I know you won't see this till later Kathy. Hope you had a great Christmas

It was midnight on December 24th, the time when all good toys come to life, and the toys on the Gornetz Platz were no exception. Elphie, Teddy Robinson, Llewellyn, and all the rest shivered slightly and sat up. The first to move was the Sugarplum Fairy. Her magic had kept her from being cleared away when the remains of the tree decorations had been cleared from Hall, and she had stayed hidden from sight ever since. Now she stood up, walked out onto the dais and looked around. Then she nodded to herself; there was no sound to be heard, and all was safe. She waved her wand and chanted a few words in a low voice, and the toys started appearing around her. None of the ones that really lived on the Platz of course, just those who had their homes elsewhere in normal times. All except one, who was bound by a Will. When they were all gathered together, she spoke.
“Welcome. We must mourn the one who cannot join us but we have the opportunity now to have our wishes granted. What do you all want most?”
There was silence for a minute as the toys looked at each other, then Elphie spoke for all of them.
“I think we’d all like to go home,” he said quietly, and the other toys murmured agreement.
“Very well, but I shall need help. I don’t have strong enough magic to send all of you back where you belong.” She waved her wand again, and a strange-looking person appeared. A figure dressed in an suit that covered her from head to foot. Heavy duty boots were on the feet, bulky gloves on the hands, and a hood was drawn tightly around the face., which was covered by a gas mask. Incongruously she clutched a magic wand in one hand. The Sugarplum Fairy and the toys gaped at this figure in amazement for a minute.
“I thought I’d asked for a Fairy Godmother,” said Sugarplum at last.
“You did, and I am she. But I was coming here, where the Advent Drabbles had happened, and I didn’t want to take any chances.”
There were snorts of amusement at that, and a sudden smell of sulphur from Llewellyn, the not-imaginary Welsh dragon.
“It’s quite safe for the moment,” said the fairy. “It’s Christmas Day. What happens after today is anyone’s guess, but you certainly don’t need protection from nuclear, biological or chemical weapons!”
The Fairy Godmother shrugged and pulled back her hood to reveal the mandatory grey hair, not pulled back into a bun, but beautifully styled around her face. The carefully removed the gas mask and dropped it on the floor. Her face was wrinkle-free and kindly, and she surveyed the toys grouped in front of her with a gentle smile.
“They want to go home,” explained the Fairy. “They don’t really belong here you see. I don’t have the strength for all of them.”
“I think we can manage that!” said the Fairy Godmother, but before she could wave her wand Uto pushed forward to the front of the group.
“Before we go I just want to say something,” he said in his deep voice. “We all have the opportunity to gloat when we get home, as we know all the answers, don’t we? I just want to remind you what happens to gloaters. If you think the things that happened here are bad, you won’t know what’s hit you if you blab!”
More than one toy went pale at that thought! Then the Fairy Godmother waved her wand, and the toys vanished. Pogo joined Elphie as they reached the coast, sent on his way from the VK home, and they held hands as they shot across the Atlantic, and then parted as they reached the American coast. The others were whisked away across Europe to their various homes. The two fairy beings looked at each other and smiled.
“Well, that’s it! We can help no one else this year! And I think the snowglobe can stay here, don’t you?” said the Fairy Godmother. “Much safer than sending that home!”
The Sugarplum Fairy nodded emphatically. Then with a gentle implosion of air, they both disappeared. In the snowglobe, Georgia growled.
