#1: Claim for compensation Author: LizB, Location: Oxon, EnglandPosted: Thu May 26, 2005 8:21 am Been injured for an accident that wasn’t your fault? For no-fee compensation call us on …
“I beg your pardon, madam, you said what happened?” The voice on the other end of the phone was laden with incredulity. A patio door fell on your foot?”
“That’s right.”
“How on earth could that happen?”
“I was standing innocently nearby, when it leapt out of it’s frame and landed on me.”
“Well, that’s a very serious complaint indeed. Let’s see what we can do for you in the way of compensation.” The sound of computer keys clicking lasted for nearly a minute. “Ah, yes, here we are, I think this claim package will suit your situation.”
She outlined the details to responses of “Yes”, “No, I think more than that”, “Yes”, “Look it really hurts you know”, “Yes”, “Is that the best you can negotiate for me?” “Oh, that sounds better.”
“Wonderful madam, Well I think you should receive that within the next 28 days. Thank you for your call and for making your claim through us. Goodbye.”
28 days was a long time to wait. A watchful vigil was made. The postman started to feel rather wary of the house with the lime-green front door, as he was daily greeted eagerly, then dismissed in disgust.
Finally, the auspicious day arrived. A large heavy box was delivered. The letter headed ‘Your claim for compensation’ was rapidly skimmed the discarded as irrelevant. The box was opened with all due reverence and solemnity. And Lesley Green forgot the pain in her toe and bounced for joy as she regarded the set of 58 hardbacks therein.
