#1: The Day the Horses Came repost Author: Mel, Location: UP NORTHPosted: Fri May 05, 2006 10:04 pm The harsh strip lighting bounced off the stark, white walls. On a chair sat a woman, proud and upright, flanked by two grim captors in black leather. The taller, thinner man leaned closer, menacingly.
"Are you going to tell us?" he asked in a dangerously quiet voice.
"Never!" came the scornful reply, though the woman's voice was weak and her face grey with fatigue. A harsh laugh erupted from the flabby mouth of the shorter, fatter guard. "Never is a long time," he said in a jeering tone. "We've got all the time in the world. You'll talk."
The two men exchanged inscrutable glances. This prisoner was hard to crack. So far she had withstood all their terrors, mental and physical. Now it was time for their trump card.

#5: The Day the Horses Came Author: Mel, Location: UP NORTHPosted: Sat May 06, 2006 10:55 am Silently they carried the prisoner and her chair outside the French doors.
"What are you doing to me now?" she quavered, but with a sharp note in her voice.
"You'll see."
As yet there was nothing but a dreary, flat landscape with an unwelcome chill breeze.
"Listen!" ordered the tall man. All three strained to hear.
"You are wasting your time, said the woman wearily.
"Hush!" barked her captor.
The sound, far, far away was a faint rumble. Not at first recognisible. It grew louder, but for a while nothing could be seen. The black-clad men were tense with excitement, their faces glistened with anticipation. Three pairs of eyes simultaneously saw what had been unleashed. The woman's eyes widened.

#9: Author: Mel, Location: UP NORTHPosted: Sun May 07, 2006 12:48 pm With a roar of hooves and a tossing of proud manes, a herd of stampeding horses approached, their backs drenched in sweat. As the inevitable drew nearer, the two men prepared to retreat, with one final question: "Well - will you tell us now?"
"No - I 've always maintained that even wild horses wouldn't drag it out of me!" the woman retorted sharply.
"Drag what out of you?"
"That Joey Bettany is my darling!" she snapped.
Matey slumped in her chair, covered in shame, tricked at last, a defeated woman, while two black-clad men shook hands, smirking.
