And Lesley like Hilda Annersley!! The two have kind of morphed into one for me

I know what you mean. It was the same way back in 2004, and inspired this little drabble for the bedtime story!!!

The Journey

Lesley Green sat gazing out of the train window as it sped along the shores of the Thunersee, heading for Interlaken. The lake was shining an incredible blue, reflecting the sky overhead, and sparkling in the sunlight. She had enjoyed her time in England, but was happy to be back in Switzerland, which she felt to be her spiritual home. Little sailing boats were scattered across the water, and she could see two of the large ferries making their way from village to village around the lake.

When the train pulled into the Bahnhof, she collected her belongings together, and descended onto the platform, making her way towards the nearby lock-up garage where her car awaited. The traffic was fairly heavy, and it took her a little time to reach the ring-road around the town, but she finally found herself speeding along it towards the exit for Lauterbrunnen. Shortly after she had turned onto the side road, she pulled over into a lay-by, and stopped the car. She opened the door and got out to stretch her legs a little, and take a few deep breaths of the wonderful mountain air. This was the difficult part of her journey, and she wanted to make sure that she was ready for the experience.

Re-entering the car, she settled herself comfortably behind the wheel, before letting her mind sink into the meditative state that she needed. Gradually her awareness of her surroundings faded, the sounds growing dimmer and far away, and her sight blurring. She felt a little dizzy and disorientated, but this always happened at this point, and she let it take its course.

Gradually the surroundings came back into focus, but with a number of differences. There was no distant hum of traffic noise from the ring-road – in fact there was little sound of traffic at all. The air seemed subtly clearer, though that could have been her imagination. More obvious was to changes to both the car and herself. The car had changed to a model from some fifty years previously, as had her luggage and the style of her clothes, and she smiled happily, as she started the car, and pulled away, turning up a side road that had not been there a few minutes earlier. The sign-post read Gornetz Platz. The figure at the wheel of the car was older, the golden brown hair much longer, and twisted up into an old-fashioned bun at the nape of the neck. The clear blue-grey eyes that swept the road had no need for spectacles to see clearly. The new term at the Chalet School would start in two weeks time, and Miss Annersley was on her way back to school, refreshed by her holiday in England.

I remember this! That was one of the classics- along with Liss' 'Rafe! Oh Rafe!' dramatics.
*snickers*

I have to admit, Lesley- that story of Pat's hung most irritatingly in my mind whilst I was reading Headmistress. Pat has a lot to answer for!

That would explain any subtle differences between the characters, wouldn't it. Pat, always prepared.
