Can you tell that I'm finished with exams now? Ok this isn't Rachel or Posy, both of which need some work so that they can be finished, but inspiration did strike, and this is a sequal for Joyful's Rainbow Rabbit Convention - if that's what it's called.

BTW Joyful - I couldn't see that in the archives, time for a repost do you think so people can get the history which goes before this?

Any rate, here we go...

The young writer listened carefully to her new plot bunny. She was telling her a story about 5-7 year old girls. This was quite an experiment for both of them. Kathy rarely wrote stories about the younger girls, and there were not many Chalet books on them. Rainbow was sad to have had to leave her pack and her girls behind a year or so before, and was looking forwards to having a chance to weave stories about the different things which happened to them.

As far as she could tell the girls were doing their best to keep her memory alive, even though they had capitulated and began telling their secrets to that Olivia. After all, why else would they choose Rainbow as their favourite colour? Unless you knew that’s what they meant of course, such a choice made little sense.

Currently Kathy was pulling her hair. Rainbow may have been a great Rainbow Rabbit, but she had lots to learn about being a plot bunny. Kathy was currently struggling with trying to write about the game Hedgehogs, and already Rainbow was rambling on about “one elephant went out to play” and exactly how difficult it was when most of the girls had left the circle and it was left for 2 or 3 leaders to hold up the arches they used.

She knew that in time Rainbow would get used to how drabble writing best flourished, and would start to provide inspiration about other events than rainbow meetings, and that all important rainbow chat held at the start of the meeting. When that happened she would eventually be able to begin posting the stories Rainbow came up with.

“Tell me a bit about what Lauren did when she got home” Kathy requested in a break. Rainbow was a little put out, here she was crafting a story about the whole group of girls, and yet this person she had ended up working with was intent on distracting her onto such an unimportant person as the group leader.

“I have no idea what Lauren does when she goes home at the end of the meeting” Rainbow said sulkily. “But you’re a plot bunny now; you have some imagination, make something up. Does she think about the rainbows, does she plan for the next meeting? How does she think up the ideas of what to do with the girls?” Rainbow eventually began to think upon the issue, and soon began to talk about planning meetings and the like.

Kathy sighed, knowing that there was a lot more work to be done with Rainbow before her stories would include more information on her characters than could be imparted during a rainbow meeting, and that might actually include stories about the school life of the characters, but they were at least one step along the way.

Poor Rainbow! Maybe she could start by setting up Rainbows at the Chalet School?

*now curious about how arches figure in to 'One Elephant Went Out To Play'*

Ah, that may well be the way I've played it - a bit like in and out the dusty bluebells, with the leader changing each time. The girl 'chosen' is the girl closest to the leader when the singing stops, and she leads the next time. We also tend to go on until all of the girls are involved in the 'train'.

No experience with bluebells, though I vaguely recall something about "in and out those dusty windows, we'll follow the master," which was sort of a 'Follow the Leader' game. We never did elephants more than once in a meeting, though the chain usually grew to include everyone, and the singing went on until things got so tangled or insane that it collapsed.

Dusty windows is dusky bluebells! We sang dusty windows at Brownies, but it's the same as my mum's dusty bluebells, which should really be dusky bluebells.

We don't have arches in one elephant, they just go about in the middle of the circle being elephants!

Squirrel - can't remember what I called it last time, but I'll put it in St Clare's now
