Can't get it in a very clear format - hope it makes sense!

Welcome to Strictly Come Drabbling!

Bruce Forsythe: Last week we saw our drabblers whittled down to three, with the loss of St Scholastika despite a very successful crossover with Casualty. Tonight our three survivors go up against each other with three very different drabbles. Anything could happen…

First up tonight, it’s St Therese with the Serious Single-Scene Fill-in.

Music plays: St Therese walks out on to the stage, on which is set up a computer linked to the CBB.
St Therese begins to type. As she writes, her words flash up on a large screen, accompanied by cheers and clapping from the audience.
She types the final full stop; the audience holds its breath momentarily before she relaxes and the cheering breaks out anew. St Therese walks over to the panel of judges
.

Bruce: Now, I’m pleased to welcome our judges tonight: four well-respected members of the drabbling community, each with their own area of expertise. Our head judge is Lesley Green, author both of the Real Chalet School series and of Hilda Annersley: Headmistress.
Applause
Bruce: We welcome also the well-respected Pat Willimott, author of A Chalet School Librarian as well as several online drabbles.
Applause
Bruce: Next to her we have the delightful LizB, one of the most prolific drabblers on the Board.
Applause
Bruce: And last but not least, or so she keeps telling us… Georgia!
Boos and cat-calls. Georgia gives an evil grin.

Bruce: Head judge Lesley Green, what should we be looking for in this drabble?

Lesley: Well, the Serious Single-Scene Fill-in, or SSSF as it is commonly known, is one of the most exacting types of drabble. A real command of EBD-style language is needed, as well as an eye for detail. Drabblers need to show restraint and make sure that their scene fits seamlessly into canon. And I have to say, St Therese, that’s exactly what you did. The death scene was moving without being too sentimental, and your portrayal of Joey was spot on.
Applause
Bruce: Thank you, Lesley. Pat?
Pat: You create a wonderful atmosphere, St Therese, and I can see your characters so clearly. Keep going this way and you have it in you to win!
Applause and cheering
Bruce: And now Liz…
Liz: Oh St Therese, I lose all sense of proportion when you write! Absolutely wonderful!
Loud applause, cheering
Bruce: Georgia? (St Therese looks nervous)
Georgia: A death scene? One word: fantastic.
Pleasantly surprised cheering

Bruce: Well, you’ve heard their comments: it’s over to Tess Daly now for the judges’ marks.

Tess: Well, St Therese, how did you think it went?
St Therese: I was pleased with it, and the judges seemed to like it – we’ll just have to see how their marks work out.
Tess: Too true. The scores are in: let’s see how you’ve done.

Georgia: 8
Cheers; look of relief from St Therese
Liz: 9!
Loud cheers; whistling
Lesley: 9!
Cheering continues
Pat: 9!
Louder cheers

Tess: That’s a total of 35: you’ve set a very high standard for our other drabblers to beat. But remember, it’s not all down to the judges’ marking: if you want St Therese to win then she’ll need your votes too! Well done, St Therese, and off you go.
Our next drabbler is St Agnes, with The Background of a Neglected Character.

(and yes, I have chickened out of writing the actual drabbles!)

Apologies for spreeing but I'm not sure when I'll next have computer access!

Our next drabbler is St Agnes, with the Background of a Neglected Character.

The title flashes up on screen as St Agnes takes her place amid cheering. She looks slightly nervous. At first her typing is somewhat hesitant but the audience’s support seems to give her confidence as she goes on. Her ending slows down and she finishes with a carefully-placed full stop. Applause rings out as she stands up and walks over to the judges.

Bruce: Now, Lesley, what should we see in the Background of a Neglected Character?
Lesley: For a start, drabblers need to select their character carefully. They should try to build up a sympathetic background and make their character’s canon behaviour believable. Last but not least, they should attempt to provide explanations for any EBD-isms pertaining to their chosen character. Not the easiest of tasks!
Bruce: So how did St Agnes do? We’ll start with Liz.

Liz: Well, I did like this very much – you certainly have the talent to go all the way.
Applause.
Liz: I do have a slight problem with your grammar and punctuation, though…
Boos
Liz: No, no, let me finish – it’s something that’s very tricky to master, and I think you need to work on it for your next drabble.
Bruce: Right, right. Head judge Lesley?
Lesley: I thought this was a good example of the Background drabble: you combined lots of little details into a whole that was plausible. Your command of slang is very good and I really liked your explanation of the triplets’ movable birthday.
Loud applause
Bruce: And now Pat…
Pat: You have a lot of talent, St Agnes, and I saw flashes of it in that drabble, but now I’d really like to see you let yourself go: I think you’re holding back. It’s time to go for it!
Uncertain applause
Bruce: And finally, Georgia.
Georgia: Pedestrian, dull, clumsy…
Boos, cat-calling
Georgia: … you have as much fluency as a monkey at a typewriter. On the plus side, I suppose you did get straight into it and there was no messing around with long introductions.
Hissing
Bruce: Er, thank you, Georgia – I think! Now it’s over to Tess - and St Agnes? You’re my favourite!

Tess: A mixed reception there, St Agnes – how do you feel?
St Agnes: Well, I’m glad Lesley liked my explanation of the birthday, as that’s something I’ve really worked on over the last week. I knew my grammar wasn’t always as good as it could have been, so Liz was right to pick up on that.
Tess: The scores are in: let’s see the marks.

Georgia: A generous 5!
Boos, hissing.
Liz: A safe 7.
Muted applause
Lesley: 7.
Moderately pleased applause
Pat: I don't know what Georgia's on about! 8!
Relieved cheering

Tess: Well, St Agnes, 27 is a respectable score, but it’s a good way behind St Therese.
St Agnes: Yes, well, if anyone had said 27 at the beginning of the week I’d have taken that: I’m a bit disappointed with Georgia’s mark, but I suppose my drabble just wasn’t her style.
Tess: Brave words from our St Agnes there. Don’t forget, if you want to see her back in the final, she’ll need the audience to vote for her!

St Agnes goes off.

And the final bit!

Bruce: Our final drabbler tonight is St Clare and she’ll be drabbling The Chalet School in the 21st Century.

St Clare takes her place as the music starts. She plunges into her drabble with energy and the audience react enthusiastically. Puns and sly references flow freely, and as she hits the final exclamation mark the audience erupts into cheers. She smiles in a relieved way as she goes over to the judges.

Bruce: You’ve captured the audience, anyway – let’s hope the judges agree! We’ll go to head judge Lesley Green first for an explanation of the Chalet-School-in-the-21st-Century drabble.

Lesley: Well, there are two main possibilities here: drabblers may either transport existing characters into modern times or write about their descendants. Note that this is the only one of tonight’s drabbles where Joey-bashing is allowed: competitors are permitted two explicit expressions of disapproval. And I have to say, St Clare, despite the way you treated Hilda, that was the funniest drabble I’ve read in ages. Looking at you in the first week, I would never have imagined you’d come up with something like this!
Loud applause; knowing laughter

Bruce: Thank you, Lesley. Georgia, what did you think of it?
Georgia: Absolute filth: I loved it!
Amazed cheers
Bruce: Well! Liz?
Liz: Brilliant – a surreal but somehow totally convincing situation – and I loved the ending.
Loud applause
Bruce: And finally, Pat.
Pat: Well, St Clare, you showed us tonight that it needn’t be “middling” in your “house”. That was truly superb!
Bruce: Some good comments there, St Clare – let’s go over to Tess for the scores.

Tess: You certainly wowed the judges, St Clare – did you expect it to be as good as that?
St Clare: I’m just pleased that all the hard work has paid off. I’ve enjoyed drabbling so much – it’s given me so much confidence, and it’s been great fun.
Tess: I think we can all see that! Let’s see the judges’ marks.

Georgia: 9!
Loud applause; cheers
Liz: The perfect 10!
Cheering and whistling
Lesley: 10!
Noise continues
Pat: Well done, St Clare: 10!
Audience goes wild.

Tess: St Clare, what do you think of that?
St Clare: *speechless*
Tess: She’s obviously overwhelmed! It’s the highest score of the night; the highest score of the series; and it puts her at the top of our leaderboard. Let’s have a look at the final judges’ placings. At the bottom of the table, needing all your votes to stay in, it’s St Agnes with 27. Then we have St Therese with 35: but at the top with a massive 39 out of 40 it’s St Clare!

Bruce: The phone lines are now open: it’s up to you to vote for your favourite drabbler. We’ll be back with the results later, but in the meantime…

Bruce and Tess: …Keep drabbling!
