Francie Wilford gave a huge sigh as she lugged the gigantic sacks of post up to her desk. After leaving the Chalet School, she had obtained a job as a junior researcher at the BBC. The programme she was currently working on, Dog Borstal, had proved very popular. During the last episode, two of the presenters, Mic Martin and Robert Alleyne, had issued an appeal for new participants for the next series.
As Francie picked up a large pile of envelopes out of the sack, she noticed that the majority of them had a Swiss stamp on them. Upon opening them, she could not help noticing that they all had a common theme; that the community living on and around the Gornetz Platz were desperately wanting Dog Borstal’s help to train Joey Maynard and her dog Bruno. They had endured years of him bounding up at them, almost knocking them over and being licked from head to toe.
Francie grinned wickedly as she had when she was a wicked Middle. The first episode of the next series would be recorded in Switzerland, in Freudesheim. Hopefully, it would soon be a Happy Home for all the Maynards’ visitors.
