it out, then walked through the sensitisers out of the library.

Karissa smelled voodoo magic strongly now. She managed to get the book she wanted straight after it was returned to the library. "Time to see how this goes," said Lily, flicking to the index. "Karissa, that's your area," "What is?" said Karissa, suspiciously. "Vampires, duh!" Lily said. "There's nothing about voodoo in there, is there?" said Karissa. "Not in the main index, but we can look in the glossary and that area at the back of the book," and Lily flicked right to the back of the book. "Here it is, Voodoo," Lily said triumphantly. "Voodoo, page 38," She flicked and found page 38 just as the bell rang. Lily put a scrap piece of paper where the page was and put it down. The pair later read the story associated with voodoo. It was about some voodoo fairies. "There were many fairies around the world, all peace-making and nature-loving creatures, shy of humans and the like. But there were 4 fairies not content with the usual happy ways. Their parents had not bothered with them much, because they assumed every fairy would be calm, so they grew up rather unloved. Each of them turned their silvery-white hair black, their butterfly wings into gothic ones, and their pearly skin into sallow skin. They wore dresses of black with high black boots. They knew each other as Blood, who provided blood from humans, Ice, who could turn any liquid solid, Magic, who provided all the magic they needed, and Dragon, the one who could breathe fire and get things like dragon scales, dragon claws and dragon heart.

Magic: White eyes, plain black dress, strand of white hair." "The rest of it is jus a story on how they were to do terrible things and all the rest of it," Karissa whined. Lily closed the book, and asked "How do you know?" "All vampires who haven't been living in the sun know about it," she explained. "Right," said Lily. "But what do we do now?" "I thought that tale wasn't true. We find out who's been voodooed, of course! Then we can administer some of our own tricks. Here, have this wand," Karissa said, and pressed a wand into Lilys hand. "But... I mustn't use a wand or the dumb Ministry of Magic will send an owl and we can't have muggles knowing about us," "Ha...HA!" said someone, and ran from the room. "Who was that?" asked Karissa. "Louise, of course. She'd do anything to spread gossip, so we need to make sure nothing comes out her mouth. If I could only use Silencio..." Lily said. "We'd better find her quickly before anyone else does,"

Lily and Karissa just went further into the room, ignoring the comments which sounded more like 5 year olds than 14 year olds. "They have not reacted. Drats," said Louise. Norma smiled. "Well, we can just do things they will react to," But not apple-pie beds, nor the disappearance of all their books, nor ignoring them all together, nor bullying them made the slightest difference. And they started to dis-include the pair in hockey and the like, and when Norma deliberately collided with Lily, the Games Prefect punished Norma severily, andd left Lily to Matey, but Lily was okay.

Next day contained a normal ramble in a direction the Upper IV had not been, and merrily going along the girls chattered, laughed and looked at the scenery. They, as always, marched in pairs, croc fashion, until a certain point where they could break up as long as there were no less than 3 but no more than 6 in a group. Lily and Karissa joined up with the voodooed Emily Cole. No-one else would go with Emily except the prefects. The beautiful sights carried on and on, then the teacher gave a small lesson on geography. Then they had their tea. It was nice for Karen and her team to provide this alone today. normally they called on the teachers and girls on ramble to help or they'd never be able to complete on time. "Are we going on a bit, or are we going straight back to the school?" asked Charlie, munching through an apple. "Not much point going on further today, girls, there's only an old wreck ahead of us," the teacher said. "Oh please may we go?" asked someone. "Please please please please please?" chorused the girls, excepting Prefects, Emily Cole, and Karissa Battleblood. "All right. But you must be on your best behaviour. Promise?" "Yes Miss," chorused again. They went, happy in getting what they wanted. "Why do you want to look at it?" asked Karissa to Lily. "Because Hogwarts looks a ruin to the eyes of a muggle, so I want to know if it's a wizarding world thing or not," "Oh, for waters sake, Lily..." But Lily was proven to be right this time. Karissa smiled at Lily. For while the others surveyed a wreck of some old thing that was indistinguishable, Lily saw a school. It had a sign: Sparkle magic school, for wizards and witches that didn't make it first time. "You can see it too, you're a vampire. Vampires can see everything magically hidden," Lily whispered.

Karissa found it easy to get Mrs. Maynard to the cave - a false story of kidnapping etc. etc. did that. The voodoo fairies handed Lily back to Karissa and did magic and so forth on Joey Maynard. But the pair had to deal with another set of problems, namely their classes/forms. Norma had started on Lily and they were having a big argument in the common room. "I did not do anything to Emily Cole!" "You did, you did! How come she was acting so weirdly, then? Come on! Spit it out!" "It was someone else! Can't you get that into your thick, empty mind?" "You're the only witch around here! Who else could have done it, then?" "You don't know a thing about the people around here, you pathetic little mudblood!" "What is going on in here?" The pair looked to the doorway, and reddened. Carla Malcolm, head girl of the Chalet School, was standing there with her second, Rhoda Abbott. "You two, prefects room straight after Abendessen. Lily tried a jinx she had heard of, and it worked. Time stood still. She moved. Around the room she paced and waved her wand, then she slipped out and grinned. De-freezing time, she winked at Karissa. "I think I managed okay," she said. They entere the common-room. For the first time since the girls heard of the vampire witch thing, no-one blankly stared at them. "Oh, phew," said Lily, happily. "I really must do that more often," "What, erase everyones memories?" "No, silly! You know what I mean," And Lily winked. Karissa whispered something, and Lily smiled. "Keep the forefront up, and no-one will notice any difference," And then a loud howl ringed their ears.

They followed the howls, and soon came to a little-used classroom. Karissa peeked around the door, and slowly stepped back. "Okay, change of plan," "Why?" asked Lily. "She's brandishing a pointy thing," "Shiny, useful and fun. C'mon," "Rather not, there's blood on the pointy thing, even if it is dry," "Maybe it's the tool that killed her. D'you want a poltergeist here?" "Rather that than a pointy thing holding ghost. I've had enough of them, thank you," "I'm going in," And Lily went in. Karissa lounged outside thinking of her plasmavore friend, who had seemed to vanish off of the face of the universe. A plasmavore was similar to a vampire, but was easily killed off, and drunk blood from a straw to disguise themselves as that creature. Karissa decided to move back to the common-room, where she was asked if she knew anything about Corinnes book, which had disappeared magically.

Corinnes book remained a mystery. It was a M. Constance Maynard, which were more popular than Josephine M Bettany. This one was the latest in her most favoured Fantasy series, and Corinne had been very lucky to grab hold of it from the library. Karissa had no idea of where it was, like it was with the rest of the form(s). Everyone looked through their inventories for the book, so Corinne could quickly finish it and return it to the library, where it was reserved by each of the girls, except Lily who was catching up with the rest of the series, and Louise who had got a copy from home for her birthday. Lily and Louise looked through their inventories anyway. Lily found it in her underwear drawer, which she felt embarrased about. She put it in the common-room cupboard, where Corinne searched frantically everyday to be sure it had not fallen down the back or anything like that.

The half term trip was to be in a week and while the Seniors went in 2 big groups to wherever, the Middles and Juniors were put into their forms. Upper IVb were to go camping somewhere in the mountains. Upper IVa were going to Lucerne. Funnily enough, the hidden magic school had also planned to take a trip there, for the younger members, at any rate. Corinne had made no enquiries about her M. Constance Maynard, which Lily was glad for. Lily didn't enquire into the book being found in her drawers, because she never put it there, and the others would suspect if she revealed. Everyone was happy, and relaxed, but being careful with their language, and where and when they spoke. The staff were glad of the good behavior of the girls.

Then the mistress in charge got confused about the way, and got them lost. Karissa tried to give the mistress directions, she knew the area. Lily saw some sparks and flashes, and slowly crept towards the flashes. Corinne followed her. Lily saw the Sparkle school students practising magic, and sighed. She was desperate to go there, ad this looked quite fun. Then she spotted Corinne. "Why are you here?" asked Lily. Corinne did not speak. They moved towards the area the ramblers were, but they had left. Lily went down one track; Corinne followed. They got completely lost. "What the hell do we do now? It's horrible here, and I've no idea what to do. You didn't have to follow me at all, idiot!" "I only followed you because I thought you knew what you were doing!" yelled Corinne.

The pair quite quickly found the group, and immersed in. No-one except Karissa knew that they had gone. "It was plain idiosy for you to go," she moaned later. "They were doing lots of magic, I couldn't ignore that," "But you got lost. The group had moved on, and you might have still been lost now," "I'm fine," "What about this Sparkle school?" "My father is going to send me there next year," "I don't think you should go there," "Why not?" "There's something weird about it. It's not every day you find a second-chance school in a well-famed danger spot in the Swiss Mountains. And it was started a month after the Kwikspell course was finished, by the same people," An argument ensued until the bell rang and the pair were seen walking away, folded arms, ignoring each other.

The rows and ignoration lasted. Then it was the half-term trip. The girls loved Lucerne with its features and so on. The tripees were on the bridge when some of Sparkle school were there. "Those weirdos again," muttered someone, and turned her back on them. Lily was looking at the group, then she heard a scream and turned around. It was a re-act of a previous trip there. Two of the girls had started a game of tag, when one of them started to balance on the railings, miss her footing, and fall into the water. Lily didn't know what she was doing. She saw the girl struggling and jumped in automatically. The swimming was hard, but Lily performed a spell and it became easier. Studying spell-books had given her a good knowledge of magic. Then a handsome doctor came along while Miss Thing gave him an admiring glance. He got them out and set precautions for their health and so on, but they had to stay for longer anyway. Miss Thing had to collect them in one of the school cars. They were travelling along a road in silence, when they saw a car being driven very erratically, swinging from one side of the road to the other. Lily froze in her seat, terror creeping to the end of her toes.

"It's lucky they were not killed by the crash!" Lily heard. She opened her eyes. "It still might. Look, it's not my fault. Not totally. I employed him because he was a good doctor. I didn't know about anything else. Even doctors can be misleading," Lily sat upright at this. "Where the hell am I?" she asked to thin air. "This is the great Sanatorium at the end of the Platz," Lily jumped, and turned around. Then she shuffled away from the figure. "Why are you shuffling away?" the person asked in interest. "You're that Josephine M. Bettany, the woman who practiced Voodoo magic," "I'm not Josephine M. Bettany. I don't like the idea of being my own mother!" "Then, who are you? What happened? Why am I here? Who are the people arguing? Why are they arguing?" "I'm M. Constance Maynard," "Holy cow! You can't be!" "I am. Yes, I know, I'm famous for my fantasy. I don't really care about famousness, it was just thrusted on my head. Most of my books proceeds go to charity of some sort, unlike JMBs," "What happened?" asked Lily. "Well, I wrote a book and sent it to some publisher or other, and they published it," Con said. "Happened to me," said Lily. "Well, a doctor was driving very badly and crashed into the car you were travelling in. Another doctor passed by and phoned in, and you and companions were brought here," And Con gave a lovestricken sigh. "How long have I been here?" "About a week," "Who are the argumentees?" "Len Entwhistle and her husband Reg," said Constance. "They're always arguing, ever since Mamma told Len not to give into people so easily. She thinks that Reg shouldn't have employed the doctor in the crash. He thinks that the doctor was really good and the other applicants were no good that time round," "Do you go by Constance?" asked Lily. "Nah, it's Con," replied the woman. And then the lights started to blinker and die out, and it was freezing cold, and raining hard very suddenly. Lily saw her wand on the table, and grabbed it. Happiness was being sucked out of the room.

Lily muttered something, and a silver doe came out of her wand. It went off, and soon everything was normal again. When Lily was discharged, she went back to the school in hope of finding Karissa. Karissa was nowhere to be found. "She's not been 'er normal self since the crash. She was a bi' upse' over tha' ma'er. Try the grounds or somethin'," Lily checked the grounds, and Karissa was sitting next to a tree near the back. "Hiya," Lily said. "Hey," Neither knew exactly what to say. Lily slipped a piece of paper to Karissa. Karissa read it. "Right. It's your choice if you want to go or not, and your parents as well. I shouldn't have interfered with the matter," "Nah, you only got involved because I kept on banging on about it," "But it was a bit silly. It's not as if I should have tried to turn you away. You go and enjoy Sparkle. It's probably for the best," And it was all peaceful and happy once more. The end
