She knew that paddling had been a mistake as soon as she felt her foot slip. The water, colder than it had been a moment ago, seemed to suck and pull at her skirts, weighing them down. Struggling was undignified, but struggle she did. Peering into the depths as she tried to kick free, she could just make out strange shapes drawing closer. Then the stinging began, and took her breath away. She forgot to breathe.
As the tentacles tightened round her leg she heard a voice hiss into her ear “Sssssooooo, what exactly *is* wrong with being a jellyfish?”
