“Not a sausage! There is not one single sausage in this house. How could we have let this happen? Don’t you know how important this is?” To be perfectly honest, Andy didn’t have any idea what the trauma was. “Well I don’t have time now. I’ll have to do something else, but I did so want to do something different. I get so bored with the ordinary flavours.” Two days later saw Dawn getting ready for the Gather. She had packed the car with her clothes, her food and her bin bags full of knitting paraphernalia. After a very un-Chalet School journey, (no surprises at all, and not a doctor in sight), Dawn arrived. She unpacked her car and took several containers in to the kitchen. Friday night passed with much yibbling, sewing, knitting and such, with some people sitting up in to the early hours of the morning. On Saturday there was much craftage and gaming, interspersed with the compulsory yibbling. Rosie, Pim, Chelsea, and some of the other more hardy souls spent the afternoon on a ramble to the Cow and Calf rocks. When they returned they were famished. Luckily, for them, Spot Supper was almost ready. The meal was served and a fine time was had by all. There was very nearly a food fight, but Lesley stopped that with one Hilda Annersley-esque glare. (It’s quite spooky how the two merge sometimes) Finally it was time for dessert. The trolley was brought in, laden with ice cream tubs and dishes. There was a mass rush for the trolley, well what can you expect when there may be chocolate involved.? “It’s all home made,” said Dawn, “and I did want to do something new and different. I ran out of sausages though, so we’ll have to make do with plain old chilli flavour.” |
